A delightful story which is almost as original as one could get, this webcomic is unique because it’s [[WordofGod written like a novel]], so it starts off by building up the premieres (the world have fallen into a second Dark Age, and only recently did some of the countries have begun to climb out of the Dark Age) and introducing us to the characters. Much of the technology we know today have been lost in the future (they have only the most basic form of electricity, and their wooden boats and trains are steam-powered), so any artifacts discovered would have immense impact. However there are [[Bad Guys: forces]] who wish the world to remain in the Dark Age, and it’s those enemies that the Pacificators have to fight against for the future of the world.

->''My dream is to be a Pacificator who help people just like my grandmother.'' - Daryl Smithson

‘‘Daryl Smithson, an aspiring Pacificator of [[Light'EmUp Light]], has enthusiastically taken an offer of joining Commander Bismun Volborth’s unusual platoon of [[LawEnforcementInc. Pacificators]] with rare, “magical” (in actuality, [[Telekinesis science-based]] [[ElementalPowers]]. Her platoon’s assignment is to investigate an ancient sea oil platform passed as the supposed legendary “Gateway to the Heavens” for any technological relies that may either benefit or harm their peacekeeping efforts to end the Second Dark Age. That is Daryl’s [[NewMeat very first assignment]], but to her dismay, her platoon have run into problems. Two of Daryl’s fellow platoon members didn’t show up, while Muneca Powell and Cinna Grossul, respectively, the Pacificators of [[GravityMaster Gravity]] and [[PlayingWithFire Fire]], dislike each other to the point of being [[HeadbuttingHeroes uncooperative with each other]]. To make matters worse, the Pacificators’ enemies, such as the rogue Renegades with elemental powers and the enigmatic Nozimo with a hidden agenda, have taken an ominous interest in the Gateway. Will Daryl be able to get one of the worst Pacificator platoons ever assembled to work together to complete their mission, or suffer the grave consequences of their failure?‘‘

A delightful story which is almost as original as one could get, this webcomic is unique because it’s [[WordofGod written like a novel]], so it starts off by building up the premieres (the world have fallen into a second Dark Age, and only recently did some of the countries have begun to climb out of the Dark Age) and introducing us to characters, [[GrowingtheBeard until the fourth volume]] . Much of the technology we know today have been lost in the future (they have only the most basic form of electricity, and their wooden boats and trains are steam-powered), so any artifacts discovered would have immense impact. However there are [[BadGuys forces]] who wish the world to remain in the Dark Age, and it’s those enemies that the Pacificators have to fight against for the future of the world.

The first page can be found [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH00P0TITLE.html here]], and an index can be found http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/PacificatorsOnlineMangas.html here]]. Currently, there are 33 chapters done (spilt up into four volumes). There are thirteen volumes planned (that may be subjective to change). The author-artist, J.A., have recently completed the fourth volume, and is taking a short break to focus on his Real Life job and other projects, but he will be back soon to work on the fifth volume (his pattern is a few-months-long break between each volume).

A quick word to the readers, however. J.A. is Deaf, and English is not his first language (it’s American Sign Language). Therefore, there are ultimately minor grammar errors in his story, but once you get used to it, you can ignore them easily. The other thing you need to know about J.A. being deaf is how Deaf people tell their stories; sometimes, they would pause to point out things in the background, or to explain things further. You’ll notice that J.A. occasionally puts in little comments between the panels, but you can just train yourself to ignore them (or enjoy the insight into the mind of the Deaf).

''Pacificators'' contains examples of the following tropes:

[[index]]
*AKindofOne: Muneca, [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P034.html the only Pacificator of Gravity]] - she was so highly valuable that when she became available for recruitment, ‘‘it had to be decided by a lottery‘‘ [[spoiler: which Bismun apparently rigged]]
*AchillesHeel: those with powers can’t infinitely use their powers; they use up energy, and if they overexert themselves, they can black out (or even kill themselves)
*ActionFashionista: Muneca (who dresses in Victorian-era clothes), Larima (as per WordofGod, she has to look beautiful for diplomatic purposes)
*ActionGirl: obviously, the entire platoon
*ActualPacifist: Larima (see DeathbyOrigin Story)
*AdjectiveAnimalAlehouse: the Tough Fish Cafe in Lisboa, Portugal
*AdjustingYourGlasses: Muneca has a pair of glasses for reading, and she usually handles it by the corner
*AdventurerArchaeologist: Breanne’s platoon’s specialty
*AerithandBob: J.A. researches the names from various cultures (such as Qamra Umar and Captain Invaov), and he named a few characters after minerals (J.A. is a mineralogist). For the most part, the characters’ names are indeed from their cultures (ShownTheirWork)
*AllIntheManual: some of our knowledge about the characters come from their profiles and the occasional WordofGod
*AllMenArePerverts: PlayedWith and PlayedForLaughs. Not every male character presented are perverts - more than usually, the perverted men are minor and background characters (FunnyBackgroundEvent). The only major male character who is a pervert is Enrique
*AlloftheOtherReindeer: it’s implied that people don’t really like those with powers (Cinna have difficulty finding dates; the slur “witches” being flung around, most often aimed at Platoon 113)
*AmazonBrigade: [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P087.html, http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P141.html Lampshaded several times]]; [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P142.html RunningGag]]; [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n167.html) infamously known as the “Harem Platoon”]]
*Ambadassador: Larima is renowned for her great diplomatic skills, and she’s an Elite-ranked Pacificator of Water
*AmbitionisEvil: Muneca (averted, though Cinna might say otherwise), Nozimo, Princess/[[spoiler: Queen]] Belinda [[spoiler: he actually ''poisoned her own father'' for the throne]]
*AmbiguouslyGay: the pirate Ferdinand Cook. He’s downright terrified of women, paints his nails, is fairly skilled at fighting (both unarmed and with weapons)
*ArtEvolution: compare the [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH00P0TITLE.html cover of the first volume]] to the [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n000ATitle.html cover of the fourth volume]]
*AutomaticCrossbow: Qamra carries around one
*BadGuys: the Renegades, the Preservers, Nozimo’s mysterious network, and [[spoiler: possibly Queen Belinda]]
*BadassLongcoat: Bismun, Egmond
*BadassNormal: Bismun, Egmond
*BerserkButton: the whole cast have had theirs displayed at least once (some much more strongly whereas the others’ are implied).
