* ElephantInTheLivingRoom: This is why he hates Website/YouTube Rewind 2016. While he doesn't mind the video rehashing the memes of the past year, he's disappointed how it overlooks the more significant moments of the year: Creator/TheFineBrothers attempting to trademark the "WebVideo/{{React}}" label; WebVideo/{{H3H3Productions}} being sued by Matt "Bold Guy" Hoss, leading to the creation of the Fair Use Protection Agency; and [=Youtube=] CEO Susan Wojcicki's misguided attempt to implement the self-policing Youtube Heroes program.

* ArtisticLicensePaleontology: In the Trying To Watch for ''Laserblast'', Alex mentions the pterodon attack in ''Film/JurassicPark3'' and Reuben comments that Alex knows his dinosaur names well. The problem is, "pterodon" is actually a type of plant, not a type of pterosaur (it's likely Alex was getting confused with the similarly-named pteranodon). Reuben also refers to the pteranodons as dinosaurs, which is incorrect as they are actually pterosaurs.

** ''Tangled Up'', rather than a Mockbuster of ''Disney/{{Tangled}}'', was a couple of episodes of ''Britannica's Tales Around the World'', a collection of educational fairy tale shorts. At least this one was somewhat relevant to what it's ripping off... a sixth of the time[[note]]''Britannica's Tales Around the World'' is about similarities between fairy tales in different cultures - one well-known fairy tale, two more obscure tales with similar themes. The first episode covered Literature/HanselAndGretel and other stories of people being fattened up to be eaten, and the second covered Literature/{{Rapunzel}} (the story ''Tangled'' is based on) and other stories of [[GirlInTheTower Girls in the Tower]] finding true love. This means out of ''six'' stories, ''only three have anything to do with Rapunzel, and of those three, '''only one ACTUALLY IS Rapunzel'''''.[[/note]].

* CouchGag: At the beginning of every "I HATE" video, the first image is a warning that says "WARNING! SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH THIS IS MY OPINION. DON'T GET YOUR X IN A TWIST", where X represents a different word relevant to the topic of the video. For example, the word at the beginning of his "I HATE [[Disney/{{Frozen}} FROZEN]] is "snowman", and the word at the beginning of his "I HATE [[YouTube YOUTUBE]] video is "Sandstorm".

* DramaticReading: Did one for a Website/DeviantArt story called "Hope" in 5 parts [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjTRUQNgNnI here]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0dfhAN7NEU here]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IALjNLB3GPA here]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-am4HAHRTw here]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwMacD6ZuCA here]].

* HypocriticalHumor: In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjYieeQofR4&ab_channel=IHateEverything I HATE REVIEW SCORES]] he says that people who jokingly give bad movies good scores are a bunch of losers with nothing better to do. 50 seconds later he tells everyone watching to go to the Website/IMDb page for ''Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip'' and give it a 10/10.

* LampshadeHanging: Frequently used when Alex says something rather cynical, such as in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC0UrEHtlFU&t=12m08s I HATE YOUTUBE DRAMA]]:

* NavelGazing: Did a video on the 100 Worst YouTube videos, looking for himself. He was disappointed he only ranked 80th.

** His video [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xg6KXAfCbE "Keemstar Is Going Down (Pewdipie & Leafy?)"]] opens with him crawling around on the floor while rambling about Keemstar and him going down. It doesn't get better from there.

* TitleDrop: Mentioned above, but he actually doesn't hate ''everything'', but his topics and subjects vary from a certain fandom to an entire website, so the word 'everything' is metaphorical than anything. But in his '5 EPIC Ways To Be a YouTube Celebrity! ✔' video, he does drop his [=YouTube=] name literally.

* NiceGuy: While IHE's persona hates nearly everything, his real personality in his Trying to Watch and live streams shows him to be very soft spoken, patient, polite, and he's admitted to having taken a stab at writing a children's book in the past.

* OnlyOneName: IHE thus far has only revealed his first name, Alex, presumably due to the same privacy reasons behind hiding his face in his videos. There are other sources around the internet that list various vaguely similar-sounding surnames for him, and it could also reasonably be presumed that he shares his last name with his brother Jamie, but none of these surnames have ever been endorsed by Alex himself.

* TheUnseen: Alex has taken great care to hide his real face, sometimes superimposing the Alex logo over his head. Two pics allegedly of Alex show him to be quite attractive (which led to plenty of romantic [=DeviantArt=] of him.) His hiding his identity is due to his desire for privacy. Recent videos had him showing his face in experimental videos he shot when he was in his teens.

* ClickbaitGag: One of his videos is titled "5 Epic Ways to Be a Website/YouTube Celebrity!" It even has a check-mark in the title. The thumbnail has WebVideo/PewDiePie, WebVideo/{{Markiplier}}, a hot chick's face, and another hot chick's [[MaleGaze booty surrounded by a red circle with an arrow pointed at it.]] In the video, Alex discusses clickbait and various tactics that some [=YouTube=] channels use to garner clicks, such as everything in the title of his video as well as what he put in his own thumbnail.

* BigOlEyebrows: His avatar has some very prominent brows.

* "The Search for the Worst": Every once in a while, he reviews a video from the bottom 100 on IMDB in search of the worst movie ever (though he occasionally reviews movies out of the bottom IMDB). Was briefly on hiatus as a result of a Copyright Claim from Derek Savage for his review of Film/CoolCatSavesTheKids, but is now resolved and continuing the series.

** He makes a guest appearance with WebVideo/{{Caddicarus}} to review the ''[[Creator/DingoPictures Phoenix Games]]'' ''Peter Pan''.
