Teddie was born as a normal human some time some time after whenever TVs were invented (1930s?). As a child, he found out that he could enter the Midnight Channel and became fascinated by it. He ended up meeting his Shadow, but instead of rejecting it, he thought of it more as an imaginary friend. When he had free time, he would sneak into the Midnight Channel to play with Shadow!Teddie and then return home before his parents got suspicious. Eventually, he came to the decision to stay in the Midnight Channel forever. The reasons for this may vary; maybe he grew up in an abusive (or at least neglectful) household. Maybe he was scared of growing up. Maybe there was a life-changing event that he was unable to cope with. Or maybe he just thought his life was boring. Either way, he fled to the Midnight Channel for good.

WMG: Nanako had a Shadow, but already faced it and awakened to a Persona before the Investigation Team arrived
Nanako is believed to have not had a Shadow, since the Investigation Team never saw a Shadow manifest when she was in the TV world. But even so, she is noted to be particularly mature for her age and to have incredible mental fortitude. She seems mature enough and to have enough inner struggle due to having to grow up considerably faster than normal, which would be enough for her to have had a Shadow despite her young age. But notably, by the time she is first thrown into the TV world, she had already forged bonds with Yu and the rest of the Investigation Team, and managed to overcome her own struggles because of it. There is dialogue that can be heard in the Heaven dungeon from Nanako's voice, where she notes that she misses her mother, and that her father is never with her, but that she's not alone because even if Dojima isn't a great dad, she still loves him, and she has Yu and friends as her new friends, so she can carry on. This would imply that she faced a Shadow, but instead of denying it, she acknowledged it and that she has the strength to carry through thanks to her friends. She had an easier time with this thanks to her friendships and her incredible mental fortitude. This may also explain why she fell sick afterward: normally when one awakens to a Persona in the TV world, they end up incredibly exhausted afterward, but Nanako's physical body not only exhausted itself but was barely able to handle the immense amount of power she gained from awakening at such a young age.

Nanako having the Persona ability would also explain the otherwise illogical situation of her coming back to life after dying and being dead for a fairly long time. Normally, a human's brain would cease to function within minutes of one's heart and lungs failing, but Nanako having superhuman physical and mental capabilities thanks to having a Persona would explain how she could defy physical death, especially since she notes that she heard everyone's voice telling her to "hang in there", giving her the strength to carry through: as a Persona and one's control over it is strengthened by bonds, this may have been channeled into Nanako's potential Persona and through it, she managed to bring herself fully back to life, restarting her own heart and lungs and bringing her own physical body to life in doing so. Nanako also has a notable change in demeanor after she makes a full recovery: before being thrown into the TV, it is quite clear that she is putting on a facade of being happy, but is a depressed, lonely girl underneath, but after her recovery, she appears to be genuinely much more lively and bright, being genuinely cheerful and happy with life, which would align with those who have become Persona users and faced their own struggles.

She seems to also be capable of being safe and fully conscious in Shadow World-esque places after her recovery, seeing as how in Dancing All Night, when Mikuratana-no-Kami absorbed everyone into its consciousness, all of them ceasing to exist, most of the Persona users manage to remain conscious and avoid being absorbed, and Nanako also remains conscious and is fully aware of what happens. While of dubious canonicity, Nanako can also act as a commentator in the Arena games, in which all matches obviously take place in the world of human consciousness. The anime canon also aligns with this, seeing as how there are implications she is subtly communicating to Yu to stop him from throwing Namatame into the TV, and later, she believes she saw the Investigation Team take down Ameno-sagiri in a dream. All of this would align with her having the Persona ability, but not yet being fully capable of harnessing it until she is older and more physically capable of using such a power.

WMG: A future Persona 4 spinoff or mod will have Shadow Yu as the final boss.
Or rather a bad ending final boss which requires you to go out of your way to be a prick to everyone and avoid all social links. After the requirements are fulfilled, your party members leave you and you unlock a new dungeon. This dungeon is rather tough and you have to go it alone, but once you make it to the end, you get to see your party again. And also your Shadow.

After the cutscene, Yu is out for the count and you have to decide which party members to take into battle before the fight actually starts. The fight is immensely tough, with Shadow Yu's attacks being all Almighty attribute in addition to having Heat Riser and Debilitate.