**Muneca - being touched, vulgar and rude things, Cinna
**Cinna - bossy people, being picked on about her freckles, Muneca
**Daryl - being called fat (as Enlil and Rendo learned the painful way)
**Larima - being called “wide-hipped” (she has HartmanHips) and a MarySue
**Taffe (implied) - her sister being in danger
**Breanne earns a special mention here as well - do ''not'' call her short nor a kid; she is 26, and she has the identification card to prove it!
*BewaretheNiceOnes: Larima (the scarier one), Daryl
*BigBrotherInstinct: we haven’t seen this in action with Bismun, but apparently Daryl thinks he is one
*BigDamnHeroes: few examples throughout the comic; two more prominent ones [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P156.html are]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P157.html Larima’s]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P158.html introduction,]] and when Taffe (courtesy of Muneca) [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n215.html came to Daryl’s rescue]] via a FastballSpecial. It’s InTheBlood, apparently
*BigEater: Daryl, obviously
*BigScrewed-UpFamily: the Estabens [[spoiler: Belinda poisoned her ''own father'' for the throne - which actually occurs in RealLife a few times]]
*BirthdayEpisode: subverted, since Daryl’s birthday was not the focus of the fourth volume. However, it was intertwined amongst the plot
*BishieSparkle: Enrique is always surrounded by sparkles. PlayedForLaughs
*BlessedWithSuck: Cinna and T-Pacificators of Fire [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P194.html they overheat]] when [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P195.html they get too angry]]; for all with powers, [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P038.html their lifespans are shortened]] (how much varies, depending on how often they use their powers)
*BlondesareEvil: averted with Larima, who is one of the Good Guys, but in a case of BewaretheNiceOnes, [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n201.html Larima gave a truly ''frightening'' DeathGlare]] before [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n202.html nearly drowning]] [[PsychoElectro Rendo]] the renegade (granted, he was asking for it); however, Enlil is one of the BadGuys (though sympathetic)
*Blonde,Brunette,Redhead: the platoon (and the entire cast - there is a nice variety)
*BlondeMenareEvil: [[ManipulativeBastard Enr]][[SleazyPolitician ique]], [[PsychoElectro Rendo]]
*Blooper/HilariousOuttakes: there are several “blooper” pages at the end of each volume
*BlueBlood: multiple examples, but the most prominent one is the royal family of Spain, the Estabens
*BoobyTrap: the water balloons Cinna used to “pad” herself up when she played The Bait
*Bookworm: Muneca, Taffe
*BoundandGagged: how Cinna and Egmond handled Rendo (which apparently wasn’t in the guidelines, according to Muneca)
*BrainyBrunette: Muneca
*BridalCarry: inverted. The Preserver Austin did this with his [[spoiler: dead]] little sister Amanda, another Preserver
*Brilliant,butLazy: Taffe
*Britain: Daryl hails from a rural area in northern England
*BrokenPedestal: Daryl originally idolized Cinna and Muneca... then she found out how they behave around each other (and she CallsThemOut on this)
*Brunette: Daryl (may grow to be a BrainyBrunette, may not)
*BrutallyHonest: Taffe
*Buddhism: Yuma
*Bunny-EarsLawyer: Larima (played with)
*BurningwithAnger: those with fire powers suffer from heatstrokes if they get too angry (see BlessedWithSuck)
*ButtMonkey: Muneca, though everybody else’s fair game as well
*BuxomIsBetter: lampshaded by Cinna and Qamra when discussing Rendo’s preferences while trying to decide who would be TheBait. (Taffe won’t do, because Larima “stole so much from her chest,” and Qamra herself stated that Cinna had to be “padded up” in order to be a successful The Bait.)
*BilingualBonus: the Torbern sisters occasionally speak in French (sometimes the author/artist provide translations, but not always)
*CanonForeigner: J.A. is more than happy to put in cameos of fan-made characters (both Pacificators and just regular people). They don’t play any role, however, they’re sticking just to cameos
*CardGames: apparently Breanne is renowned for the game she invented, ''The Way of the Fate'' (based on mythology and astrology)
*CastofSnowflakes: while some of the characters are more subtle in looks than the others (and the art style itself is relatively subtle, unless J.A. wanted the humor), they do have differences. A good example are the Spanish royal family - Princess Belinda and her brothers all share the (slightly) large nose, high cheekbones, and a strong chin, a combination which none of the other characters have
*CharacterDevelopment: already we get to see a bit of this, especially in the relationship between Cinna and Muneca (by the end of the fourth volume, they hate each other ''slightly'' less)
*CheshireCatGrin: Cinna gets some [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n184.html awesome]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n110.html ones]]
*China: implied to be a communist-like government with Un-Person and Brainwashing. We don’t know for certain, yet, as we only have vague comments to go by. The strongest hint so far:
-->Chinese Pacificator (no name given): I can make an arrangement to have [the renegade] transported to China and there, she can be conditioned to be a proper T-Pacificator.
-->Qamra: That’s not possible since your methods contradict our principles.
-->Chinese Pacificator: Spare me the talk on freedom and human rights.
*ChildHater: Cinna is a rare heroic version (though not quite so extreme - she just mostly avoids them, and the kids can trigger her temper much more quickly than usual)
*ChristianityisCatholic: subverted; so far, we only’ve seen the nuns (in an off-handed reference), are told that Zeus (PosthumousCharacter) was a Christian, and Kathy Lee, who is Catholic (WordofGod), but judging from the amount of ShownTheirWork in this story, we can safely assume that J.A. knows the difference between the Catholics, Protestants, and the Orthodox
*Close-CallHaircut: PlayedForLaughs with one of the [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n130.html “clown musicians”]]
-->Lead musician: This one almost died when he scrambled upon [the Preservers’] secret place! They tried to shoot at him, but by Elvis’ hair, he barely escaped with his hair intact!
-->Musician in question (wiggles his fingers through his hair): Actually...
**A serious one with Shiva and Egmond; they finally ended their duel as Shiva finally drew blood via a scratch on Egmond’s arm. Egmond only managed to hack off a bit of Shiva’s hair
*ClothingDamage: it’s not for Fanservice, however; rather, it’s a mixture of humor, ShownTheirWork, and a threat
-->[[PlayingWithFire Kathy Lee]]: Surrender if you wish not to lose your hair and your clothing.
