** Not elaborated upon in either ''Arachnid'' or ''Caterpillar'', but might be adressed in ''Blattodea'' where she already appears in chapter 1, which takes place some hours before the Arachnid Hunt.

** Characters like Megumi Oki and the Boss are explicity this, and on Oki's case she awakened her powers via a near-death situation as a child. In ''Choubu no Shinobi'', she even has an identical ancestor with the same powers.

And the Organization itself probes the world in search for them in order to hog all of their mutations to themselves into an unstoppable killing force, granting them monikers in accordance to the "insects" their genetic traits resemble the most. They have no idea about this themselves.

In ''Caterpillar'', Kabutomushi's Hercules Horn is already offhandedly mentioned to be related to the Alligator blade used by the protagonist in that story.

You see, Dinoponera are a genus of ants that do not have a traditional queen caste. Instead, the females fight each other until one rises as an alpha ant, termed "gamergate". If the alpha dies, she can be replaced. They also happen to be one of those kinds of insects where the male gets mutilated after copulation, with his genitalia getting stuck inside her as a temporary chastity belt. Therefore, knowing this series' "logic" of having the characters do whatever their namesake bugs do, it's likely [[spoiler:Dinoponera slaughtered the guys who raped her, resisted turning brainless and took over the Army Ant colony after Kuramoto got killed. This would explain how the zombies were able to destroy the country even though they seemed to become harmless when their queen died]].

One notable thing about dinoponera ants is how the workers fight amongst themselves for the alpha female position. If the current alpha happens to die, she is replaced by the next high-rank worker and the colony goes on. So, even if Dinoponera did [[spoiler:get raped and brainwashed by the student mob, she should be able to recover and take control over them now that Kuramoto has been killed. She'll probably be traumatized by the experience and act as a PostFinalBoss, though, and Alice will have to calm her down and convince her to turn the students back to normal]].