He even has a special reversed variant of I'll Face Myself (Battle) called Flesym Ecaflli playing during the fight. After the fight, Yu denies his shadow like Mitsuo did and eventually it's implied that the real killer (Adachi) was able to erase all evidence of his crimes, the Investigation Team break up due to Yu's jackassery and he leaves with nobody to see him off.

Names The Same is no longer a trope

There will be another crossover with Capcom, like Nocturne, except that it will involve another addition to the story, not a side quest to get a new party member/Persona (Although getting Sparda as a Persona would be cool). Now, it can work as one of two ways, either a short television appearance/reference to their Japanese names, or a full blown unlockable minigame where you have to get involve, getting either MC/Narukami/Seta or Miles Edgeworth to convict Mitsuo or Adachi, or even get Phoenix to defend Nametame or the MC from murder charges. Oh, come on, wouldn't it be awesome to have either Phoenix or Miles fighting Shadows with either Maya (Fey) or Pearl as support? Also, Yosuke and Naoki could get closure by speaking to Saki.

Okay, this is a stretch, but let's go for it. It IS Wild Mass Guessing, after all. Also, lots of spoilers for the end of P3 and some things in P4. If you have not finished either game or cheated and watched it on Youtube, you have been warned.
* Ryoji Teddie, meanwhile, If one assumes that Ryoji's own personality wasn't actually assimilated-- which seems to be the case, considering he talks to the cast in P3 one last time after the final battle-- but that as he wasn't allowed to keep it, it could have easily been expelled to be it's own little doo-dad, which in turn, becomes Teddie.
* Their personalities are actually quite similar. The flirting, the cheerful perkyness, the general sweetness, To be honest, the biggest difference is Teddie end up much less fatalistic. One could take it as after the final battle and the fact that the P3 scooby gang managed to win an "impossible" battle, the remnants of Ryoji's persona got new hope for fighting fate. Well, that and Teddie's jokes are made of derp.

In other words, Inaba's local delivery company only uses one delivery man and therefore only needs one truck.

** There's one hole in this theory: Teddie pretty much implies that he has been in the other world since the beginning of it's existence.(When talking about that world during your first meeting with him, he says "it's always been like this" and when the true form of the other world appears after 's defeat, he says "A long time ago, this world used to look like this.") Since the other world reflects the collective minds of humanity, one would presume that it has existed for a long time...certainly longer than the Main Character has been alive. After all, humanity has been around for a long time. If that were the case, then it would be impossible for Teddie to be the Main Character's shadow, since he predates the Main Character.

There has been precedence: from Persona 3 FES. The Main Character perhaps wished that he were more grown up, making his own arrangements to remain in Japan rather than let his parents take him wherever they were going. The initiative and responsibility required that he deny his childishness as a thing of the past.

Think about it. The entire thing, even 's very existence, and the MC being in Inaba at all... EVERYTHING happened because Teddie willed it so. The Shadows say "I am a Shadow, THE TRUE SELF" and turn into huge monsters when their host denies them. However, accepting their statement of "THE TRUE SELF" would imply the person in question believes that only THEIR WORSE INSECURITIES AND TRAITS are the "real" self. My theory hinges on two main factors: had more reason to be Hope than the MC, and that the murder of could only have been commited by someone who had entered the TV. To explain the latter, you must take one thing into consideration: lacked the physical strength to club, drag and hang . He might have had enough power to throw into the TV, presumably with some amount of existing force, but definetely not homicide of this degree. threw the victim into the television set, then fled using his powers.

One will most likely be asking who fills what position. Clearly, was despair. was emptiness, judging by . fits best as hope; even though he, in his words, was "bored shitless", he states directly after that he was "wondering what to do". wanted something to do, still possessed hope for his time in Inaba. So where does this leave the MC?

By the time he arrived in Inaba, none of 's puppets had attempted to use their powers. Rather, they remained completely unaware. starts to become frustrated and hands some powers to the MC, who in turn is noticed by Philemon/Igor and is granted the Wild Card. then learns he has powers and starts putting them to good use.
* [[spoiler: Mitsuo really did kill Moroka without using the TV despite how odd it seems that he could physically pull it off. But it's confirmed when confronting Adachi later on. Mitsuo had no power, he killed Moron the old fashioned way and Adachi threw him into the TV to keep the game going on. Mitsuo wasn't approached by Izanami at all. Which makes sense, as she only gave the power to newcomers of Inaba while Mitsuo apparantly lived there quite a while.]]