*Color-CodedForYourConvenience: there is a [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P096.html required uniform code]]
*CombatPragmatist: some of characters (usually those with the powers of Fire or Air), but Taffe is an interesting case - while she ''does'' hit below the belt (GroinAttack), that doesn’t stand out. What does is that she takes advantage of her [[spoiler: deafness (a fact that very few people knew about her, since she uses her power of air to help her hear)]], as seen here (observe [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P152.html Gincoi’s]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P153.html shock]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n185.html and]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n186.html confusion]] when his MakeMeWannaShout attack failed twice)
*ComesGreatResponsiblity: implied to be why some of the regular Pacificators seem to be leery around the people with powers, and forced those to undergo rigorous training to become T-Pacificators (or be labeled renegades if they refuse)
*ComicallyMissingThePoint: a really great one.
-->Cinna (when discussing who would be the best candidate for being TheBait): Hey, what about Ex-Boss [Qamra]?
-->Qamra: Like he’d interested in some one-eyed woman.
-->Cinna: That’s right, you’re too old.
*CommonTongue: standard English; apparently, Pacificators are discouraged from speaking in their native languages [[spoiler: which making Muneca slipping into Spanish a character development showing she’s slowly growing more flexible about rules]]
*ControlFreak: Muneca
*CoolBoat: the Muscovite (Moscow, Russia) ironclad warship
*Cross-PoppingVeins: one of the many methods J.A. uses to show anger (most often on Cinna). Sometimes he uses the anime-esque version, but sometimes he draws the more realistic one (the vein in the middle of the forehead and the one in the neck)
*CuddleBug: Larima (Taffe is her favorite victim, though Daryl’s not far off)
*Curb-StompBattle (spoiler): once the platoon finally gets their stuff together
**[[spoiler: Also if you piss off Muneca big time]]
*CuteBruiser: Breanne (she’s the tiniest adult character thus far, but this doesn’t stop her)
*DamselinDistress: Larima [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P015.html apparently she’ve gotten kidnapped so often, her team are sick of it]]
*DarkandTroubledPast: implied with Daryl (and the whole platoon)
*DeathbyOriginStory: the Torbern sisters (which is why Larima hates violence; their parents were killed in a war - WordofGod)
*DeadLittleSister/TheLostLenore: Egmond’s wife is dead. Subverted, however, with the fact that his son survives
*DeadpanSnarker: Taffe (her favorite target is Cinna)
*DeathGlare: Muneca has a ''really'' scary one, [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n075.html as Aphrodite can asset]]
*DeathRay: the clown musicians claimed that the Preservers have one that can blow the moon up (much to the Pacificators’ disbelief)
*Deconstruction: Daryl was made a FatGirl, so there would be a work with a positive portrayal of a chubby person (WordofGod)
*DefrostingIceQueen: Muneca (it’s all thanks to Daryl)
*DidYouThinkICan’tFeel: Taffe
*DieorFly: seems to be how Daryl learns new tricks. She figured out how to [[Light'EmUp flare her staff’s orb]] brightly when her platoon was stranded out at the ocean, and [[spoiler: she discovered how to use [[ThePowerofTheSun solar power]] to sting people when faced with real danger (the Preservers had rifles and weren’t afraid to use them)]]
*DirtyCoward: Rendo
*[[spoiler: DisabilitySuperpower: Taffe; she’s deaf, but uses her power of air to amplify sounds, which is how hearing aids work in RealLife]]
*DownerEnding: several chapters [[spoiler: the most sad one, so far, is the end to Chapter 32 - the female Preserver had just been murdered; she’s the first death we see on-screen, and to top it off, she was ''killed in front of her brother'']]
*DrillSergeantNasty: Breanne
-->Breanne: You better or I’ll make you run for kilometers until you’re nothing but a walking skeleton!
**And later...
-->Breanne: Go! Go! Go! Before I crack my whip on you!
*DrivingQuestion: what secret does the Gateway hold?
*DumbBlonde: Larima (played with - she’s more of TheDitz)
*EeriePale-SkinnedBrunette: Nozimo (who is nocturnal)
*ElectiveMute: Egmond
*ElegantGothicLolita: Breanne (lampshaded - she’s infamously known as [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n061.html the midget with the gothic outfit who likes some witch stuff]])
*ElementalPowers: T-Pacificators and Renegades
**AnIcePerson: Larima, Tiamat
**BlowYouAway: Taffe, Enlil, Gincoi
**DishingOutDirt: Shiva, Khnum
**ExtraOreDinary: Khnum
**GravityMaster: Muneca
**Light‘EmUp: Daryl, Osiris (reflective), Aphrodite (invisibility)
**MakeMeWannaShout: Taffe, Enlil, Gincoi
**MakingASplash: Larima, Tiamat
**PlayingWithFire: Cinna, Shiva, Kathy Lee, Yuma
**PsychoElectro: Rendo; other users of lightning is at [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P137.html risk of this, since the brain runs on electricity]]
**ShockandAwe: Rendo
**[[spoiler: ThePoweroftheSun: Daryl]]
*ElementalRock-Paper-Scissors: based on science, however. A good example is water versus lightning - because water conducts electricity, the water user is vulnerable to lightning, ‘‘but‘‘ so is the lightning user as well (being wet increases the risk of electrocuting themselves). Another good example is fire against wind; the fire users have to be careful when fighting wind users because wind can put out fire or spread it beyond control
*EmotionlessGirl: Taffe
*EnemyMine: [[spoielr: briefly with the Pacificators and the Preservers in chapter 33, when the Shadow Sleuth attacked them]]
*EnsembleDarkhorse: judging from the fanart, [[LovableCoward Aphrodite]] is this
*EtTu,Brute?: Cinna to Daryl. PlayedforLaughs
*EveryoneCanSeeIt: Bismun and Qamra; possibly Christopher and Breanne (at least, Shirley and Daryl can see it)
*Everything’sBetterWithPrincesses: Princess Belinda Estaben of Spain
*Everything’sWorseWithSharks: whenever there are deaths out on the ocean, there will be sharks coming for the meal
*EvilLaugh: we get one from Daryl, of all people (in the ‘Cinna as TheBait’ arc)
-->Cinna: That new spinster laugh, where’s it coming from?!
