* {{Foreshadowing}}: Unlike the other characters, [[spoiler: Mick]] is the only one whose eyes have [[RedEyesTakeWarning any colour to them.]] When [[spoiler: Twilight]] first reveals herself to Dee, she is coloured magenta, mentions having siblings and that they have agents in Dee's realm. Several issues later, [[spoiler: Scoob calls upon one of her siblings Illapa to gain their blessing in order to defeat Ms Bellum, implying that Scoob and Shag work for them due to sharing Illapa's blue colour.]]
** During Swiper and Courage's fight with her, Pop hallucinates them both as a singular Antihoo monster instead of two seperate ones. Later on, [[spoiler: she becomes a fusion Antihoo monster herself.]]

* OnePersonOnePower: Each character's Ballyhoo works like this, granting them a highly individualized power. [[spoiler: Shaggy ''should'' have a Ballyhoo, but recent comics imply and later confirm that as he's a clone, the original Shaggy already has what should be his, the Ballyhoo "Jump Cut".]]

* MorallySuperiorCopy: The Shag we have been following for the run of the comic is revealed to be a clone of the original Shag, who is a thug with a truly gruesome Ballyhoo working under an OmnicidalManiac.

* FourFingeredHands: Humanoid Toones have four fingers in each hand, while Earthlings have five. This is especially notable in a flashback, where we see Shag walking among some [=non-Toons=], as is brought as one of the reasons why [[spoiler:his human friends knew something was up with him]].

* GenreShift: Started as a gag strip, then shifted to horror and then to a shonen parody.

* MassivelyMultiplayerCrossover: The comic is largely focused on cramming as many animated celebrities in its page space as possible and having them duke it out. * ArcSymbol: The one on Scooby's dog tag. [[spoiler: It's the shape of the ship on which the {{Toon}}e characters escaped, and the insignia associated with Scooby's underlings while he was a commander.]]
* ArtEvolution: As the comic has shifted away from the gag-per-strip format into serious storytelling, the art quality has taken a massive leap. That's not to say that earlier art is ''bad,'' but the action and horror panels later in the story use a truly incredible amount of detail.

* BadassCrew: As shown in #81, [[spoiler: Mystery Inc. was this in the past. Fred's ''Freeze Frame'' and Daphne's ''Burn In'' together were even enough to quickly and decisively beat the Martian Queen.]]
* BadassNormal: Shaggy himself. Despite not having a Ballyhoo himself - and lacking an arm - he's able to defeat Yoge in a one-on-one. He had to take a nasty hit from [[CounterAttack Simul]][[AttackReflector cast]] to do it, but it's still fairly impressive. Then again, [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooLegendOfThePhantosaur this ain't new for Shaggy - when he's not limited by fear, he is very capable of holding his own in a brawl and outwitting tougher-looking opponents.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: Well, Little Brother Instinct. [[spoiler:Dex rips off The Preacher's arm for hurting Dee.]]
* BlandNameProduct: Kermit's "Product Placement" Ballyhoo creates objects like these.

* CantTakeAnythingWithYou: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. While Patrick can take things [[spoiler: and people]] with him when he travels to the past using his Ballyhoo, "Rerun", they can't interact with anything and are invisible. PlayedStraight, however, when he travels back to the present.
* CerebusRetcon: Kermit's introduction has him [[TheStoner taking out a blunt]]. [[spoiler: As [[WholeEpisodeFlashback The Coward King]] reveals, this is actually because he was holding one when Velm wiped his memory, meaning it was the sole thing he had at the time.]]

* ClusterFBomb: [[spoiler:Upon being unmasked, the real Shaggy]] lets out 12 "shits" in a row.
* CoughingUpBlood: [[spoiler:A sign that a character is about to [[BodyHorror transform]].]]
* CreepyGood: "Mick" looks outright disturbing and his behavior doesn't help the matters, but so far everything he has done, even [[spoiler: a brutal murder of Droopy]] was to help the good guys. Subverted though when it turns out he's [[spoiler: the original Shaggy, who is working with Mickey Mouse..]]
* CreepyPainting: [[spoiler: They seem to be the physical appearance of Droopy Dog's "Direct to Video" Ballyhoo.]]

* DoNotAdjustYourSet: In a benign example, cartoons turn out to be transmissions by an alien race. Also overlaps with AlienArtsAreAppreciated, so much so, in fact, that our appreciation gave them superpowers.

* MesACrowd: Gerald's Stunt Double Ballyhoo lets him create a double of himself, though it's limited to a single clone and it's not very strong. Later on, [[spoiler:once Gerald stops holding back, he creates enough clones to literally bury Shag]].

* SuperSpeed: Popeye's Ballyhoo, Frame By Frame, enhances his speed and reflexes.
* SurpriseCreepy: It initially just seems like a webcomic parodying WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooWhereAreYou, but as the comic goes on, it gets darker and shows examples of violence and BodyHorror.

* TheyWalkAmongUs: {{Toon}}es. And they're ''aliens.''
* TimeSkip: [[spoiler: A two year time jump. A number of explosions have gone off across the world, and animation as a medium is now ''banned'' worldwide. Meanwhile, Shag is living in New York under the alias 'Norv' and has split from the rest of the crew.]]

* WhamEpisode: While hints of weirdness and something darker under the surface scattered the comics for a while, pages 32-35 cement the larger story with Barney and Scoob fighting for the first time, along with Scoob using the power of Ballyhoo.