He might have had enough power to throw Morooka into the TV, presumably with some amount of existing force, but definetely not homicide of this degree. Mitsuo threw the victim into the television set, then fled using his powers.

One will most likely be asking who fills what position. Clearly, Namatame was despair. Mitsuo was emptiness, judging by . dungeon. Adachi fits best as hope; even though he, in his words, was "bored shitless", he states directly after that he was "wondering what to do". Adachi wanted something to do, still possessed hope for his time in Inaba. So where does this leave the MC?

By the time he arrived in Inaba, none of 's Izanami's puppets had attempted to use their powers. Rather, they remained completely unaware. Izanami starts to become frustrated and hands some powers to the MC, who in turn is noticed by Philemon/Igor and is granted the Wild Card. Adachi then learns he has powers and starts putting them to good use.

* Note that Pandora never actually hands over the Core of DEVA, instead manipulating it herself for her own means. 'Ideal Maki' also expresses affection for the protagonist, who loved(?) her despite her flaws. This accounts for the correlation between SMT and the Izanami-Izanagi deal. Instead of returning the world to normal, the DEVA system actually splits off the world of SMT into several distinct (and some preposterous) timelines, which loop on themselves and each other, splitting off and returning. This accounts for all possible choices, results, and endings the game can have. The reincarnating goddess is Maki's Shadow, and Izanami and Nyx are her avatars created by mental states. Every possible idea she could conceive is made real (like Dancing all Night, for example). The world is literally her plaything, and the protagonists are the keys to playing in it. All of the story modes of Persona 4 Arena actually happened, albeit in different ways.

** And now for the Blazblue connection. What, exactly, has this LouisCypher wannabe Hazama being been doing? The reason it changes is he changes the music to fit the mood. WMG: will return as a minor antagonist in Persona 5.
He's the only villain that you don't fight directly at some point, and we don't know what happened to him beyond the fact that he was . If he appears at all, I bet he's either going to be a Social Link (unlikely, given how unrepentant he is) or a member of the QuirkyMinibossSquad.

* sorry to bust this theory, but Nyx doesn't want to end humanity. Playing P3: FES on The Answer storyline reveals it is Erebus, a being formed of humanity's despair and suicidal urges, is calling Nyx to Earth. Minato's sacrifice was basically using himself as a barrier between Nyx and Erebus. The P3 party members learn that they COULD save Minato, but that would just restart The Fall as Erebus still exists. Elizabeth(and/or Theodore, didn't play the PSP version) left the Velvet Room so that they could figure out a way to save Minato WITHOUT causing the end of humanity.

Blink and you'll miss it. At the beginning of Mitsuo's boss battle, his Shadow says "I am a Shadow. Come.. I'll end your emptyness." HOWEVER -- he never says "[I am] the true self"! It seems very strange that this was left out, particularly considering that Mitsuo is the final boss. Perhaps, , Mitsuo's ego was not developed enough for him to create an actual Shadow. The Shadow that appears to him was probably created by to make the Inaba Scoobies more convinced of his guilt. Hey, he did make a Shadow for after all..

WMG: Teddie was created by Igor
Like Morgana, Teddie was created to guide the protagonist and his teammates, but he lost his memory of his creation, as seems to be the norm. Izanami tried to stop Igor's plan by having Ameno-Sagiri hijack Shadow Teddie to keep Teddie from unlocking the powers granted to him by Igor. Teddie is clearly connected to the Velvet Room, appearing their after giving in to despair when . After Shinjiro ended up dead and Minato effectively died by going into an indefinite sleep, Igor saw how much the power of evildoers was escalating and enacted a contingency plan of sorts: Create animal-like constructs, symbols of hope and perserverance who can wield Personas to aid future teams of persona users so that none of them have to die anymore.

[[WMG: Hear me out.. Persona 4 was the doing of The Lonely.]]
A major theme of Persona 4 is the fog. Given The Lonely is represented with fog in TMA, it's entirely possible that Izanami is a front for the eldritch fear god. Also.. given Teddie represents a desire to be accepted.. isn't that the opposite of being isolated?