**It’s a quirk of [[GoodGuys Breanne’s]]. Her laugh is like this - ''hss hss hss''
*ExactEavesdropping: inverted in a sense. Taffe eavesdrops quite a bit on her platoon, apparently because she could, but once she did managed to catch [[IncrediblyLamePun wind]] of a plot between the bad guys
*EyepatchofPower: [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n136.html Qamra]]
*FaceDeathwithDignity: that pirate captain who went down with his ship when it was sunk by the Russians’ ironclad warship
*FadeOut: yes, J.A. managed to get one to [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n269.html work quite nicely on paper]]
*FakeBoobs: in order to be TheBait, Cinna had to wear two large water balloons (since she has a small bust), which actually serves a double purpose - lightning users are vulnerable to water attacks, since it increases the risk of electrocuting themselves. It’s what Cinna used to capture [[PsychoElectro Rendo]]
*FalseCameraEffects: a few times (blurring and fading - most usually when a Flashback is unveiled - and there’s also fade-out, done by a series of shrinking black panels)
*FastballSpecial: an off-screen one with Muneca and Taffe, which doubles as a [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n215.html BigDamnHeroes moment]]
*FatGirl: Daryl (intentionally subverted - while Daryl struggles with her weight, she’s the main character, a sweetheart, and portrayed realistically)
*FieryRedhead: Cinna
*FightsLikeaNormal: Muneca is fairly adequate at [[SwordCane fencing]]; Taffe has her own special combo - 1) Kick the person in the knee with your steel-tipped boots. 2) Smack the person’s chin with a heel palm strike. 3) GroinAttack (remember to wear those steel-tipped boots? Good)
*FirstNameBasis: most of the platoon with each other (including Bismun - when he first met Daryl, he told her she could call him Bismun)
*Five-Man Band
**The Leader: Bismun
**The Lancer: Taffe
**The Big Guy: Muneca
**The Smart Guy: Cinna, Larima, Taffe
**The Chick: Larima, Daryl
**Sixth Ranger: Daryl
**The Medic: Daryl
*Flashback: we get a mysterious, yet-to-be-explained [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n058.html one of]] [[ http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n059.html Daryl and]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n060.html her grandmother Helen]]
**Flashback Effects: J.A. opted for the transparent-like style
*FlippingtheBird: Cinna does this a lot (with an interesting case of censorship - her finger itself usually are off-screen, but her hand are on-screen, with just enough visible for us to be able to figure it out), most often aimed at Muneca
*FloorboardFailure: or rather, dock failure - [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome Muneca ''threw'' the Shadow Sleuth ''through'' the dock]]
*FoolishSibling,ResponsibleSibling: played with the Torbern sisters. Larima loves being a Pacificator [[spoiler: (Taffe never wanted to be one)]] and takes her duty very seriously, but she’s is a bit more independent-spirited and whimsical when compared to [[TheStoic Taffe]]
*Four-TemperamentEnsemble
**Sanguine: Cinna
**Choleria: Muneca
**Melancholic: Larima
**Phlegmatic: Taffe
**Supine: Daryl
**Phlegmatic II: Bismun
*FragileSpeedster: Cinna and Taffe
*France: the Torbern sisters, Larima and Taffe, are from Rennes
*FriendtoAllChildren: Daryl and surprisingly Muneca
*FunbagAirbag: a fun one where Aphrodite was [[InvisibilityPower cloaked]] when Daryl walked into her (with enough force to cause Aphrodite to lose the apple she was snacking on)
*FunnyAfro: the clown musicians all have the same Elvis-style hairdos (even the women and the dog)
*FunnyBackgroundEvent: J.A. likes to put those in. Be sure to look closely at each panel, odds are good that you would find a gem
*GagBoobs: Aphrodite and Cinna got into a VolleyingInsults fight, started over whether Aphrodite’s boobs are real or not
-->Cinna: You call yourself Aphrodite?! You look totally fake with your boobs looking like overinflated water balloons!
-->Aphrodite: My body is real and natural! You look like a walking skeleton with a broken nose!
***It got worse (and more hilarious) on from there.
*Genki: Larima (PlayedForLaughs)
*GigglingVillain: Breanne (subverted in that she’s not a villain, but still giggles like a snake - ''hss hss hss'')
*GlassCannon: Larima
*GlowingEyes: when those with powers use their abilities, their eyes glow. A good example is when Muneca pulled that [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P117.html trick with the warship]] (the Muscovite captain had an OhCrap moment when he saw her eyes glow)
*GoodGuys: the Pacificators
*GoodScars,EvilScars: Bismun has a couple on his face
*GoodSmoking,EvilSmoking: so far, the only character we see smoking is Benito, assistant manager to Nozimo (Nozimo doesn’t think SmokingIsCool, however, and has been on Benito’s case to not smoke in her presence)
*GorgeousPeriodDress: Muneca, who wears Victorian-era clothes
*GoshDangittoHeck!: an interesting take on it, as J.A. uses symbols and pictures (most commonly a skull) in place of words
*GrayingMorality: to both Daryl and the readers
*GroinAttack: the author/artist J.A. likes to throw in Groin Attacks for the humor.
**Taffe’s [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P126.html favorite method]] of [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P127.html dealing]] with [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n107.html annoying guys]]; it’s for this very reason Taffe’s only shoe-wear are her beloved steel-tipped boots)
**Breanne managed to deliver one to a man more than [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P194.html twice her size.]] She gave one (via fists) to [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n203.html another guy]] who punched out [[WillTheyorWon'tThey? **Enlil gives Shiva [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P093.html one under a table]]
**Cinna is a [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n111.html rare female victim]] [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n112.html of this trope]] and it’s a case of ShownTheirWork, because it does hurt a girl as well
*GrowingtheBeard: while there have been some serious moments in the previous volumes, it’s in the fourth volume that shit ''really'' hits the fan (less funny situations, on-screen deaths, some serious fights with injuries, and dangerous renegades like Rendo breaks out)
*HairofGold: Daryl (the trope, not actual hair color)
*HandicappedBadass: Qamra
*HandsomeLech: played with Enrique (he’s a “sticky womanizer” [[WordofGod who was inspired by Yahoo’s “List of the top 5 men women should avoid” article]]
*HartmanHips: don’t call Larima wide-hipped or fat hips. It’s one of the few things that is guaranteed to tick her off
*HatesBeingTouched: Muneca to the point she considers it ''sexual harassment'' when Aphrodite [[CrowningMomentofFunny tickled her sides]]
*HeadbuttingHeroes: [[CaptainObvious Muneca and Cinna]]
*HeroAcademy/SuperheroSchool: we don’t know yet if they teach the regular kids together with those with powers, or separately, but there definitely are schools for Pacificators
*HeroicBSOD: Daryl experienced a mild one after her second mission; she contemplated quitting the platoon and starting anew
*Hinduism: Shiva
*HollywoodThin: Cinna, as lampshaded by Daryl (“You need to eat more.”)
