** One that is an ''actual'' bug, though, is that the game applies Bonus Points to character data regardless of if they are friend or foe at the moment. So, if you level up and modify [[MobileSuitVictoryGundam Chronicle]], [[{{Megazone23}} B.D]], [[GodMars Marg and Rose]][[note]]Rose only gets BP if you convince her properly; otherwise she becomes the fifth Cosmo Crusher pilot and won't gain any to begin with[[/note]], or [[{{Macross7}} Gabil]] at all, they'll have those modifications to their stats when you fight them on your next playthrough. The kicker is that the game gives different character portraits different stats, so this means ''Brainwashed'' Marg (enemy only) doesn't get the Bonuses, but [[MobileSuitVictoryGundam Katejina]] and Glacius (their portraits only change when they join) aren't affected.

* HoldingBackThePhlebotinum: If you choose to go to Jupiter to complete the ''Armageddon'' storyline, you get to play with Shin Dragon for a stage, but after that stage, they reveal that Shin Dragon's reactor is completely drained. You don't get it back until the late 30s, so you'll have to put the Shin Getter team in classic Getter or Black Getter.

Moving from YMMV.

Added DiffLines:

* GameBreakingBug: A primary reason why some certain gamers were ticked off about ''Destiny''. The armor coding is so bugged that it {{nerf}}s {{super robot}}s and their ability to tank. However, some players argue there is no bug present in the game: Units in ''Destiny'' simply have defensive stats on par with the Classic Timeline games, while weapon attack power is on the high end of the scale, comparable to the ''Original Generation'' titles. Since ''Destiny'' units lack the high armor rating to balance it out, overall damage is rendered higher. Accuracy and evasion rates for real-types are similarly high, as most real robot pilots have the "Focus" Spirit Command to give themselves a boost. At the same time, it's rare to see super robot pilots in ''Destiny'' to get the "Guard" Spirit Command to raise their defense (though they universally have ''some'' sort of defensive Spirit Command).
** This is why the under-3-meter tall Garland is less a FragileSpeedster and more a GlassCannon. A stiff breeze will probably kill it, but it can kill the stiff breeze - or get it to retreat - ''handily''.
*** Long story short, the game doesn't like the concept of [[{{LightningBruiser}} Lightning Bruisers]]. In the end, it can be circumvented with a change in tactics - treat your units as interceptors and bombers rather than infantry and unstoppable tanks on the first playthrough. And, because you'll have pre-modified afflicted characters' Defense stats for every following run, the 'bug' isn't as noticeable from the second playthrough onwards.
** One that is an ''actual'' bug, though, is that the game applies Bonus Points to character data regardless of if they are friend or foe at the moment. *** Luckily, the game properly transfers [[GetterRobo Hayato]] and [[{{Macross7}} Max's]] BP. (Hint: don't pump up ''just'' their Defense.)

Also important is ''SuperRobotWarsZ'' and its sequels feature a large portion of the roster from ''Destiny'': only ''Daltanious'', ''Megazone 23'', ''Victory Gundam'' and ''ZZ Gundam'' aren't present, with the original ''Mazinger'' trio being left in the first ''Z'' release. While only a coincidence, but WildMassGuessing presumes a remake of this game using the ''Z'' engine is entirely possible. With the announcement that the cast of ''Destiny'' is to be part of ''Original Generation'', the game has clearly not been forgotten and has returned in style.

''SuperRobotWars Destiny'' is the fourth installment of Banpresto's SuperRobotWars franchise on the GameBoyAdvance, preceded by ''[[SuperRobotWarsAdvance Advance]]'', ''[[SuperRobotWarsReversal Reversal]]'' and ''[[SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration Original Generation]]''. The series featured in Destiny is noted to be unique towards fans at the time (other than ''SuperRobotWarsJudgment'' and ''SuperRobotWarsK'', as both involve the removal of traditional series), as uncommonly used series appear in the main plot, such as ''{{Megazone23}}'' and ''Anime/TheBigO''.

And now that Destiny is announced to be part of ''SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'', the game has not been forgotten and has returned in style.

