* MultipleDemographicAppeal: As Caine said "The Amazing Digital Circus is a place to be enjoyed by all ages!" and also by fans of different genres. The show is made for fans of SciFiHorror and PsychologicalHorror due to its existential nature and inspiration from "Literature/IHaveNoMouthAndIMustScream", fans of {{Zany Cartoon}}s due to its bouncy nature, and its lack of swearing anything too explicit means that it does indeed mean viewers of any age can watch it.

* DeathOfPersonality: If a player loses their will to live in the Circus and goes insane from the existential horror of their situation, [[spoiler:they transform into a giant mindless creature made of glitches and eyes that attacks anyone in sight. This is called abstraction and it's just as permanent as a biological death; even Caine can't do anything about it except try to prevent the players from abstracting in the first place by keeping them busy with his adventures. All anyone ''can'' do for the abstracted is to have Caine lock them in the Cellar where they won't hurt anyone and mourn the abstracted's loss of individuality and reason with a proper funeral.]]

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Several parallels are drawn between Kaufmo's situation and [[spoiler:[[DrivenToSuicide suicide]]. Ragatha justifies Caine's [[BreadAndCircuses adventures]] as a way to avoid "[[DrivenToSuicide something terrible from happening]]" and she is only later revealed to be talking about [[FaceMonsterTurn abstraction]]. After learning about what happened to Kaufmo, Zooble states that "[They] can't believe Kaufmo just gave up like that", and admits they thought [[NervousWreck Kinger]] would be the one to abstract next.]]

* UncertainDoom: At the end of episode two, [[spoiler:Jax releases Fudge, a monster that has a SweetTooth in a [[LevelAte candy world]], on the Candy Canyon Kingdom and essentially leaves everyone to die. However, the end result of this is never seen.]]

The story revolves around six troubled humans -- timid newcomer Pomni (Creator/LizzieFreeman), trouble-making rascal Jax (Creator/MichaelKovach), jovial optimist Ragatha (Creator/AmandaHufford), emotionally fragile Gangle (Creator/MarissaLenti), paranoid veteran Kinger (Creator/SeanChiplock), and moody cynic Zooble (Creator/AshleyNichols) -- who find themselves trapped in the [[ThePlace Amazing Digital Circus]], a zany [[{{Cyberspace}} virtual world]] full of infinite possibilities, except for two things: [[MagicalProfanityFilter swearing]] and [[YouCantGoHomeAgain leaving]]. Led by the goofy A.I. Caine ([[Creator/TheAutarch Alex Rochon]]) and his bubbly assistant Bubble ([[DescendedCreator Gooseworx]]), the six embark on all sorts of wacky, often traumatizing misadventures while trying to keep their sanity intact, lest something terrible happen to them...

* BreadAndCircuses: [[spoiler:This is the only solution Caine can think of to keep his performers from abstracting into {{Digital Abomination}}s; keep them happy and stimulated with games, food, and adventures while dropping anyone unfortunate enough to abstract anyway into the cellar. As made clear by how many are in the cellar (and the frayed mental state of the inhabitants) it's not the best solution]].

* {{Foreshadowing}}: In the pilot, [[WalkingSpoiler Kaufmo]] is stated to have not shown up for the introductory song the performers were recording that day. Ragatha later tells the newcomer Pomni that Caine tasks the group with various activities in the Circus to keep their minds healthy. If someone's mental state completely breaks down, something "terrible" can happen to them. [[spoiler: They soon discover that he (Kaufmo) had [[FaceMonsterTurn abstracted]] and became a [[DigitalAbomination mindless beast]] while [[SealedEvilInACan trapped in his room]] ''while supposedly trying to find a way to escape from the Circus'']].

* SealedEvilInACan: [[spoiler:Kaufmo]] is implied to have been dormant in his room prior to [[spoiler:Jax opening the door]], because [[spoiler:the rooms are seemingly soundproof[[note]]Kaufmo didn't react to the performers' presence until his door was opened, and none of them were able to hear his abstracted noises before it was open.[[/note]] and an abstraction doesn't have the hands or brainpower to open a door]].

* SympatheticWince: When Pomni vomits from disorientation, a few of the other performers can be seen reacting in the background -- Ragatha and Jax wince, and Zooble shakes their head.

* GunsInChurch: [[HeroicComedicSociopath Jax]] maniacally brandishes a pistol while on the Candy Canyon Kingdom adventure during the second episode.
