On August 15, 2019, at the end of chapter 3, the comic was put on an indefinite hiatus as the author revealed she has become unsatisfied with the story continuing as a webcomic plus wishes to pursue other interests. She didn't count out that it ''won't'' continue but wanted to looked into other avenues for the series. After a year, on August 2021, [[https://twitter.com/kaydavault/status/1428457992480038915?s=20 the author revealed on Twitter that the series got picked up by a publisher and will continue on as a book series]]. The first book will be be published in 2024.

However, as is the case when a webcomic jumps to the mainstream, the main webcomic link was taken down and [[https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/oddity-woods/list?title_no=328043 the pages for the Webtoon taken off and replaced by the announcement]]. Luckily the webcomic has been archived and [[https://archive.org/details/oddity-woods can be found here]].
