''Tales of Graces'' is the twelfth mainline entry in the ''VideoGame/TalesSeries''. The game was released on December 10th, 2009 on the UsefulNotes/NintendoWii.

The game received an UpdatedReRelease on the UsefulNotes/PlayStation3, ''Tales of Graces f'', released December 2nd, 2010 in Japan, March 13th, 2012 in North America, and August 31st, 2012 in Europe. The game includes the usual array of upgrades like new skits, scenes, abilities and [[LimitBreak Mystic Artes]]. By far the biggest addition is an epilogue story called "Lineage and Legacies", which adds [[spoiler:Richard]] as a fully-playable character. The party also gains an Overlimit-like ability called "Accelerate Mode," which grants unique powers to each character and gives them access to a powerful FinishingMove.

Even taking into account the Little Queens, the fact Fodra has ''one'' small bit of nature left on the entire planet with living creatures that aren't, for all intents and purposes, zombies, and the fact the core is somewhat running, the planet has been torn asunder by war, then ground into a fine, orange, dusty paste by Lambda's monsters, and, as if the planet hadn't suffered enough, was purged of all humans by the Little Queen. Essentially, [[CrapSackWorld Fodra]] has been through ''three'' apocalypses; no wonder Cornell and Emeraude were willing to risk it all to save the planet.]]

* LighterAndSofter: Compared to most titles in the Tales series, it could possibly be the most family friendly game. It doesn't have much {{Fanservice}} (there's one BeachEpisode, but no HotSpringsEpisode) and carries an overall light hearted tone.
* LimitBreak: Called "Blast Caliber" in Japanese, and the standard "Mystic Arte" in English.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: If you kill the BonusBoss, [[spoiler:Lambda]] will become stronger.

* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:Asbel and Cheria after the end of the story.]]

* ThePowerOfFriendship: ''Seriously''... It's become something of a fandom joke that the "F" actually stands for "Friendship".
* PowerPerversionPotential:
** In a skit, Pascal has Sophie snap the strap on Cheria's bra with her powers.

* RememberTheNewGuy: Americans got an odd case of this. Normally, the cameo battles are of characters from previous games. While no different, the cameo characters came from Tales games Americans didn't get; so some were left perplexed when fighting them wondering who exactly they were and why were they so special.

* RocketPunch: Pascal suggests installing one of these on Sophie in a skit.
* RuleOfCool: Malik's boomerangs.

* ShoutOut: An entire page of these both to earlier Tales games and other Namco Bandai works could be dedicated to these, but for now:

** In the arena's upper lobby (where you sign up and run into a Turtlez merchant), you learn that something is [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda a secret to everyone.]]

** One of Sophie's weapons, a pair of claws, has the description, "They weren't stolen, mind you! They were... acquired." This may be a reference to [[VideoGame/PrinceOfPersia2008 Prince of Persia (2008)]], wherein the Prince more or less says the same thing about his clawed gauntlet.

* ShyFingerTwiddling: Pascal does this after [[spoiler: Hubert confesses his feelings for her.]]

* StrongEnemiesLowRewards: In the UsefulNotes/PlayStation3 re-release named ''Tales of Graces f'', it's possible to defeat the Rockgagong (a powerful late-game OptionalBoss) earlier than intended using a game-breaking setup for Hubert, but doing so will not net you any experience points whatsoever. In fact, back in the original UsefulNotes/NintendoWii version, it was possible to gain experience points from the Rockgagong ''repeatedly'' to overlevel your party members, which became so broken that [[ObviousRulePatch it was understandably patched out in the PS3 release]]. Subverted in that pulling the same trick on the [=PS3=] version will net you a [[BraggingRightsReward PlayStation Network Trophy]], but that's it.

* UptightLovesWild:
** Hubert and Pascal fit into this dynamic.
** In terms of friendship ([[YuriFan or]] [[LesYay more]]), Pascal and Cheria or Poisson fit this.

* SpiritualSuccessor: In an aesthetic sense. Artistically and musically, this game has much in common with ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' as opposed to other ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'' titles. The ''stories'', however, couldn't be more different if they tried. ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss'' is effectively about CloningBlues and free will while ''Graces''' plot is pretty much "[[ThePowerOfFriendship FRIENDSHIP IS AWESOME]]".

* CommissarCap: Cheria's [=BoA=] costume.

* AndThenWhat: Occurs right before the final boss fight in the main storyline. [[spoiler:BigBad Lambda is ranting about how humans are evil, and how he's going to KillEmAll. Asbel promptly turns this into an ArmorPiercingQuestion by asking "Okay, then what? If you kill every human, [[{{Deconstruction}} you'll be totally alone, and you and everything in the entire world will die a slow and painful death]]. Is that really what you want?" Lambda is silent for a {{beat}}, then throws a tantrum and begins the final boss battle proper. After the fight's over, Asbel shows Lambda another way by allowing Lambda to see the world through Asbel's eyes in an effort to convince him that HumansAreSpecial.]]

