Read into that however you will.

* TheCastShowOff: You know that title card with a zillion pieces of fan art on it that look like they were cribbed from people's DeviantART galleries? Well, you're half right. They were all cribbed from one deviantART gallery: his own. In fact, the entire series was a spinoff of a series from his deviantART where he would draw an obscure character in a different style and try to get people to guess who it was. Ironically, he admits that, having spent so much time perfecting the styles of others, he technically never developed his own style.

** [[{{Hatedom}} A lot of people]] ([[HePannedItNowHeSucks especially]] [[MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic bronies]]) return the favor, feeling that ever since he started sharing his [[BrokenBase controversial]] opinions on [[MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic MLP's]] third season, he has become [[CausticCritic more negative overall]].

* TheOtherDarrin: He is quite displeased when Janine's regular voice actor is replaced and the character is redesigned.

* BigBeautifulWoman: Come up with surprising regularity throughout both his reviews and his work on DA. ** Quite averted for the most part. Even if his subject matter may not have had much positive impression, he usually manages to find a good number of redeeming qualities to balance the negative.

** Infamously, he hates pretty much every episode of ''Friendship is Magic'' from the 2nd season finale onwards (and later the series in general).

** Played straight whenever he says anything about ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.

* AccentuateTheNegative: Quite averted for the most part. Even if his subject matter may not have had much positive impression, he usually manages to find a good number of redeeming qualities to balance the negative.

* BerserkButton: CR does not like the [[UnusualEuphemism Unusual Euphemisms]] from the VideoGame/{{Battletoads}} comic.

* MerchandiseDriven: Chad clearly detests this. A key reason why he hates ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce'' and ''WesternAnimation/Ben10UltimateAlien'' as well as the reason he can't enjoy ''WesternAnimation/GeneratorRex'', fearing it'll get the same treatment given that it was from the same producers of the original ''WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}}''.

* NiceGuy: When the Critic does his usual flailing PsychopathicManchild thing about someone else going into his territory, CR is the only one who actually asks what's actually wrong.
** Subverted when it involves WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic. In fact, his NiceGuy demeanor compared to his loathing of the series is probably what strengthened the controversy.

** He's noticeably more critical in his ''Cheap Damage'' reviews, where a lot of the time he looks at poorly-made games. However, most of the time he still discusses redeemable qualities, as the debut episode of ''Cheap Damage'' opens with a rant at the over-saturation of {{Pokemon}} at the height of its popularity, and the ''Topps Attax'' baseball TCG received a scathing review from CR, explaining that the idea of a baseball-themed card game based on real-life players was a good idea, but the product failed on almost every aspect. Since then, Topps became a major target for criticism on the show.

** The ''Topps Attax'' baseball TCG received a scathing review from CR. He explains that the idea of a baseball-themed card game based on real-life players was a good idea, but to him the product failed on almost every aspect. Since then, Topps became a major target for criticism on the show.
** The review of ''Gormiti'' is probably the ANGRIEST he ever got in that show, and is among the few subjects CR found no redeemable qualities in.

* PetTheDog: His ''Friendship Is Magic'' animation for the Nostalgia Critic's ''Ghost Rider'' review, which doesn't bash the show at all, and even includes Flutterbat, indicating that he is still keeping up with the show on some level.

* BetterThanItSounds: According to CR, the ''AustinPowers'' trading card game. CR understandably thought [[ThisIsGonnaSuck that it would suck]] at first - it's a trading card game that was based on the second movie of a dated and over-saturated franchise, lasted a short time on the market and had some bizarre cards with lame effects. However by the end CR concluded that the game's rules were surprisingly deep and strategic, the cards themselves were well-designed and that the game invokes the feelings of the movie.
** Also the ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' franchise. Not just [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic G4]], but CR admitted that even the first two generations had ''some'' merits.

** Played straight to a ridiculous whenever he says anything about ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.

** Played straight whenever he says anything about season 3 of ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'', to the point where it's become a RunningGag on his Twitter.
