WMG: Doug and Pepper Ann are endgame
Both want desperately to be cool and accepted, are socially awkward, have crushes on popular blonds who may or may not reciprocate, are prone to severe anxiety over minor problems, and have extremely elaborate fantasy sequences. On some level, they are only two people who could tolerate someone like them for that long. (They may or may not have met in the waiting room for therapy) (Also, they may or may not still be lusting after Patti and Craig respectively)

** They don't directly state it in the episode, but the fact that Patti has a picture of both her parents and her in her music box hints that it was the last time Patti saw her. Plus it starts raining in the flashback, possibly implying that the car crash was due to the rain.

He just used the excuse of writing a letter for his sister when Doug realized what was going on and blurtied out his crush on Patti to Fentruck. Unlike Doug, Fentruck actually has some social skills and the ability to tell people what they want to hear. After Doug wrote the letter, Fentruck made the adjustments to it and wrote a love letter to Patti. Needless to say, after all of that it didn't work and Fentruck was rejected by Patti.

BOTH mom and dad look like Roger and his mom lived in a trailer park. His parents met at a family reunion and had a forbidden romance.

[[WMG: Doug is set in the same world as

Both Doug and Equestria Girls are cases of Technicolor population and to a lesser extent of Technicolor hair, some of the characters have names that you usually wouldn't find in real life like with most characters even the ones that don't have Equestrian counterparts and as stated in the WMG above Doug is most likely set in the mid to late 90's where as Equestria Girls is obviously set in the 2010's so that means Doug takes place prior to Equestrian magic becoming common place in the human world thus is why there is no reference to magic in it and there is also a background student in Canterlot high that resembles Connie Benge so that means that she could be a relative of Connie and since we don't know anything about her family nor her future she could be her neice, distant cousin or even daughter we also seen a Connie Benge looking background character in this could also explain why we didn't see Sunset Shimmer's human counterpart nor did we ever know Cozy Glow's backstory is since it's possible that where Cozy Glow lived prior to her coming to the school of friendship was the Equestrian counterpart of Bluffington or Bloatsburg and saying that that's were Cozy Glow was from would result in a copyright strike from Disney at best same with revealing Sunset Shimmer's human counterpart is from Bluffington or Bloatsburg those last 2 may have seemed like a stretch though.

* This would help explain some of the more bizarre solutions to his problems. Rather than admit that things went badly, he instead comes up with strange coincidences that save the day. It would also explain why Roger's behavior fluctuates between episodes. He probably was a jerk to some degree, but Doug liked to blow it out of proportion.
