And as for the lack of explanation, I understand why they wouldn’t have explained what was going on with the comic if this was the case. After all, who wants to admit that they’re stuck?

I thought of this possibility when trying to start writing a potential series of events that could have happened next (*cough* shameless self-promotion *cough*), and I honestly… didn’t know what should happen. I didn’t know how long the conflict with [[spoiler: Ples]] should drag on for, I didn’t know exactly what should happen… maybe that’s just me still being pretty new to the comic and it being a bit early to write Fanfiction for it, but… maybe that’s how Tess felt, too.

I don’t know why I thought of this, add I know it doesn’t make much sense at all.

Plus, it would make for some veeeeery unsettling scenes if a “lung” runs goes out… especially if the audience doesn’t know the “rune” thing yet, and it seems like poor Hanna is just unable to breathe for no reason. And, if he casts a spell powerful enough to short out the “heart” rune— especially in order to protect the others— it would actually make for quite a poignant sacrifice, doubly poignant if everyone knows and is begging him not to cast said spell, but it’s the only way to protect everyone. (Sigh) Shame we’ll never see this… at least there’s Fanfiction.

But it ''would'' explain why Hanna was so worried about {…} getting possessed, I suppose.

Maybe it's Zombie who's humanizing Hanna, not the other way around.

It's become a bit of a trend with her, and Hanna hasn't been properly updated since early August.

Guys, it's been a while, and she's pretty much disappeared off the face of the internet. Now I'm not saying she died or anything, but something must have happened... (I'm just gonna leave it vague and not speculate too far; I don't know if talking about the author is taboo in this fandom or not.)

It's pretty much assumed that she's abandoned the comic for whatever reason, but decided not to let anyone know by making an announcement (presumably because she doesn't want them to be angry with her.)

She's become some sort of religious fundamentalist and has renounced all the vampire and zombie stuff from her life and is currently on her way to being the next [[ComicBook/ChickTracts Jack Chick]]. The reason she still hasn't resurfaced is because she is currently learning all that she can from the master, and plans to take his place as lead artist and writer of the ''ComicBook/ChickTracts'' when he passes away.

Think about it. Sharp shark-like teeth. Woobie-ish. Both violent. Veser has glowy green eyes, which is sort of one of the effects of Spiral Power. So to make up for his horrible home life, Veser is reincarnated into being a total {{BadAss}} who can't have a family that'll mess him up. However, fate still screws with him and makes him a {{Woobie}}.

Note that he's saying to Conrad, "Need a hand?" Since that point, he's always worn gloves. Obviously, Conrad took him literally and gnawed them off, or perhaps only one but {...} doesn't want to do the MichaelJackson thing. Or, alternately, something is just generally wrong with {...}'s hands aside from his being green, as he wears gloves even [[http://hanna.aftertorque.com/?p=605 while chilling out indoors]]. One assumes that he [[TheInsomniac just doesn't sleep]], so probably sitting and reading in Hanna's room is like sleeping for him. Who wears gloves to bed?!

So, why does Hanna appear to be watching his friendship with Zombie and Conrad so carefully? A guess: for some reason or other, he's never felt friendship before; and he isn't feeling it (at least not much) now. But he's ''trying'' to; he's been trying for years. He values compassion more than anything - he sincerely does want to help everyone in his path, and is a ''great'' friend in everything except the emotional plane. But he longs to feel friendship, and in his striving for emotion he overdoes things. He makes such a big note of Zombie's and Conrad's actions because it's what he's been longing to do himself, and he's trying to figure it out from them.

Also, it makes old Dull-Surprise Literal-Deadpan Ellipsis-in-Brackets look emotionally healthy by comparison. Forget about Hanna humanizing Zombie, maybe Zombie's going to have to humanize Hanna.

So, why does Hanna appear to be watching his friendship with Zombie and Conrad so carefully? This explains his combination of sappiness and No Social Skills - and also why he's so nice to Doc Worthless, who's one of the few people he sees on a regular basis and with whom therefore he longs to be friends.

When he first shows up, {...} speculates that his memory loss is like "riding a bicycle", and that he might remember if there's something to remind him. Later, we get [[vert-is-ninja.deviantart.com/art/Cheers-To-Something-New-147053058?offset=100# comments this pre-death picture of him]], with WordOfGod saying that it's kept in someone's wallet, so they "remember someone really important to them". At some point in the future, {...} will run into that person, see that picture, and remember everything.
