Why else would the new Heroes be able to pick up an obsolete sport so quickly? Deacon is likely the son of one of the original team and was taught by his father how to play and he, in turn, passed on how to play to Slice, Silver, Trips, and Patrice, which is why they're better than the other prison teams.
