[[WMG:Episode 3 will involve TimeTravel.]]
We know that the Demon can provide visions of potential futures, meaning that it has some means to interact with the flow of time. In episode 3 it will reveal that these abilities are much more extensive. Depending on the route the player chooses, Andrew will somehow make use of this to go back and [[SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong create a better future]] for their family. He will try to make sure Ashley has love and companionship from their parents and others rather than becoming too dependent on him.

This is hinted at by screenshots in the recent progress reports: [[https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2378900/view/4061752300809628125 one]] shows the Demon's realm with a large portrait of four ghost-like characters, colour-coded to represent the Graves Family. The figures are all wearing warm smiles, suggesting a happy family, which we know is not the case for the Graves family in the current timeline. There is a recurrent visual theme centred around the [[ArcNumber number four]]: There are four buttons beneath the portrait, possibly representing options for changing the timeline. Next to the portrait what seems to be Andrew's soul stands in front of a large grandfather clock with four handles. There is also a table with four empty chairs and a matching number of plates. The caption of the scene reads "You sort of remember clocks. and time". This area will somehow be relevant to altering the past to improve the Graves family situation. The presence of Andrew's soul indicates it is he who will be trying to alter the past.

In another screenshot in the [[https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2378900/view/3890611710942490018 previous progress report]], we see Andy in school talking to Nina and Julia, asking if they could invite Ashley to sit with them sometime. This is Andrew's soul inhabiting the body of his younger self, trying to foster healthy friendships for young Ashley and prevent [[StartOfDarkness Nina's death]]. The same progress report also has a screenshot showing the whole Graves family along with two elderly characters (possibly grandparents) gathered together. This may be an intervention arranged by the time-travelling Andrew to encourage bonding among his family.

* There is also the fact that they never even contemplate DNA evidence being collected and used against them (Andrew even says that he is counting on [[spoiler:their parents]] being unidentifiable from just their bones alone). This means that the mid-90's are about the latest period it can be set in, as the OJ Simpson murder trial in 1995 thrusted DNA evidence into the public consciousness and media like Series/CSICrimeSceneInvestigation that started in the early 2000's reinforced its reliability to the general public.

Although Ashley has not shown much proclivity towards long-term thinking she may get it into her head that an exceptionally strong way to keep Andrew in her life long-term is to have a child with him, either intentionally (such as by sabotaging birth control) or as an accidental result of unprotected sex (if they never bothered with birth control to begin with). She might get this idea from media/overheard gossip, an unearthed memory about her mother doing the same thing to keep her father around or possibly as a way to force Andrew to choose her over Julia should Julia re-enter the story. The Entity may even be encouraging this outcome to possess the child or use it as a vessel.

All of which, of course, bodes ill for the child in question [[BabiesMakeEverythingBetter as we all know babies are nothing but a net positive to a given situation]] [[SarcasmMode especially ones involving deeply toxic relationship dynamics]].

* The Coffin of Andy and Leyley takes place in the 90s, considering you don't see Computers, cellphones, and they relied on TV and Newspapers and magazines for information.
** They would never have gotten away with half the stuff they did had it been in the mid/late 2000s and forget about today.

From a car guy perspective, here's what I can infer based on the vehicle designs.
The cars are roundish but still retain the boxy characteristics of the 80s which would date the designs from mid 80s to mid 90s and would be common used cars until the early 2000s, so it could it could be evidence assuming its not just a design choice. The front ends are from the same time period, too.

Based on the interior of the car they stole, the hollow headrest was not common by the 2000s, but I had seen it quite a bit on cars from the mostly late 80s and some from the 90s. The pattern of the seats in the center also dates it from 80s to early 2000s at the latest.

Here's what I can infer from everything else:

The prevalence of fat [=TVs=] means that it couldn't have taken place past the mid 2000s, since after that they became much more affordable.

The neighbor at the start was using a boom box.

The telephones they were using didn't have digital displays which I don't think were mainstream until the 2000s.

There was a PC in the wardens' office or at least it looks like PC monitor.
They did have cell phones during the 90s, they just weren't cheap, neither was the service which also had limited calls. If they show flip phones, then it has to be late 90s.

There were gaming consoles in the 80s and during the 90s there was the Nintendo SNES, Nintendo 64, gameboy and the first playstation.

* Episode 2's Decay routes will end with Ashley having a premonition that she would do something so unforgivable, that her brother decides to end things in a MurderSuicide. Which begs the question on what exactly will she do. Some possible theories include:
** Ashley's dream at the end Episode 2 heavily implies that Julia, Andrew's ex-girlfriend, will play a big part in a future episode. When it looks like Julia and Andrew might get back together, Ashley will sacrifice Julia's soul to the Entity without Andrew knowing. When Andrew finds out the truth, he decides to end things once and for all.
