* DarkFic: This fan comic is way darker than the official ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' franchise. For starters, Sonic and his best friends are {{blood|yHorror}}ily killed by a [[BrainwashedAndCrazy mind-controlled]] Shadow in the DownerBeginning of ''first issue''. Then more misery ensues with shedding of red blood, ugly wounds, infrequent ([[PrecisionFStrike usually]]) mild profanity, some sexual innuendo, even a few instances of highly simple-looking yet erect ''nipples'', and let's not get [[MedicalRapeAndImpregnate into]] the tremendously [[BreedingSlave nastier]] {{Backstory Horror}}s of the Hybrids (FunnyAnimals in this story).

* FantasticRacism: According to lore, after [[spoiler:G.U.N.]] shut down [[GovernmentConspiracy their]] full-scale [[MedicalRapeAndImpregnate immensely disturbing]] {{breeding|Slave}} program, Hybrids, being {{Designer|Babies}} {{Tyke Bomb}}s {{implied|Rape}} to be [[ChildByRape by Rape]], had a long and especially hard time integrating into {{human|sAreTheRealMonsters}} society. They were mainly treated as second-class citizens, or [[{{Dehumanization}} "little better than dangerous animals"]], with the only lucky ones being kids who were HappilyAdopted by families who did not dehumanize them, like what happened Tails and Amy. While different countries offered different experiences, the US offered what's reminiscent of their real history of immigration and racism. While Sally Acorn led a Hybrid rights activists group that her ''[=SatAM=]'' friends were part of, Sonic's heroism was what helped highlight and lower the fantastic discrimination towards Hybrids.

* GovernmentConspiracy: [[spoiler:[[ArmiesAreEvil G.U.N.]]'s]] [[MedicalRapeAndImpregnate breeding program]] ''was entirely a secret'', even to the women beforehand, until it was exposed to the public and shut down. Then [[spoiler:G.U.N.]] [[TreacheryCoverUp covered it up]] again by [[InternalRetcon concealing the original history of the Hybrids]]. In general, they're working as the SecretPolice for [[spoiler:[[BigBad Nicole]]]].

* HalfHumanHybrids: The FunnyAnimal characters here are essentially {{Transhuman}}-type human-animal hybrids created as the result of gene mutations by Chaos Energy. In fact, they are literally called Hybrids. They were first created with gradual BioAugmentation by the "Ancient Echidnas", and then as an [[ArtificialHuman Artifical Hedgehog]] and DesignerBabies with GeneticEngineering by [[spoiler:G.U.N.]] to be superpowered {{Tyke Bomb}}s.

* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: The humans [[FantasticRacism discriminated]] against the Hybrids for a long time.

* MatureAnimalStory: Yeah, this may be about [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog three familiar hedgehogs]] on an adventure, but with occasional bloodshed and/or wounding, ([[PrecisionFStrike usually]]) mild profanity, a bit of sexual innuendo, partial but undetailed nudity, and the {{Backstory Horror}}s of the FunnyAnimals, with impregnations of numerous [[BreedingSlave human women]], it's clearly [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids written for teenagers]].

* SuperPrototype: Silver ([[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent at first]]) and his non-powered family members and friends to many other Hybrids (the comic's Mobian equivalent), who were originally created with [[DesignerBabies artificially-created sperm]] mutated [[LEGOGenetics with Chaos energy]] and impregnations of [[BreedingSlave countless human women]], most of whom were poor and from developing countries, because [[ArtificialHuman the process that made Shadow]] wasn't practical for mass-production.

* InternalRetcon:
** According to lore and issue 17, [[spoiler:[[TreacherousCoverUp G.U.N.]]]] suppressed the original history of the [[HalfHumanHybrid Hybrids]] (Ancient Echidnas, Project Shadow, [[GovernmentConspiracy their]] [[BackstoryHorror horrific]] full-scale {{breeding|slave}} program utilizing artificial impregnation, FantasticRacism against the Hybrids, Sonic and co's adventures and fights against Eggman), because of "that [[spoiler:'''[[BigBad Nicole]]''']] lady pulling their strings" and only gave the highly {{Bowdlerized}} and simplified version, with all of the {{Squick}} and NightmareFuel thrown out, for the people to learn. Only the [[spoiler:New Chaotix, including Silver's parents]], Sonic, Shadow, and Tikal know some of the true history each.