* BoomStick: Pascal's WeaponOfChoice.

* WolverineClaws: Bryce's WeaponOfChoice. Sophie can equip them as well.

* BalefulPolymorph: In ''Graces ƒ'', there's an NPC who gives Titles away that allow any playable character to transform into any of the other six, allowing for teams of four Sophies, Cherias, etc., provided you have created the Figures for each character (six of each doll so every character can get the title.) This is the main way of playing as [[spoiler:Richard]] outside ''Lineage and Legacies''. Apparently the developers thought of that too, and give you one of his doll for free in said arc's final dungeon.

** To get Sophie's Lv.3 Mystic Arte, you have to give a bunch of plushies to an IllGirl in Fendel. However, you have to Dualize three of them using "Cashable" ingredients, items that the game explicitly tells you that [[ShopFodder you can sell for a nice sum]].

* IllGirl: Cheria starts off as this but she rapidly recovers at the same time she receives her healing powers. You can also run across one in Fendel and you are rewarded by giving her plushies to keep her company.

** In Strahta, one NPC talks about monsters, and mentions a "Quickie". Pascal even says that one of those things would come in handy while using Artes. In ''VideoGame/TalesOfEternia'', Meredy's "weapons" are whistles, which are used to control Quickie, and later on Quickie can attack while she's casting.
** One of Hubert's first weapons has this description: "Short wooden swords used for practice. [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Two times the sword equals two times the power, right?]]"
** ''All'' new weapons in ''Lineage and Legacies'' are references to other VideoGame/TalesSeries games.
*** If you closely observe the Mythology Bearer, a weapon for Pascal which is only available in ''Lineage and Legacies'', you can see [[VideoGame/TalesOfTheWorld Kanonno Earhart]].
*** Not to mention that Richard's [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Symphonian Scepter]] has little Seraphim wings. Actually, a lot of the weapons have neat little visual gags. The [[VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia Brave Vesperia]] looks like Yuri's giant feather sword from the ending sequence (and it's named after his guild) and the [[VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia Phact Phantasia]] looks like a tree - more specifically the world tree. Then there's Cheria's Innocent Shiners, which not only reference ''VideoGame/TalesOfInnocence'', but also [[VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss Innocent Shine, Tear's Mystic Arte.]]
** An early skit in ''Lineage and Legacies'' has Asbel looking over prospective candidates for marriage. Two profiles he read are "[[VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss Anise Tatlin]]" and "[[VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny Nanaly Fletcher]]". He also butchers pronouncing their names.
** Six of the fiends in the Ghardia Shaft count as well. They're known as the [[VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny Destineon]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss Abysseon]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Symphonion]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfEternia Eterneon]], [[VideoGame/TalesOfRebirth Rebirtheon]] and [[VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia Vespereon]], all of them famous in a story of their respective namesakes.
** Outside the Knight Academy in Barona, there's a rather epic statue of the Academy's founder. It appears to be [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Kratos Aurion.]]
** One item found in the main quest bears the description: "made of [[VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss fomicry]]."
** In Gralesyde, if you bring an old woman sitting on a bench some beef and pork, she'll make you minced meat "filled with love." You can then dualize this meat with potatoes to make [[VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia croquettes.]] Eat them with care, okay?
** It's probably a coincidence, but whenever Pascal falls unconscious in battle, she says "the rest is...up to you!" with the ''exact same inflections'' that [[spoiler: Asch]] uses during his death scene in ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss''.
** The mission to Bathus Citadel is to retrieve a componant made of Derris Ore. A potential reference to [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Derris Kharlon]].

** Cheria is a KnifeNut that [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders throws knives, and can stop time]]. Heck, to drive the point home, [[https://youtu.be/LNTqoBY5hqQ?t=66 her Punishing Blossom]] is reminiscient of [[https://youtu.be/WsuKs9WgQD4?t=177 DIO using The World]].

Your husband isn't helping matters any due to him generally being emotionally constipated mixed with a short temper triggered by Asbel almost daily, so in short she's the OnlySaneMan. Then one day, you '''have to''' ship of one of your children to '''another country''' and explain it to his older brother, but before you can, said oldest runs off somewhere. You then get news that both of your sons were almost killed but can only see one of them since the other has already been sent away. Your child then decides to run away from home and disappears for seven years. Your husband then dies causing your sons to come back home. Only when they get back, they are at each others throats, the youngest son hates you and the oldest is exiled from the village. It's really surprising she didn't go into an AngstComa.

** There's a reason Asbel has the FanNickname "Spinsbel". He shares the dark brown hair, white clothing, chivalrous attitude and Creator/TakahiroSakurai's voice with Suzaku Kururugi of ''Anime/CodeGeass''.
