Unlike the original film but similar to the 2000 musical Geppetto, Pinocchio goes to school and he gets into trouble causing him to be kicked out. He obviously fears telling his father Geppetto the truth and he suffers misadventures along the way including being a star attraction for Stromboli, going to Pleasure Island and saving Geppetto from Monstro. And by the end of the film Pinocchio becomes clear to Geppetto to everything he did. And it is his bravery to tell the truth as well as saving Geppetto which was both brave and selfless that finally makes him a real boy.

The film will very likely have a bittersweet ending in contrast to the 1940 film. While Jiminy in the original film got a medal as an reward for his efforts, it is likely Jiminy and Pinocchio will go their own ways like Woody and Buzz in Toy Story 4. Jiminy after seeing Pinocchio finally become a real boy knows the latter won’t need him anymore and that his job is done, particularly as it was confirmed he was only to be Pinocchio’s temporarily conscience till Pinocchio became human. However it is also likely he will fly away with Sofia the seagull another original character to the film having befriended her in search of others who may need a conscience as a new job.

It is likely that the Coachman will not make it out alive in the Remake and he will suffer the same fate of dying as the Disney villains.

In contrast to the 1940 film, Pleasure Island won’t be an illegal amusement park. Unlike the original Disney film the children won’t be offered free alcohol and tobacco, though they will be offered free food, refreshments, rides and games. Plus there won’t be places open for vandalism either, making it more closer to The Land of Toys. However the kids will eventually reveal their true nature by misbehaving and destroying the place causing them to become donkeys.

In the original animated movie he never gives an explanation or logic as to why there are anthropomorphic animals and normal animals in Pinocchio's world. At no time is a character wondering or questioning, because [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight there is a cricket, a fox, and a cat that talk, walk on two legs, and wear clothes like humans]]. In the remake, it may be explained that the existence of talking animals is due to MagicRealism and UnusuallyUninterestingSight. So it's likely that in the Pinocchio remake, Honest John and Gideon will do a HeelFaceTurn and help Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket rescue the children kidnapped by the Pleasure Island Coachman. Even Honest John and Gideon find a way to get the children back to normal and stop being donkeys and return to being human and Honest John and Gideon get the kidnapped children back safely to their parents.
