In [[spoiler:Other M we learn that several creatures were cloned using DNA from Samus's suit. Phantoon was among these creatures. [[WMG: The space pirates reverse-engineered Mother Brain from an Aurora Unit]]
I mean, come on, they're waaay too similar to be a coincidence.
* Jossed by the manga. Mother Brain has been on Zebes for a long time before the pirates took over.
* Since it looks like Mother Brain was grown by the Chozo, the better explanation is that the Aurora Units are reverse-engineered from or at least inspired by Mother Brain.
** Also see the preview video "Aurora Unit" (Wii Preview Channel). The blueprint marked "Future Aurora Complex A242" is a one-for-one copy of Mother Brain's room in Tourian.

[[WMG:Sylux is an evil clone of Samus, which will be pivotal to Metroid: Other M]]
Sylux is a clone of Samus, those GF guys did it. Samus is not aware of this, but continues to encounter her clone across her adventures, which the game dealing with her previous missions and how Sylux affected them. Finally her clone become a dangerous murderer and Samus must get to the bottom of it.

Supported by: The title, "Other M" implies there's another of something. We know Sylux is due a return but we don't know anything about him/her/it and we Don't know what Sylux's motives are. The scene at the end of the trailer appear to me as someone cloning Samus as pausing it on that computer screen shows "Living Body Arms Development" or something, and this new Samus responds with "I'm Samus Aran." Perhaps we get to play as Sylux but I really doubt it. This is a very outlandish theory but is possible, right?
* If it were about another Samus, wouldn't it make sense to call it "Other S"? Especially since even if the M means Metroid (and any fanboy worth his salt will tell you Samus =/= Metroid in any sense), until Fusion where she got the DNA of one, after this game is set to take place, Samus is in no way related to Metroids except in a spiritual sense that they were both engineered by the Chozo to protect the galaxy. Yes, the girl at the end of the trailer is blond. I highly doubt Samus is the only blond in her universe, especially when you consider Team Ninja are at the helm for this one.
** "Other M" could mean "Other Metroid" but be using "metroid" not as the name of an organism, but as the Chozo word for "Ultimate Warrior." This could simply mean someone with comparable skill and power to Samus, and the story would focus on that "Other M" from the point of view of Samus.
* Jossed. The director has already said the girl at the end is not Samus, is not another Samus, and is not related to Samus. As for that controversial ending scene, it's just Samus, herself, in her suit, introducing herself to the other girl. A girl she's been shown in the same frame with many times before that point. You can't see her mouth through her visor, but it has the same mic-filtered tone you hear when she speaks in other parts of the trailer. And putting aside my fanboy rage for a minute, don't you think the "evil Samus clone" thing has been done to death at this point? The Prime games had Dark Samus, Fusion has ''ten'' SA-X clones...I don't think they're scraping the bottom of the idea barrel that hard just yet.
** I find it weird how Samus' lips don't seem to move when you hear "I'm Samus Aran." Perhaps the new girl is Samus/Adam's daughter?
** And there's also the fact that you can see how they're drawing Samus as an adult, albeit briefly, in the scene after the intro with teenage Samus where she puts on her suit. Her hair is far more golden blond than the other girl's lighter blond hair, and she generally looks nothing like her.

[[WMG: The male officer in the ''Metroid: Other M'' trailer is Adam Malkovich from the ''Fusion'' backstory]]
Based entirely on his use of the catchphrase "Any objections, lady?"
* He also resembles Adam as seen in the Japanese manga series.
** Confirmed by WordOfGod. See here: http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3174587

[[WMG: The "Other M" is MAJORA]]
* Majora is basically the most evil and purely destructive force in the entire Nintendo Multiverse. The Majora entity for the first time leaves it's native Zelda verse and threatens Samus.
** Somehow, this caught my attention by how simply [[CrazyAwesome CRAZY AWESOME]] it is.
** At some point Samus has to ColonyDrop something onto the moon (or moons) that Majora is [[ColonyDrop colony dropping.]]
** And at some point in the game it will be revealed that Samus is secretly Princess Zelda.

[[WMG: Sylux is the original Adam Malkovich]]
He was driven insane by the amount of corruption (no pun intended) in the Galactic Federation and set out to destroy it.
* Prime: Hunters takes place about 4 games before when Other M is set. Barring a flashback, Adam is still in the Federation. If it is a flashback, then it's to Samus's Federation days, and possibly Adam's death. In addition, it is mentioned that Sylux hates Samus simply by association with the GF, suggesting that Sylux doesn't know her personally, in direct conflict with the trust that Samus and Adam shared. And while Adam's homeworld is currently unknown (to us), Sylux is stated to be from Cylosis.