Destiny takes place in a [[AfterTheEnd post-apocalyptic world]], prominently after the beginning of [[GetterRobo Getter Robo Armageddon]], where [[NukeEm a nuclear explosion wipes out the majority of humanity]]. While other factions are doing their own activities, they are shocked to discover the Earth is sealed, having disappeared from the face of the universe. The heroes must find out the reason behind the sealing and how to stop it. On the course of the journey, the player will engage against the antagonistic [[OriginalGeneration Ruina]], a destructive race bent on seeing the rest of the universe in ruins.

Like prior games, Destiny gives players the choice of two protagonists: ''Joshua Radcliff'' or ''Cliana Rimskaya'', with a selection of two [[OriginalGeneration original]] [[RealRobot real]] or {{super robot}}s. However, depending on who is the primary protagonist out of the two, it ultimately affects which SecretCharacter is recruitable for the player.

Also, [[SuperRobotWarsZ Z and Z2]] feature a large portion of D's roster- only Daltanious, {{Megazone23}}, Victory and ZZ Gundam aren't present, with the original Mazinger trio being left in the first. It's possibly only coincidence, but [[WildMassGuessing a remake of this game using Z2's engine is extremely possible]].

Note that the Destiny is also notorious amongst SRW fans for a bit difficult, if not actually NintendoHard, as the way damage is calculated essentially forces SuperRobots to not tank their way through as usual.

usual.

Note that the Destiny is also notorious amongst SRW fans for a bit difficult, if not actually NintendoHard, as the way damage is calculated essentially forces SuperRobots to not tank their way through as usual.

** This appears to be a case of the defense stat getting more emphasis than usual in damage calculations; in practice, high pilot defense plus high armor rating for mecha = tank.

to:

** This appears to be a case of There is no bug, Destiny simply has defensive stats on par with Classic games while weapons have attack power on par with the defense stat getting more emphasis than usual in much higher-power OG games. Lacking the higher Armor to balance it out, overall damage calculations; in practice, high pilot defense plus high armor rating is much higher. Accuracy is similarly high, but most reals have Focus to make up the difference, while it's much rarer for mecha = tank.supers to get Guard.

[[AndTheFandomRejoiced And now that Destiny is announced to be]] part of ''SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'', the game has not been forgotten and has returned in style.
!Featured series (debuts in bold):
* '''Anime/TheBigO (Season 1)'''
* '''[[MiraiRoboDaltanious Future Robo Daltanious]]'''
* '''[[GetterRobo Getter Robo Armageddon]]'''
* [[{{Godmars}} Six God Combination Godmars]]
* '''{{Macross 7}}'''
* '''{{Megazone 23}} (Parts I and II)'''
* Mobile Suit Gundam Series
** {{Zeta Gundam}}
** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Gundam ZZ]]
** {{Chars Counterattack}}
** [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Victory Gundam]]
** {{Gundam Wing}} (TV series, ''not'' Endless Waltz)
* Mazinger Series
** {{Mazinger Z}}
** {{Great Mazinger}}
** [[{{Grendizer}} UFO Robo Grendizer]]

