* SpannerInTheWorks: Despite his ineffectuality, Rockman ends up being helpful to the heroes. [[spoiler:Because he got frustrated enough to throw away an E-Tank that was then eaten by Pac-Man, Thomas had the opportunity to recover from his first defeat, escape Pac-Man, and challenge Sylvia again.]]

* FireForgedFriends: Thomas and Mr. X start out as bitter rivals but by the end of "Final" they become friendly, and they are still sparring buddies by the 10-years-later "Revenge". [[spoiler:"Romatic X" shows Mr. X has apparently developed feelings ''way'' beyond just being friends, though.]]

* LetsYouAndHimFight: As explained in the epilogue of "Zero", [[spoiler:Mr X fights Thomas in the original because Mr. Z (trapped in Sylvia's body) convinces him that he has learned the error of his ways, but Thomas doesn't buy it. This gives Z enough time for the seal bounding him to break off, setting him free.]]
* MentorOccupationalHazard: [[spoiler:Sylvia becomes the master for Thomas and X in "Zero", and then dies sealing off Mr. Z in her body.]]
* MobileShrubbery: Rockman uses the old cardboard box trick to sneak up on Sylvia.

* RockBeatsLaser: Gombe from ''Ikki'' defeats a ''VideoGame/{{Gradius}}'' Big Core with his bamboo spear.

* SealedEvilInACan: [[spoiler:"Zero" shows the reason Sylvia was chair-bound in the original video: she was not Sylvia, but Mr. Z in Sylvia's body and he was sealed in the chair by the actual Sylvia using [[Franchise/DragonBall the Mafuuba]], thought only for 1 year.]]
* ShoutOut: The concept is a reference to an UrbanLegendOfZelda claiming that Thomas could fight Sylvia in the original game by finishing all of the stages enough times in a row.

* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:Had it not been for Rockman getting so frustrated he dropped an E-Tank which was then eaten by Pac-Man, Thomas wouldn't have recovered from his first defeat and Sylvia would have likely won.]]
* SuddenDownerEnding: At the end of ''Revenge'', [[spoiler:the sun crashes into the Earth and destroys it]].
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: ''X' Turbo'' has Sylvia, still tied to the chair, utterly dominate everyone in her way... but when she reaches the stairs, she's stuck, because being tied to a chair means she can't climb them. She tries anyway and tumbles backwards.
* TakingYouWithMe: Seeing how invincible Princess Peach is, Green Giant E. Honda [[HeroicSacrifice decides to take her down with him by hurling together into the Sun.]]

* AllMenArePerverts: Partway through ''Natraps X'', Thomas is offered a wish by [[Franchise/DragonBall Shenron]]. He wishes for a pair of women's underwear.
* AlmostDeadGuy: In "Zero", [[spoiler:Sylvia appears to die in Thomas and X's hands, but she turns up after their attempt at stopping Mr. Z fails, taking advantage of the distraction to seal off Mr. Z before dying for real.]]

** In the original video, Rockman enters the Konami Code and powers-up a wave of popcorn enemies (including giving them Options and Shields) which annihilate him.

** Sylvia, the not-so helpless DamselInDistress from the original, takes a turn into an evil super-powerful martial artists here. [[spoiler:Then "Zero" reveals she's not Sylvia, but Mr. X's superior Mr. Z who forcibly changed bodies with her, and Sylvia died sealing him off in the chair to stop him.]]

* CurbStompBattle: Rockman's rivalry with Sylvia is utterly one-sided. He manages to hurt her exactly once in "Sylvia ga Taosenai", when he goes through Manga/{{Doraemon}}'s Anywhere Door and blasts her in the back. She weathers the hit, but Rockman doesn't survive her retaliatory attack.

* TheDragon: Sylvia doesn't really has a "right-hand man", but the hyper-powerful Princess Peach seems to serve this role anyway.

* FearfulSymmetry: A couple of times, beginning with Thomas and Mr. X's fight in the first video, as well as the ending of "Final".

* GroinAttack: Since Sylvia's arms are bound, she kicks Mr. X in the crotch, including a "CriticalHit!" message.

* InfiniteOneUps: The first DeathMontage has VideoGame/{{Spelunker}} using the Koopa Shell Bounce trick before killing Rockman. The second has Rockman, reduced to one life, getting his revenge and some of his lives back by bouncing on Spelunker in the same way.

* KamehameHadoken: Thomas and other characters commonly use the Hadoken. Sylvia uses the more powerful red version.

''Natraps X'' is a series of Japanese {{Web Animation}}s parodying the [[UsefulNotes/NintendoEntertainmentSystem Famicom]] game ''Spartan X'' (known in the West as ''VideoGame/{{Kung Fu|Master}}''). While most of the series follows the game's protagonist Thomas, the core of the experience is a mash-up of dozens of different video games, as well as a handful of non-video game properties. After the first 15 seconds, [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Koopa Troopas]] and ''Franchise/{{Castlevania}}'' zombies are crawling towards Thomas and he takes out a {{Mook}} with a [[Franchise/StreetFighter Shoryuken]]. The off-the-wall action just escalates from there and doesn't let up, even when Thomas finds his captured girlfriend Sylvia, who is subsequently challenged by [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic Rockman]].

Originally a trilogy, there are roughly twice as many parts to the series now.

* UnexpectedGameplayChange: In "Final", Thomas fights the Vaus from ''VideoGame/{{Arkanoid}}'' in a ''VideoGame/{{Pong}}''-style deathmatch. Immediately after, Thomas ends up in a ''VideoGame/{{Tetris}}'' DeathTrap fending off FallingBlocks.
* VisibleSilence: Thomas and Sylvia both say "..." upon encountering each other in "Final."
