* ComplainingAboutPeopleNotLikingTheShow: In universe in one of the 4-Y Records episodes. Despite spending almost every episode insulting other people's music tastes, the shopkeeper gets very annoyed with a customer for hating [[MindlessSelfIndulgence The Left-Rights]].

** Also, now a WomanInWhite, as opposed to being a gothic WomanInBlack.

** Point Of It All Part 1 reveals that [[spoiler: Foamy and the other squirrels are actually a puppets that Germaine made up as a creative outlet to tackle her personal issues, and Mammed Udi from tech support is actually her therapist.]]

* AllJustADream: It's reveal that most of the strange, violent and lewd things that occurred since the reboot was all fantasies caused by Germaine's SanitySlippage. Things such as the exploding duck, random things cumming on Germaine, her magic breast ring, co-owning Franklin's gay coffee shop and Anchovie's explicit advances on her among other things.

* LostEpisode: Mathers has taken down the episodes revolving around BreastExpansion.

* EverythingsNuttierWithSquirrels: Pilz-E, full stop. The other squirrels, while certainly nutty, are overall a lot less jittery than their species is typically portrayed in fiction.
** Foamy early on was a pretty classic NuttySquirrel, before he started showing his snarky side. His speech has also slowed down to almost-normal compared to his first appearances.

* VerbalTic: Pilz-E tends to insert sound effects into his rapid-fire speech
* ViewersAreMorons: Mathers released a cartoon in which Foamy slowly and carefully walks you through Germaine's character development from the earliest cartoons to the current status quo, and berates you for needing him to hold your hand through this stupid cartoon instead of getting all this when it happened. Apparently the bulk of NY's audience is comprised of the people it routinely mocks and derides as wastes of humanity.
** It's even more hilariously meta how he demands everyone see Germaine as a human being while insisting in the same sentence that she's a flat comic book "everywoman" character. All we need now is for J.I.M. to appear in the episodes as himself, and it will become the web animation equivalent of Dave Sim's ''ComicBook/CerebusTheAardvark''.

* AlternateTimeline: Foamy's explanation on how his reboot button works; the user's consciousness is sent back 10 years to the past where they get to experience déjà vu and have a second chance in bettering their lives while the user in the present timeline continues to live as they normally do (usually for the worse). [[spoiler: "Exit the Asylum" reveals most of it may not have been fully true due to the reveal of Germaine having made up most of her life via self inflicted delusions. It is conirmed in Filling in the blanks that the early episodes of the reboot where true but somewhere after Germaine got hired at the Wal-Mart knock-off is where its starts to be a dream and nothing more than her broken psyche.]]

* AlternateTimeline: Foamy's explanation on how his reboot button works; the user's consciousness is sent back 10 years to the past where they get to experience déjà vu and have a second chance in bettering their lives while the user in the present timeline continues to live as they normally do (usually for the worse). [[spoiler: "Exit the Asylum" reveals it may not have been fully true due to the reveal of Germaine having made up most of her life via self inflicted delusions.]]

** Fixed...kinda...with prescription medication, but after Foamy flushed the pills down the toilet, the slippage has started again with "Lunch With Tha' Hatta".
*** And now it seems that the "vague feeling of deja vu" is becoming more like "actually remembering the other timeline" as of "Doctor, Who Broke Your Brain?". The Boob Ring may be partially to blame though. She goes through several moments of slippage with the screen turning red for a split second with the following words (in order):

----> "I'M NOTHING"
----> "SEX OBJECT"
----> "DEHUMANIZED"
----> "SLUT!"
----> "WHORE"
----> "ABUSE ME"
----> "REALITY GONE"

