Because, seriously, what are the chances ''Shaina'' would be willing to share? More than he thinks, especially if they're all drunk, but he'd never guess this.

* Adding to this, ''Manga/SaintSeiyaEpisodeGA'' establishes that Deathmask was trained by Cancer Deathtoll-who fought in the previous Holy War against Hades, thus had died ''over two hundred years before Deathmask's birth''. While it would be perfectly in character for a Cancer Saint to come back from the dead in some form to train his successor, the fact it actually happened (and that it was someone who had died over two hundred years ago at that) doesn't say good things on the status of the Saints when Deathmask was trained.

In the anime, he was responsible of creating the Steel Saints, so it won't be something far fetched for him trying to create "the perfect warriors" in order to protect Earth via genetic engineering. He is the "father" of the Bronze Saints (And the other 90 kids) in the sense they are modified clones of him. And it also it would explain why the main characters are perfectly able to survive plenty of stuff that would kill an ordinary human (Such as massive blood loss).

[[WMG:Using Cosmo accelerates aging until the body is in its prime, and then slows it down to keep it there longer]]
Would explain why the Bronze Saints look in their twenties while being from 13 to 15, and why Shura didn't change in the slightest from a year in the 13 years between Aiolos' escape from the Sanctuary and Saori's return. After all, we know from Dohko that Cosmo can influence the user's aging...

[[WMG:The Saints look older than their ages suggest because the year is longer on their world.]]
Even though it's similar to our world, it is clearly not the same, so it might be that their year is longer than ours. Given the Bronze Saints look about 20, that would make them 1.5 times their alleged age. So the year on their planet is 547.5 days (leap year every other year).

[[WMG:The Sanctuary has influence over the world's astronomers and the Interstellar Astronomic Union and used it to muddle the information on how many Cloths actually exist and their respective constellations]]
[[ExpandedUniverse The "Gigantomachia" novel]], written with Kurumada's supervision, states there's potentially more than 88 Saints and not all of them correspond to a modern constellation, pointing out the recent existance of the Cerberus Silver Saint in spite of his constellation being now obsolete, and given Sanctuary ''has'' some (willingly restrained) influence over the world's governments it could well be their doing. This is done to mislead enemies, that could otherwise read a list of constellations and see the exact number of Saints in existance and guess which powers they may have based on their constellations and their myths-and if they did so they would be caught with their pants down by Saints of obsolete constellations and other asterisms.

* It didn't make sense anyway, as Marin was already a Silver Saint herself when Seiya arrived at Sanctuary, and even assuming she had just become one she had been there for her own five years training, and Seiya only bought it because he was so desperate to find his sister he didn't think it throught.

* A normal bronze saint may be physically fit, but considering the arduous route to get in this condition, most of the candidates actually die before they can even hope to get a cloth, (remember, of 100 kids they sent into training only 10 survived) isn't that surprising. Also having a body incredibly healthy doesn't mean you will live to see your eighties, if you consider the violent environment they live, Internal fights (which seem to happen a lot on the rule of Saga as the pope) and minor crisis tend to take high tolls of the saints in turn. Also they probably wouldn't be as much as a hurry to recruit people until Athena is reborn or the next Holy war get near which is 200 hundred years each time. It is probably easier to manage fewer but more effective saints between conflicts.
* At least in the anime continuity we know of a grey-haired Silver Saint, Altar Ares (the guy who Saga killed and replaced). Between this and the Saints being akin to a monastic order of knights (with washouts like Cassius and aspirants serving as cannon fodder), my money is on something happening thirty or forty years before the series and decimating the Saints, leaving most survivors crippled and capable only to train a new generation of Gold Saints and a small number of Silver and Bronze Saints that then trained the rest

With Saints and Sailor Senshi being distaff counterparts of each other, natch.
* Toei's anime version of Sailor Moon ''actually'' stolen a LOT of things from Saint Seiya...being the most classic the "Venus love me chain" attack from Sailor Venus, which was an exact replica of Shun's "Nebula chain" attack (at least in the manga Sailor Venus "chain" is actually a waist chain...not a "magically created and infinite large" one)

[[WMG:Seiya and everyone else (including those in spinoff titles like Anime/SaintSeiyaOmega) are older than you think.]]
They claim to be 13-18 years old. However, I seriously doubt that was the case. They can be physically in their twenties. Excepting that in SaintSeiya-verse, age counting is handled ''differently''. It could be that one person's age in that verse increases after MORE than 365 days (standard age increasing measurement). Therefore, Seiya and the rest could be around the twenties by default, but by the measurements of the SS-verse, they're just 13-18 years old.
