** Detective Taira is TheRival to Ayami and a haughty {{Jerkass}}. Constantly deriding Ayami at every opportunity and treating her as incompetent simply for being a woman, Taira is [[EstablishingCharacterMoment introduced]] mocking Ayami for failing her mission, an event which had traumatized her due to [[spoiler:the death of her LoveInterest]]. When she gets demoted as a result, he takes her spot, and repeatedly antagonizes her whenever he finds her, treating her like a criminal. In the Arrested ending, [[spoiler:he gleefully arrests Ayami for killing Goto, gloating the whole time, while ignoring her protests that Goto [[AssholeVictim deserved to die]] for victimizing innocent girls]].

** Tokimassa, real name Shinji Umezawa, was the deranged leader of the second Kamenkai cult. Growing disillusioned with modern society and [[MisanthropeSupreme despising humanity]], he sought out people in hard times and brainwashed them into sharing his beliefs, them convinced them to flee with him to [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aokigahara Aokigahara]], the infamous Suicide Forest. From there he would continue to abuse everyone, especially a young [[spoiler:Reina]]. Eventually, he [[spoiler:orchestrated a ritual involving [[WouldHurtAChild cutting Reina]] to get her blood, then initiated a mass MurderSuicide, traumatizing Reina and splitting up the Kawana family, all so he could sacrifice them to the Mask and reach the realm of the gods while leaving humans to be killed by [[EldritchLocation the Dark]]]].

* TogetherInDeath: [[spoiler: A heartwarming example occurs in the "Alone Together", where Ayami decides to stay with Kazuki and face whatever's on the other side with him. A tearjerking one occurs in "Becoming", however, where Ayami uses Kazuki's soul as a sacrifice and absorbs him to become the mask-bearer.]]

* ChristmasCake: One of the first conversations that can be held with Officer Saki can have her reference this trope as a reason for her attraction to new officer Bando.

* FatBastard: Goto, the {{salaryman}} found at the Butterfly Bar in Shinjuku at the beginning, is an ugly leering middle-aged man who's fond of [[BondageIsBad bondage]] and is all but stated to be a pedophile who takes his victims to a sewer.
