While this minimalist setup may have been rooted in budget/time restrictions originally, later on, it became a conscious choice; Grade has explained that he's rejected a fellow creator's offer to send him a free microphone, specifically because he didn't want his style of video to change. In his mind, the minimalist nature of the videos is a part of them.

* ButNotTooBlack: In his "Racism Test" video, Grade himself has stated that he is "a man of color" and briefly drew himself with dark skin and an afro.
