''Yoshi'' is a falling block puzzle game released for the UsefulNotes/NintendoEntertainmnetSystem in 1991 and developed by Creator/GameFreak.
In the game the player builds up for stacks of monsters that must be eliminated before they grow taller than the screen. This is done by either stacking up sets of identical monsters or by lining up the bottom and top halves of a Yoshi egg. If a top half falls onto a stack with a bottom half somewhere below, the halves come together and hatch into a Yoshi eliminating the entire column. The four columns are swapped horizontally back and forth by Mario at the bottom of the screen.