** Suzie Tune does this in Foamy's rant called "Gluten Free" to help Foamy make a point.

* Foamy: JerkAss to top them all. Convinced that [[HumansAreMorons Humans (& all other Squirrels) Are Morons.]] Intends to conquer the world through his "squirrely wrath" and the spread of his card cult. Loves carbs, coffee, and cream cheese.
* Germaine: Gothic/punk misunderstood poet, and the closest the series has to a StraightMan. She is a passionate poet, and constantly frustrated with the problem of wanting to earn a living through her art and the expenses of life in New York City. After going through stages of loathing men, manipulating them, becoming a slut to get what she wants from men while denying it, and then gaining weight in an attempt to stop men from hitting on her (which didn't work), Germaine became depressed and suicidal due to being conflicted with her morals and her sexuality helping pay the bills while dealing with her enormous weight gain. Germaine then left the city and had gone off backpacking in an effort to turn her life around. She is also bright, very tough (when not depressed) and the most empathetic and well-balanced character in the series. Since the 2011 reboot, Germaine has become a bit more social and brushes off Foamy's rants. Germaine is the ''only'' character in the series not voiced by [[ManOfAThousandVoices Jonathan Mathers]], and in the earliest episodes she was TheVoiceless. Starting with "Hypnotic Foamy", she is voiced by Dawn Bennett.
* Pilz-E: Jewish Squirrel. Described by Foamy as "Woody Allen on Crack" he is a neurotic, pill popping [[IncrediblyLamePun nut]][[CloudCuckooLander case]]. Has every mental disease known to man (apparently they're all transmittable to rodents), though Germaine and Pilz-E himself has hinted a few times that all his diseases are psychosomatic, and he's just a horrible hypochondriac, and the other half of the diseases he isn't making up are just side-effects of his other pills. Frequently used as a AuthorTract on American society's over-reliance on prescribed medication.
* Begley: British punk squirrel. Anarchic, perverted and sporting a purple mohawk, he nonetheless aims to be extremely polite and generally conform to as many American stereotypes of English people as he can. A firm fan favourite, despite not appearing in many episodes [[BreadEggsMilkSquick and once raping Germaine with a voodoo doll.]]
* The Hatta': Stereotypically black squirrel. TokenMinority and AngryBlackMan (er...squirrel). " I is mad, and I is a crazy motherf***er when it comes to tea". Possibly the most offensively stereotypical character on the show, to the point that other characters frequently comment on it. Also the only openly racist character on the show, including against black people that aren't as much of an urban stereotype as he is.
* Franklin: Brainwashed chain coffeehouse employee and CampGay. Frequently ends his sentences with "[[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch bitch]]", has worn Germaine's underwear at least once. Foamy hates him more than humans in general, and once ( when Franklin tried to backtalk him) carved a shopping list on Franklin's back. "It just says cream cheese, over and over."
* Anchovie: Pizza guy and Germaine's stalker. Sends Germaine perverted gifts, takes photos of her when she's not looking and writes her creepy letters and poetry. Although he is equally interested in Germaine regardless of her weight (which has ranged from stick thin to morbidly obese), he is less interested in her well-being than her potential as a sex object. There are suggestions that Germaine and Anchovie have had paid sexual encounters and her attitude towards him is generally annoyance. [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep Anchovie got his name for the lingering smell of anchovies that follow him everywhere he goes, due to having been a pizza delivery guy for so long.]]
* Mammed Udi: A person from India working as ''the'' only person in computer tech support for an outsourced company on all hours of the day. Generally is of no help by offering solutions that generally do not work or things people could have done themselves. Also gets electrocuted by a shocky monkey if he works too slow. On his 5th appearance, he gets fired (and ate the shocky monkey) . He now works a variety of odd jobs, including support hotlines and running a pharmacy. Generally overworked and not particularly interested in his job. Serves as the AuthorTract on how outsourcing is making tech support even more difficult to deal with while also showing at the same time on how people calling for tech support act like is supposed to get things right the first time.

* ShoutOut: "Don't you watch {{Fringe}}? You should watch {{Fringe}}."

** Post-reboot, after Germaine gets a breast reduction she begins to somewhat regret the decision after figuring out she won't get big tips anymore at her barista job (where she wears an outfit that shows off lots of cleavage). Foamy informs her about a ring that can let her control the size of her breasts so that way she can have huge boobs only when she wants to, and by the end of "A Change of Heart" she's seen trying it out in the bathtub, going up to sizes so big that her StalkerWithACrush, Anchovy, peering in from outside her bathroom window [[YourHeadAsplode has his head explode]] from excitement. In "Big Tips" shes shown using the ring to make her breasts bigger than her head, and getting bigger tips than ever, [[spoiler: which gets her fired in "Breast Milk Lattes" since more people were coming in to give her tips than to buy anything.]]