*HonorBeforeReason: Muneca is very obsessed with her duty. [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P162.html This leads to problems between herself and her platoon]]
*HotBlooded: Cinna
*HugeGuy,TinyGirl: [[WillTheyorWon'tThey? Christopher and Breanne]]
-->Shirley: She has a taste for big men.
-->Christopher: The kind she can climb on like a monkey!
*HypocriticalHumor: Cinna reading the personal ads in hopes of finding a hot guy to date.
-->Cinna: More of those boring and desperate guys. They’re no good.
**Muneca gets a shot at this, too.
--->Daryl: Yeah, there are some oriental attires you can try. I can write my to my brother and ask for some catalogues.
--->Muneca: Perhaps, but I hear that they’re restrictive.
--->Cinna (whispering): Funny to hear that coming from a [[GorgeousDressPeriod heavy dresser.]]
*IJustWanttoBeNormal: [[spoiler: possibly Cinna. She doesn’t like her power of fire]]
*ILikeSwords: Egmond and Shiva
*ImpactSilhouette: we get [[http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P107.html one from Ferdinand Cook]] when he discovers that there are ''women'' aboard the ship he tried to hijack
*InelegantBlubbering: Daryl does this once (out of gratitude, however, because Cinna had apologized for her actions)
*InvisibleJerkass: subverted, as Aphrodite is a LovableCoward and a tease
*Invisibility: Aphrodite’s power (HilarityEnsues when Aphrodite meets Cinna and Muneca)
*Islam: Qamra is a [[WordofGod moderate Muslim]]
*Italy: Cinna is from Riccia
*Jack-of-All-Stats: Bismun
*Japan: Nozimo is from Japan, and she imports all kinds of things from home (clothes, umbrellas, etc), despite them being expensive, and carries herself as a ProperLady (observe her mannerisms)
*JerkWithaHeartofGold: Christopher, Breanne
*KatanasAreJustBetter: Bismun
*KlingonPromotion: Princess Belinda (spoiler)
*KnifeNut: Cinna
*LaRésistance: Basque against Spain
*LargeHam: Shiva
**Larima and Enrique have their moments
*LastNameBasis: Muneca, being the polite doll (Incredibly Lame Pun) she is, addresses her platoon and commander by their last name (complete with proper titles). The fact that Daryl responded in kind without promoting seems to be what warms Muneca up to Daryl so quickly
**In fact, Muneca is ‘‘such‘‘ a Proper Lady that she and Kathy Lee even address each other as Miss Powell and Miss Lee, despite being ‘‘best friends‘‘ in school (and clearly still very good friends)
*LawEnforcementInc./CorporateSponsoredSuperheroes: the Pacificators
*LegacyCharacter/SecretLegacy/PassingtheTorch: Daryl is implied to be this; her grandmother, Helen Churchill, was a very famous Pacificator of Light who helped to unite Italy and found many T-Pacificators (in fact, this is precisely what Bismun gambled on when he asked Daryl to join his platoon, forgoing the usual four-year training: “I’m placing my hopes on her.”)
*LennonSpecs: Benito wears a pair of those
*LittleMissBadass: Breanne (even though she’s an adult)
*LoadsandLoadsofCharacters: only four volumes (out of thirteen) are out, and already there are over thirty characters with a significant enough of role to get their own profiles
*LovableCoward: Aphrodite (Ensemble Darkhorse - Osiris is simply a coward, however)
*ManipulativeBastard: Enrique
*ManipulativeBitch: Breanne (she’s one of the Good Guys, though), Princess Belinda
*MarySue: Larima isn’t one (Averted Trope), but Enlil calls her this as an insult
*MeaningfulName: Muneca is Spanish for doll, Belinda is Latin for a beautiful snake (spoiler, and lampshaded by her father)
*MightyGlacier: Muneca
*MoodSwinger: Muneca and Cinna (their powers are implied to play a part in this - Muneca can become very depressed very swiftly, and Cinna is Hot Blooded)
*MoodWhiplash: J.A. sure can catch you off guard. At first, those Mood Whiplashes aren’t such a big deal, but then the fourth volume came... (Growing the Beard)
*Mooning: Jacob did it to taunt Cinna here (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P180.html)
*Mongolia: Bismun came from this country
*MostCommonSuperpower: Muneca likely wears a corset with her Victorian-era clothes, and she is ‘‘very‘‘ private, though Word of God have had implied that she has an impressive rack, and Cinna suspects this (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n249.html)
**Cinna also lampshades the trope
--->Cinna: Damn! Why do they (Fake Boobs) have to be so heavy?! There’s no way the superheroines in those crappy comics can run around with those weights! *MundaneUtility: discouraged because excess usage of powers can shorten one’s lifespan; still happens, though (examples include Cinna burning Muneca’s butt for absolutely no reason other to pick on her; Osiris using his reflective power to “hide” the magazine Enlil and Aphrodite was reading to get their attention)
*MyGreatestFailure: the death of Porenn Carlson, the Pacificator of Light before Daryl, and the resulting Balkan wars is this for Bismun (see here: http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P084.html)
*NaiveNewComer: Daryl
*NewMeat: Daryl
*NiceHat: Muneca likes her hats (she forced Cinna to pay for the hat she accidentally ruined), and she got Daryl one for her birthday
*NiceJobBreakingIt,Hero: Muneca and Cinna often, though this also extends to the rest of the platoon (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P027.html - “Ye be worst Pacificators I ever worked wid!”)
*NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: many of the characters were based on Real Life people
*NoGuyWantsAnAmazon: implied to be the case with T-Pacificators; Cinna had yet another failed date in which the guy bailed out on her right after he noticed “this stupid watch” (T-Pacificators are required to wear watches with identifying seals and their initials)
*NoSenseofPersonalSpace: Larima
*NoodleIncident: how Cinna lost her tooth (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P199.html); the time Muneca got stuck in the school air vent (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n250.html)
*NonverbalMiscommunication: Muneca didn’t understand Taffe was trying to tell her to stay quiet while Taffe was fighting a sleuth on the train (the sleuth didn’t know Muneca was there yet)
*NotSoStoic: Taffe (possibly - Larima’s safety appears to be her Berserk Button)
*ObfuscatingStupidity: Larima
*OccupiersOutofOurCountry: Basque and Spain
*OcularGushers: often a part of the Funny Background Event (a favorite of J.A.’s are men bawling after losing a bet)
*OneoftheBoys: Cinna (played with)
*Ow,MyBodyPart!: Ferdinand gets two of those when Taffe and Larima brawled with him:
-->Ferdinand (after Taffe’s Make Me Wanna Shout attack): Argh! Me ears! (then Larima makes him slip - Making A Splash) Arggh, me spleen!
*ParasolofPrettiness: Muneca
**Kicking Ass in All Her Finery
**Parasol of Pain
**Personal Parachute (Justified Trope - Muneca has the power of gravity: Gravity Master)
**Sword Cane
*ParentalAbandonment: the Torbern sisters (see Death by Origin Story)
*PieintheFace: Muneca gets one from Aphrodite (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n049.html). Cinna and Taffe laughed themselves silly when they saw her (With Teammates Like These).
*Pirate: the “wanna-be pirate” Ferdinand Cook. He’s an annoying pest to the town of Lisboa, however. But in the fourth volume, it looks as he’s finally becoming more of a genuine threat (spoiler: in the last pages of the fourth volume, he ended up with the Key to the Gateway)
*PerceptionFilter: an interesting take on the trope, as Osiris’ power is that he can ‘reflect’ surroundings and fool you into thinking you’re seeing something that aren’t there (see http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/PacificatorsVol3Chapter03n147coarse.jpg)
*PlotDevice: the key to the Gateway to the Heavens; the Gateway itself; possibly Cinna’s bracelet (spoiler: which was made from platinum, one of the “legendary metals from the past”)
*PowerCreep,PowerSeep: averted. J.A. is good at portraying his characters’ powers consistently (they can and do learn new tricks, and can improve their stamina and endurance, but it took four volumes for one of them - Daryl: spoiler - to learn a new trick - The Power of The Sun: spoiler)
*PowerCrutch: Daryl, Cinna, Larima (Daryl must have her staff with the orb; Cinna can’t create fire without fuel and oxygen; Larima must have access to water, and it’s not ethical to leech water from a human body)
*PowerStrainBlackout: speaking of power levels, we see this twice (because the characters only have a finite amount of energy, and have to rest to recover); the first time, when Muneca pulled her CMoA moment with the ironclad warship, and the second time, when Larima (also a CMoA) caught a cannonball and flung it back at the same ironclad warship (she was already running low on energy) - spoiler
*PrettyBoy: Enrique
*Pride: Muneca especially struggles with this (and it’s implied with Cinna, but nobody have called her out on this yet)
*ProperLady: at the first glance, Muneca seems to be one of those. Then one gets to know her... (Stubborn Mule, Pride, Control Freak, Berserk Button)
*RaceAgainsttheClock: the mission in Basque had to be done in a week; hurrying to stop the Preservers from stealing the ancient boat (spoiler)
*RandomPowerRanking: there are two systems of ranking - one for the renegades (1 to 10 with 1 being the weakest; for example, Yuma is a rank 7 Fire renegade), and one for the Pacificators (so far, we know about four, starting with the weakest to the most powerful: novice, B, A, and Elite)
*RandomlyGifted: possibly, but we don’t really know yet. What we do know is that those with powers are pretty rare, and it’s lightly implied that for a family to have two (the Torbern sisters), it’s unusual
*RealWomenNeverWearDresses: Cinna (played with), Taffe
*RedOni,BlueOni: the Torbern sisters (played with)
*ReligiousandMythologicalThemeNaming: the organized Renegades
**lampshaded by Cinna when Muneca tells them about the “young lad who can apparently run really fast.”
--->Cinna: Great, what’s his name? Mercury?
***Almost, but not quite. His name is Hermes.
*Revenge: Chapter 20 is titled “Sweet Revenge.” It’s a barrel of laughs whenever Cinna is concerned (just look at the cover - http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n118.html)
-->Larima: Ce sera une vengeance douce! (Translation: This will be a sweet revenge! - Title Drop)
*RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Allan (who is also a Generic Guy)
*RubberFace: Cinna pulls this on Daryl on the Chapter 12 cover
*SamaritanSyndrome: most obvious with Daryl (see quote at the top of this page) and Larima; the others have traces of this, as well (though not necessarily their only motivation - Muneca is equally Ambitious, for example)
*ScreamsLikeaLittleGirl: Ferdinand Cook when he realized that he’s ‘‘touching‘‘ Taffe, who is a girl (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n105.html)
*ScotIreland: Cinna (averted: she’s actually Italian); Kathy Lee is from Ireland, however her hair is a chestnut, rather than a straight red
*Self-MadeOrphan: Princess Belinda (spoiler - at least on the parental side. Their mother’s status are unknown)
*ShamefulStrip: it happened to Shiva (at first, Played for Laughs, but became a plot point; the thief was after the contract paper in Shiva’s pockets)
*SheCleansUpNicely: Cinna (however, she was an unwilling The Bait, complete with Fake Boobs http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n157.html)
*ShinyMidnightBlack: Taffe and Bismun
*ShownTheirWork: J.A. clearly did quite a bit of research on a lot, especially the main characters’ countries (Britain, France, Spain, and Italy); a good example is foods. Cinna (Italy) loves seasoning and spices, while Muneca (Spain) doesn’t (to the extreme degree that Cinna does, at least)
-->Cinna [after Muneca stole a breadstick from her plate]: Hey, you thieving doll... [Muneca bites into the breadstick and grimaces] Tee hee. That’s seasoned garlic bread. [Muneca throws the half-eaten breadstick into Cinna’s place with a wince] Eww, doll germs! (Foe Cooties)
*SiblingTeam: the Torbern sisters, obviously
*SimpleStaff: Daryl (she claimed to have inherited it from her grandmother)
*SirSwears-a-Lot: Cinna
*SleazyPolitician: Enrique (implied by Bismun, Qamra, and Word of God)
*SlidingScaleofIdealismVersusCynicism: the story starts out very up-beat, but we’re slowly starting to see hints here and there that everything’s not quite what it looks...