[[WMG: The Mysterious Black Dude will be an important character in Metroid: Other M.]]
Because there has to be a reason why they had him saying "Remember Me" in such a noticeable way in the Teaser.
[[WMG: The Mysterious Black Dude is [[AscendedMeme Justin Bailey]] ]].
Well that password needs to come from somewhere.

[[WMG: The Mysterious Black Dude will be a inconsequential bit player in Metroid: Other M.]]
Because there doesn't have to be a reason why they had him saying "Remember Me" in such a noticeable way in the Teaser.
* Or, playing on this and above, it will be a plot point that Samus (and the player) have no clue who this guy is or why he seems to think he's more than a side character.
* Going on this, he will appear exactly twice, saying "Remember Me?" the second time.

[[WMG: The Mysterious Black Dude is Sylux]]
Following getting his ass handed back to him in the Alembic Cluster, he decided to infiltrate the Federation just to get close to stabbing Samus in the back. "Remember me?" is just him taunting Samus.

[[WMG: The other blonde woman in the Other M trailer is Sylux]]
She will be a "very important character" and there's a bunch of speculation about Sylux being female, so it's quite possible.
* I agree. I mean, nobody knows anything about Sylux, and if she takes off her armor, puts on a lab coat, and gets some fake id, nobody would recognize her.

[[WMG: ''Chozo did not make Metroids'']]

* Metroids were a naturally occuring species on [=SR388=] and a natural predator of X Parasites. Chozo genetically engineered Metroids in the way human beings genetically engineered pigs, dogs and apple trees. They simply bred them to be more agressive, dangerous and able to survive in a wider variety of climates. Presumably they were only a limited hinderance to the shape shifting X beforehand, similar to how the Crown of Thorns Sea Star and most jelly fish have enemies but none are a serious threat to the population. Gene thereapy may have been used to speed up the process and the X, unable to adapt fast enough, were almost wiped out until Samus showed up.
** The ''Super Metroid'' manual explicitly states that Metroids were "created." The [[GeneticEngineeringIsTheNewNuke genetic engineering]] explanation was not made until recently. The Manga implies the X are running rampant ''because'' they have no predators and the Chozo had to make them.

** It makes more sense for her to have been a [[Pettanko]] while she was still a teen and suspected of as male for the simple fact that she was flat and more muscular than anything. Plus, the way the series is pretty far set apart. By the end of the game series so far, she has to be pushing late 20s to mid 30s. What you should really bring up is that she disappeared for a few years before her first mission after serving with GF. Meaning, she knew Malkovich when she was 14. [[Squick Ship that.]]

[[WMG: Nintendo will go SureWhyNot on the Mysterious Black Dude]]
Because, if he doesn't already have a significant plot role, he might get it by now if the game developers realize the meme he created and try to please his fans. I mean, just finding out who the hell that guy is reason enough for some people to be buying Other M.

[[WMG: Other M will involve TimeTravel]]
...and will create an AlternateContinuity. Nintendo seems to have no interrest to continue after Metroid Fusion, since there are no Metroids left. The timeline is getting a bit squeezed with all these game taking place BEFORE Metroid 2, its best to create a timeline where Metroid Fusion never took place. The events of Return of Samus directly lead to the events of Metroid Fusion (no more Metroids=X Parasite), so its best to rewrite to timeline.

[[WMG: the Myserious Black Dude is one of Samus's biggest fans]]
* he asks "remember me?" because Samus DOESN'T. She's NEVER met the guy before. He's just some bloke with a gun and ideas above his station that he can get Samus to remember him as a kickass mofo. He wants to do all sorts of mad shit that will make Samus "remember him".

[[WMG: MBD is Armstrong Houston {{Retool}}ed]]
Remember Houston from the Nintendo Power Super Metroid comic? most people do. In this case, Nintendo decided to get themselves another Canon Immigrant, with a slight retool. Now he's a black guy asking Samus if she remembers him, possibly from a past assignment. Consider that both Houston and MBD's armour are both blue...
* His name has recently been revealed to be Anthony Higgs. Same initials.

[[WMG: MBD is Mace Windu]]

The Boss Battle against him will showcase Samus's new laser sword powerup.
* And in this universe, he took the name Narpa.

