In the ''Double Dragon'' setting, a [[{{WorldWarIII}} nuclear war]] resulted in the TheApunkalypse. There are hints though that Kunio-kun and ''Double Dragon'' share timeline; except there is no Nuclear War in the Kunio-verse. ''River City Ransom Underground'' is a rare exception.
* While River City always had a gang problem, Merv taking control and assuming a {{Police State}} did keep things in relative order with some of the trappings of civilization intact. (Like High School)