*SlidingScaleofGenderInequality: it passes the Bechdel Test, and it’s at level 5 (though amusingly, the main characters - the Harem Pla: Running Gag *ahem* I mean, Platoon 113 - are all girls except the commander: Never Live It Down). There are many supporting characters and it’s nicely balanced. J.A. enjoys making realistic, flawed characters, so you’ll see men and women of all kinds
**It must be admitted, however, that the numerous Funny Background Events tend to deal with men (J.A. seems comfortable with poking fun at his own gender)
*SlidingScaleofVillainEffectiveness: ranging from Credible (the pirate Ferdinand Cook) to High (Nozimo)
*SmartPeopleWearGlasses: just for reading, though. Muneca appears to be able to see far things fine (she may be farsighted)
*SmarterThanYouLook: Aphrodite is actually somewhat clever (she laid a trap for Muneca, for example)
*SoapBoxSadie: Larima. Played for Laughs lightly (Larima gives a rousing speech to Daryl - Large Ham)
*SourPrude: Muneca (subverted - she’s actually a very modest and polite person)
-->Cinna: That’s because you don’t like to be touched, let alone making love!
-->Muneca: ‘‘DON’T SAY VULGAR THINGS IN PUBLIC!‘‘ (Berserk Button)
*Spain: Muneca was born and raised in Madrid
*SpikyHair: Bismun (Breanne calls him “Conehead” - Lampshading)
*StaffChick: Daryl
*StandingBetweenTheEnemies: Daryl threw herself into a fight between Cinna and Muneca (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P171.html), but they didn’t see her, so Egmond had to stop them (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P172.html)
*StatuesqueStunner: Muneca is taller than many men (earlier on, she was drawn much shorter than Bismun and other men, though with Art Evolution, she has shot up in height)
*StepfordSmiler: Daryl (implied), Larima (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n043.html)
*StopBeingStereotypical: Cinna to Muneca (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P182.html)
-->Muneca: Oh? You’re not from the islands? (ScotIreland)
-->Cinna: Of course not! I’m from Italy, not Scotland or Ireland! That’s just some dumb stereotype about redheads like me!
*StubbornMule: Muneca, that silly stubborn doll (Incredibly Lame Pun)
*StunGuns: apparently the ancients had some kind of anti-rioting taser-like weapons which radiates something that stings people. The Pacificators don’t know what they do, only that they works. (Spoiler: Daryl took inspiration from this anti-riot weapon and discovered how to use The Power of The Sun for the same purpose.)
*Subject101: here’s an index on powers (both Pacificators and Renegades - http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/PacificatorsHowPowersWork.html)
*SuccessionCrisis: Spain
*SuperRegistrationAct: an interesting take on the trope. Rather than registering the people with powers, the people are forced to be either T-Pacificators or renegades. There’s no Take a Third Opinion at all
*SurroundedbyIdiots: how Taffe sees her platoon (including her own sister at times)
*SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: Emotionless Girl Taffe gets unusually flustered whenever Cinna teases her about Gincoi (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n200.html and http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n216.html)
*TakeaThirdOpinion: not allowed for the people with powers. Either they become T-Pacificators, or they’re labeled renegades. (See Wham Line.)
-->Taffe: The reality is that either we [with powers] become a Pacificator or be labeled as a renegade.
-->Daryl: But people should be allowed to decide on how they live their lives!
-->Taffe: Perhaps that’s how we have renegades like Shiva.
*TeamChef: Daryl and Larima
*TeamMom: the seventeen-year-old Daryl is this to her platoon (the youngest, Taffe, is 21; the oldest is Larima at almost 25). Daryl’s still settling into her role, but it’s pretty clear by the end of the fourth volume that she would definitely be this
*TeamPrimaDonna: Muneca (played with)
*TechnicalPacifist: Larima (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n137.html)
*TeensAreShort: averted. Daryl is indeed a little short, but she’s the same height as Taffe, and she’s still growing (and she is taller than Breanne). Muneca is the oddball, being a Statuesque Stunner
*Teeth-ClenchedTeamwork: Muneca and Cinna (really, does it needs to be said?), though it seems to be ‘‘very slowly‘‘ improving, thanks to Daryl
*Telekinesis: how powers work in-universe (that’s what the T-Pacificators stands for, as explained here - http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P083.html)
*That’sAnOrder: Taffe really doesn’t care much about being the leader of her platoon, but when she gives orders, they listen (she even got ‘‘Muneca‘‘ - who Hates Being Touched - to sit still and let Taffe touch her: http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n255.html, http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n256.html)
*TheBait: Cinna (she had it coming, though, and is it ever sweet - http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n138.html)
*TheChainsofCommanding: Taffe is assigned leader of the platoon by Bismun, but she couldn’t care any less; in addition to this, Muneca is very ambitious to gain power, and this causes friction between Taffe and Muneca
*TheCoatsAreOff: Muneca, being old-fashioned, peels off a glove and throws it at Yuma as a challenge (bonus point for smacking him in the face with it)
*TheEvilPrincess: Princess Belinda (spoiler)
*TheFashionista: Muneca and Larima. Daryl likes girly things, but feels far too insecure (Fat Girl) to wear them often; Cinna likes to dress “sexy” for her dates, but otherwise she’s not a fan of the girly girl things. Taffe is a Tomboy (who wears pegasus hairpins)
*TheFemmeFatale: Princess Belinda (as per Word of God, she was based on Tzar Catherine, who was rumored to use her body to gain political favors)
*The Gambler:Bismun (lampshaded here http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P180.html)
*TheGloriousWarofSisterlyRivalry: we haven’t seen any serious confrontation between Larima and Taffe yet (however friction definitely is there - Taffe refused to hug Larima back, for example, when they are reunited in Basque), but Word of God says that there is a rift between the sisters which Larima doesn’t realize yet
*TheGlovesComeOff: Yuma nearly gets Muneca with a bomb - she managed to parry in time, however, and it pissed her off (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n177.html, http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n178.html, http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n179.html, http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n180.html, http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n181.html)
