* BalanceBuff: A common trend in the earlier generations up till Gen 5, where the constantly changing mechanics meant that there was much more movement of Pokémon in-between tiers as each new element could constantly alter how each monster stood in a set time. Two notable examples are Alakazam and Machamp: the first thrived in Gen 1 where the Psychic type ruled supreme, still held strong in Gen 2 with the split of the Special stat, got stronger in Gen 3 by gaining new tricks, got relegated to UU in Gen 4 thanks to the Physical/Special split cutting in his coverage, but finally got back to being treated as OU in Gen 5 as he gained access to Magic Guard as his Hidden Ability. Meanwhile, Machamp started as near unusable in a generation dominated by Psychic types, became decent in Gen 2 with his hard-hitting attacks checking some of the best mons in the tier, got even better when he gained access to Guts in Gen 3, EVEN better with No Guard and Dynamic Punch...and then had a lackluster Gen 5 in virtue of his set and statline becoming insufficient to match the top Fighting types of the generation even down in UU.

** Staraptor is also this, being a Pokémon with strong abilities in Intimidate and, most importantly, Reckless, which meant he hit almost everything like a damn truck. Unfortunately, said power meant that each and every time it dropped into UU he began to overwhelm the tier, meaning it got stuck in the limbo of UUBL

** Komala's ultimate downfall in its debut generation. It's not at all lacking in good qualities: Comatose gives it a DisabilityImmunity to the major status effects, its stats are good, with great Attack, good Defenses, and Speed that's at least enough to outrun the {{Stone Wall}}s it would be tasked with breaking through, and a movepool loaded with good attack and support options. However, its relative lack power landed it in the PU Tier, where there were already a number of great Normal-types for it to compete with, including the likes of Kangaskhan, with at least one of those able to do Komala's job better in most scenarios.

** A few of the Pokémon that he has covered are competitively outclassed by their own pre-evolutions, such as was the case with Dusclops and Slaking, to the point that Vigoroth got its own episode entirely separate from Slaking.
** As a lesser example, Murkrow tends to appear in the VGC format considerably more than Honchkrow, though in this case, it's more due to the Prankster ability giving it a few unique tricks than Honchkrow being outright worse.

* TheRemake: False Swipe Gaming has done eighteen remakes of Pokémon videos including Dragonite, Scizor, Skarmory, Tauros, Chansey and it's evolution Blissey, Charizard, Heracross, Starmie, Meganium, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Articuno, Suicune, Lucario, Sceptile, Swampert, Blaziken, and Nidoking. These were done due to the channel's increased production value compared to their earlier videos. For example, in the case of Chansey/Blissey, their original video was barely 10 minutes long compared to their remake clocking in at a ''whopping 67 minutes.'' In Charizard's case it's even more extreme, going from a 6-minute video to almost as long as the Chansey/Blissey video.
