''WebVideo/TwitchPlaysPokemon'' (TPP) is a social experiment in which commands representing buttons on an original UsefulNotes/GameBoy (up, down, left, right, A, B, start, and select) are entered into a chat on Website/{{Twitch}}, and then translated into a romhack of ''VideoGame/PokemonRed'' via an IRC bot. In short, [[HilarityEnsues over 10,000 people are fighting over a controller]]. Throughout its life, ''Twitch Plays Pokémon'' has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, and even a religion.

''Twitch Plays Pokémon Brown'', the second run of "Season 3", takes the mob to the region of Rijon, to the south of Johto. Brown is an extremely popular romhack of the Generation 1 games, and features an original plotline, new characters, locations and typesets, as well as a number of Pokémon brought in from later generations.

!!''Twitch Plays Pokémon Brown'' contains examples of:

* CanonForeigner:
** The entire run in relation to other main series runs, to an extent.
** If you consider Paul the same Paul from the [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries Pokemon anime]], then this is the first time the chat has taken control of an anime character.
* CallForward: The first thing Paul immediately sees when leaving his house was a small ledge. Later on, he and the mob have to traverse a ''[[http://pkmn.net/pictures/games_gs_betamaps/11.jpg ledge maze.]]'' [[note]]The beginning and ending parts of the maze were changed in this run to make it less frustrating in Anarchy Mode.[[/note]]
* DamnYouMuscleMemory: Despite being a Gen I hack, it uses a type-sheet present in Generation VI. Alongside the official types, [[http://rijon.wikia.com/wiki/Changes_in_type_chart five new types have been added]], with some Pokemon being reclassified into one of those.
* DavidVersusGoliath: Beedrill, who was level 38, ended up taking out the fire-type member of the elite four's Rapidash, which was level ''52.''
* EveryoneLives: No releases this time!
* TheGamblingAddict: [[RunningGag The mob ends up spending hours in the casino.]] This time its due to needing Rare Candies to level up Beedrill.
* GameMod: ''Pokemon Brown'' is one to ''Pokemon Red and Blue''. The game was edited again for the use of the stream.
* LaserGuidedKarma: One interpretation is that Paul is the Paul from the [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries Pokemon anime]], who became a host as punishment for his terrible actions in the anime.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: The protagonist, Paul, is widely speculated to be... a pizza delivery boy.
* PunctuationShaker: Per the norm of a run for the Pokemon caught. Paul's name was [[AvertedTrope selected from a default list]].
* SequelHook: Upon finishing the Ultimate Dungeon, Paul meets up with [[spoiler: the mysterious bird from ''[[WebVideo/TwitchPlaysPokemonCrystalAnniversary Crystal Anniversary]]'']] before leaving, and a screen appears saying the character will show up again in ''Pokemon Prism'' (the next run).
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: While grinding, [[https://youtu.be/cbdRYbhAD6Q?t=2m26s Paul comes by two "Seels" drifting through the screen]]. The mob is clearly frightened by the sight, but the NPC next to the Seels gives out no reaction.