[[WMG: Gandrayda is MBD in disguise.]]
The Mysterious Black Dude's name is Justin Bailey and Gandrayda uses this form to bring back memories from a previous relationship with Samus, which is why the code puts Samus in skimpy clothing. Sylux is also a form of Gandrayda because why not?
* MBD already has a name: Anthony Higgs. He's confirmed as one of Adam's soldiers, and Samus knows him from her days in the Galactic Federation.

[[WMG: In Metroid V, computer!Adam will get an android body.]]
As of Other M, the existence of androids is canon. Given how many ships Samus has gotten blown up or otherwise damaged/destroyed, she might look into some way to get Adam out of the gunship's computer so she doesn't lose him for a second time.

[[WMG: The Baby Metroid in Super was about to become a queen]]
In Other M it says that the Queen fought in the ending was "unaltered" and that only certain Metroids can become Queens.

Which is kinda interesting considering what happens in fusion (I'm thinking the above WMG regarding Samus' sterility could be jossed...)

[[WMG: The Chozo all suffered from a highly communicable Doom virus]]
That is to say, a virus that causes anyone infected by it to be completely and utterly doomed, which is why they're all either dead, MIA, or disembodied, and their friends the Luminoth, Bryyoans, and those robots they left at Elysium aren't much better. They gave Samus enough of vaccine to keep her alive, but she still spreads the virus, which is what happened to her squad from her early Federation days, Adam, The Infant Metroid...

[[WMG: In Metroid V Samus will lose her upgrades due to a virus]]
I mean this or the Other M method are the likely choices because the fusion suit is more biological compared to the power suit and going with the above theory she also use the life drain to get her powers back.

* It's assumed that the only solid food Metroids eat is X-parasites because they've never been raised to adulthood in captivity before Fusion. They can eat phazon, but the cycle goes hunter-hopper-hatcher-prime, with new powers passed onto their offspring.

[[WMG: Samus is doing a SelfImposedChallengeRun for Other M]]
Even in the beginning Samus is equipped with '''far''' less than her usual arsenal, maybe she just wants to give herself more of a challenge? when Adam shows up she decides that she will put the decision on him because she can't trust herself not to get pissed and equip everything and break her run?

[[WMG: Adam is being GenreBlind on purpose]]
Adam and Samus obviously parted on less than the best of terms, maybe when he sends her with less than ideal equipment it's to make sure she doesn't feel like she can get away with everything anymore (which isn't to say he's trying to hurt Samus, he knows she can handle it, and, in sector 3 for example, when it gets too much for her to handle, he relents for her safety.)

[[WMG: All the "infesting" villians are the same thing]]
Presumably, there is an EldritchAbomination that seeks to corrupt the entire universe. It's first attempt was Gorea, but it was sealed away. It's second attempt was the X parasites, but the Chozo made Metroids to stop them. It's third known attempt was the planet Phaaze and the leviathans. It's final attempt was the Kriken Empire. It was probably responsible for killing off Spire's species.

[[WMG: Sylux and Samus will team up]]

[[WMG: Ridley is not a Space Dragon, he is a Space ''Phoenix'']]
While Ridley is known to have a healing factor, it is not good enough to save him from complete destruction, often via bodily explosion (ie: bursting into flame.) But, it is now known that Ridley has several developmental stages, which mature at a ridiculously fast rate, apparently tied to flesh consumption just like his healing. If Ridley is in fact able to rise from ashes, taking the form of a harmless creature that nontheless can tear a human to pieces would be a perfect way to escape, especially since it seems to retain his intelligence. This would allow Ridley to live indefinitely, being reborn whenever killed, and possibly allowing him to gain new abilities (like the cloaking he does in Super Metroid) or become stronger, depending on how he chooses to have his immature forms develope. While he isn't exactly on fire constantly, his fire/plasma breath could be a result of his nature.

** The impression I had was that the Chozo were in a long period of decline. The Zebesian Chozo were sort of like late Qing China or the pre-WWI Ottoman Empire—still prominent, but their heyday was clearly past. That decline might even have been the impetus for the Tallon IV colony, as an attempt to get back to their roots and reinvigorate their society. Certainly, the Bryyonian civil war seems to have happened a very long time ago, and the Chozo were depicted as still very much at their height during that time. So all the precursor stuff would have come and gone by the time the remnant rescued Samus.
