Every game in ''Choices'' is a VisualNovel. Each game is divided into volumes known as "books" (and some games span multiple books), and each book is divided into chapters. One of ''Choices'' most defining aspects is the fact that it is a GenreRoulette at it's heart; although the gameplay remains pretty much the same, the story, setting and theme change entirely from story-to-story, allowing each game to tell something different.

The game itself is really just an interface from which you can access the stories. Two forms of in-app currency purchasable through {{Microtransactions}} (or even larger transactions if you're really invested) exist; these are Diamonds and Keys, and your balance for both are shared among all of the stories in the collection. Each story requires you to give up a Key to play a chapter, and in each story some special choices will require you to pay Diamonds to make them. Keys and Diamonds naturally refill on their own, but you cannot hold more than 2 keys or 15 diamonds obtained for free at once. You ''can'' play through a whole story without paying anything, but on top of having very little Diamonds with which to access special choices that offer lots of depth and backstory (some of which cost more than 15 and are therefore impossible to get for free anyway), you'll also only be able to play through at most 2 chapters at a time so you won't be able to blaze through a story quickly. This is a model containing traits of being both an AllgedlyFreeGame and a {{Freemium}}.

''Choices: Stories You Play'' is a collection of VisualNovel ChooseYourOwnAdventure games released by Pixelberry Studios for iOS and Android. Pixelberry also created the games ''VideoGame/HighSchoolStory'' and ''VideoGame/HollywoodURisingStars''. Additionally, the game shares some of the creators of ''VisualNovel/CauseOfDeath'' and ''VisualNovel/SurvivingHighSchool''. The game was released in Summer 2016 and is still releasing episodes to this day.

The game is really just an interface from which you can access the stories. Also, each story requires you to give up a Key to play a chapter (or reset the book), and in each story some special choices will require you to pay Diamonds. You can play through a whole story without paying anything, but you'll only be able to play two chapters at a time; it will take time for Diamonds and Keys to naturally refill on their own, and the amount of them you can have at once is limited (for instance, if you don't pay a penny and only get Keys through waiting, you'll never hold more than 2 keys at once). This is an example of {{Freemium}} games.

Every game in ''Choices'' is a VisualNovel. Some span multiple "books", and each book contains multiple chapters. One of ''Choices'' most defining aspects is the fact that it is a GenreRoulette at it's heart; although the gameplay remains pretty much the same, the storyline changes entirely from book-to-book.

Here is a list of all of the books in ''Choices''. The starting books are the first 3 ones listed.

* ''VisualNovel/TheFreshman'', which includes four books, two bonus books, and some character-central books you can only get via purchase. The story is ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: you're a freshman meeting all new people and you have to deal with the challenges of school life as you choose from multiple LoveInterests. ''The Freshman'' is a spiritual sequel to ''VisualNovel/SurvivingHighSchool''. ''The Sophomore'' (tropes listed under the page for The Freshman) was released later on and is in the same continuity.

* ''VisualNovel/MostWanted'', which currently only has one book but a second is supposedly in the works. The game is a contemporary murder mystery serial revolving around two cops pursuing a dangerous and notorious fugitive. ''Most Wanted'' is a spiritual sequel to ''VisualNovel/CauseOfDeath''.

* ''VisualNovel/TheCrownAndTheFlame'', which drops the realism of the previous two books and is set in a fantasy land. Your kingdom is under attack, and you must win it back.