*TheHeart: Daryl, Larima (Larima is more of the Face, really, while Daryl is the true Heart of the group)
*TheHyena: Cinna is this when it comes to Muneca
*TheMole: (spoiler) Qamra might be one, as implied here: http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH00P010.html and http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV03CH01n226.html
*TheNicknamer: Cinna (especially when it comes to Muneca, who ‘‘hates‘‘ being called “Doll” - naturally, Cinna plays with every variable of this)
*ThePessimist: Osiris (doubled as Played for Laughs and Fridge Brilliance, as seeing he was dead for a moment before being revived - Word of God)
*ThePigpen: Osiris to a degree. He’s not visibly dirty, but sometimes flies are seen buzzing around him (he doesn’t take enough baths - Word of God); also the King of Spain (spoiler: however, this may because he was dying from poison)
*ThePollyanna: Daryl
*TheProphecy: mentioned, but not addressed yet. Known as the “Prophecies of Ares”
*TheQuietOne: Taffe
*TheRunaway: Shiva ran away to escape Indian and family politics
*TheSilentBob: Egmond (lampshaded by Cinna and Daryl: http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P187.html)
*TheSpock: Taffe (played with)
*TheStoic: Taffe (however, see the Not So Stoic entry)
*TheUnitedStates: for unknown reasons, America have apparently isolated itself from the world. People from Europe, Africa, and Asia have gone there only to never return. The only Americans we know about are the orphan brothers Jacob and Travis (they stowed aboard a pirate ship to reach Europe), and the revelation that they’re from America was a surprise for the Pacificators
*TheVoiceless: Egmond (at least in the past - now he’s more of an Elective Mute)
*ThemeNaming: the author/artist, J.A., is a mineralogist; you can see this reflected in the names of some of his characters - Cinna is named after cinnabar; Larima after larimar; Taffe after taaffite; Bismun after bismuth
*ThrownExplosivesandIncendiaries: Cinna (goes with Power Crutch - those bombs contain the fuel necessary for Cinna’s power)
*ToiletHumor: subverted in a sense. Muneca was upset that the ship’s bathroom had been blown up by the Russians; Cinna later tells the story to the Torbern sisters about how Muneca had to squeeze into a closet with a bucket
-->Cinna: You should’ve seen her face when I told her that there was a second bathroom!
*TokenMinority: while there are characters of many backgrounds, Qamra is a special case, since the creator specifically wanted an Arabic person
*Tomboy: Taffe (lampshaded by Enlil, who calls her “Tomboy” - but Taffe likes pegasi, however she seems flustered when Daryl mentions that Taffe wears pegasus hairpins)
*TomboyandGirlyGirl: the Torbern sisters (lampshaded by Enlil and Shiva); also played with Cinna and Muneca
*TooDumbtoLive: Ferdinand Cook (the “wanna-be pirate”). How dumb is he? He mistook Taffe for a boy... ‘‘twice‘‘ (the first time: http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV02CH09P021.html and the second time - in which Taffe intentionally invokes the trope - http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n104.html and http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators2/MangaPacisV04n105.html)
*ToothyIssue: Cinna is missing a tooth (a Noodle Incident)
*TrademarkFavoriteFood: various breads for Daryl, tea for Muneca
*Tricked-OutShoes: Breanne wears a pair of tricked-out boots (which have hidden daggers and pepper spray projectiles)
*UnkemptBeauty: Cinna
*VictoryByEndurance: how we would’ve expected the Wizard Duel between Taffe and Gincoi to end, since they were pretty much equals when it comes to technique... and then Taffe takes advantage of her deafness (Disability Superpower) to confuse Gincoi and throw him off balance (spoiler)
*VomitDiscretionShot: happened to Daryl a couple times
*VomitIndiscretionShot: also happened to Daryl a few times
*Waif-Fu: Breanne
*WalkonWater: Word of God says that Muneca can do this with her power (Gravity Master) - though it’s more of being-carried-by-water-without-falling-into-it (additionally, Muneca doesn’t know how to swim). See the lower right corner on this page (http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/PacificatorsVol3Chapter02n059Coursepr.jpg)
*WeaponofMassDestruction: the Preservers are rumored to have found and hidden some
*WelcomeEpisode: Daryl
*Well-IntentionedExtremist: the Preservers seem to be this. They go to extreme measures to preserve the artifacts of the past, even going as far as to stealing from and ‘‘shooting‘‘ (and likely killing) Pacificators
-->Preserver: So much have been lost in the past, and we must obtain and preserve every relic we find regardless.
*WhamLine: the Spanish King gave one to his children when he named his daughter the heir to the throne; later, the Spanish King had another one with his daughter, Princess Belinda.
-->The King: It’s ironic that your name was Latin for a beautiful snake, and the snake turns out to be venomous. (spoiler: Self-Made Orphan; Klingon Promotion)
**Taffe also gave one to Daryl:
--->Taffe: I never wanted to be a Pacificator in the first place. (See Take a Third Opinion.)
*WhatKindofLamePowerisHeart,Anyway?: Daryl and other T-Pacificators of Light (commonly called “feeblers” - http://www.sailorenergy.net/MangaPacificators/MangaPacisV01CH01P162.html)
*WhattheHell,Hero: Muneca and Cinna (often)
*WillTheyorWon’tThey?: Breanne and Christopher (lampshaded in a note Shirley gives Christopher: “One of my dreams is to arrange a big wedding ceremony. When you and Breanne decide to go for it, please give me a call!”)
*WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: a serious risk for the lightning users (if they’re not careful, they can fry their brains). Rendo is an example of this
*WizardDuel: known as “The Way of the Power” - we get to see one between Taffe and Gincoi (spoiler: Taffe wins)
*WomanofaThousandVoices: Taffe has a talent for imitating voices, despite being deaf (spoiler). Later a Chekhov’s Gun when she uses it to trick Ferdinand (Too Dumb To Live)
*WordofGod - J.A. isn’t terribly uptight about keeping things secrets (he will keep spoilers a surprise, however); you can ask him questions and more than often he will be happy to answer
*WorkingwiththeEx: Bismun and Breanne (they only had one date, though)
*WrenchWench: Taffe (specializes in taking apart guns)
*YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters: Basque and Spain
*YouthfulFreckles: Played With. Cinna is 21 years old, but she’s often immature (Word of God)