Also, [[SuperRobotWarsZ Z and Z2]] feature a large portion of D's roster- only Daltanious, Megazone23, Victory and ZZ Gundam aren't present, with the original Mazinger trio being left in the first. It's possibly only coincidence, but [[WildMassGuessing a remake of this game using Z2's engine is extremely possible]].
----
!!Tropes common to this game are:
* AppliedPhlebotinum (The protagonists' mecha run on it, and it's what allows either [[spoiler:Glacies or Wintos]] to join up later, [[spoiler: as well as justify why the Forte Gigas has the most EN in the game]])
* AwesomeMcCoolname ([[spoiler:"Forte Gigas"]] is ''exactly'' what you want your HumongousMecha to be called)
* CoolMask ([[{{Grendizer}} Duke Fleed]] and Chronicle Asher)
* CloningBlues (Kroppen is a clone of Emperor Harin, Kento's father, but he accuses Harin of being the clone. A radiation test verifies that Kroppen is the clone)
* CombiningMecha (Daltanius, Godmars, Getter Robo, [[GetterRobo Shin Getter Robo]] and [[spoiler: Forte Gigas, combined from the protagonists' {{Super Robot}}s Ganador and Strega]])
* CompositeCharacter ([[{{Godmars}} Emperor Zul]] in Destiny is a combination of the original Emperor Zul from the TV series (has his appearance and personality), [[MiraiRoboDaltanious Emperor Dolmen]] (due to the Kroppen cloning plot) and [[{{Grendizer}} King Vega]] (he led the attack that destroyed Planet Fleed))
** This is actually something that Zul would do, as he had several clones of himself within the TV series.
* CrapsackWorld (It already sucked from the get go, and the villains are hell bent on making it stay that way)
* EasilyForgiven (You can recruit [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Katejina]] [[CompleteMonster Loos]] and instantly forgive every single thing of [[MoralEventHorizon sheer depravity that she has done]]. Granted, several of her actions, such as killing members of the Shrike Team and Odelo, don't occur in Destiny)
* TheEmpire (The Gishin Empire and the [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Zanscare Empire]])
* DarkerAndEdgier (When asked about what happened to most of the [[ZetaGundam AEUG]], [[ZetaGundam Kamille Bidan's]] response is [[EverybodysDeadDave they were dead before the game started]]...and this is just in the first few scenarios...)
** Zanscare's brutality is a large plot point early on during intermissions, including their habits of public executions. [[CharsCounterattack Amuro Ray and Bright Noah]] fail to stop [[CharsCounterattack Char Aznable's attempt at dropping Axis on Earth]]. ''Both'' of the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Purus]] are dead (unlike the Gundam Evolve short that retconned Puru 2's demise). Destiny pretty much finds a way to make Universal Century more depressing, even when events are already concluded.
* DemonicSpiders (The Ruina and Zanscare {{mooks}}. In-universe, [[GetterRobo the Invaders]] are considered this. The Megazone 23 {{mooks}} don't fall under this only because they don't swarm)
* DemotedToExtra (Unless you [[NintendoHard meet the conditions]] [[SecretCharacter to recruit her]], [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Haman Karn]] won't appear in the storyline at all)
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu ([[{{Macross 7}} Gepelnitch]], The Invaders, Emperor Zul and Perfectio.)
* EarnYourHappyEnding (Destiny makes it clear it's a CrapsackWorld from the get-go. It's up to the Blue Swear to fix that)
* EldritchAbomination (BigBad Perfectio, king of the Ruina EnergyBeings from another dimension. Since Perfectio feeds on despair, the Ruina try to turn Earth into his cattle farm by sealing Earth in another dimension. While it's possible to destroy the Ruina, Perfectio's immortal and can only be stopped by sealing the gate to its home dimension)
* EnemyMine (While Destiny includes antagonists from ''Gundam ZZ'', ''Char's Counterattack'' and ''Gundam Wing'', the situation at hand causes them to have the competence to ally with you all at the start since things are bad enough. Due to the Zanscare Empire attacking Earth, along with the Invaders and the [[MacrossSeven Protodevlin]], and the [[VillainTeamUp united alien forces of the villains from Daltanius, Godmars and Grendizer]], your heroes quickly realize pretty much the only organizations out there that still have the sheer manpower to defend humanity are the [[MobileSuitGundam Principality of Zeon]] and the [[GundamWing Order of the Zodiac]]. Thankfully, [[Anime/TheBigO Roger Smith]] takes care of the negotiations. This results in one of the first ''heroic'' roles for longstanding villains like CCA-era Char Aznable)
* FiveBadBand (The Ruina:)
** The BigBad - Perfectio
** TheDragon - Ignis
** The EvilGenius - Contagio
** TheBrute - Aquila
** The DarkChick - Umbra (Rather fitting since her name is [[MeaningfulName Latin for "shadow"]])
** The SixthRangerTraitor - Glacies or Wintos (Depending on who the primary protagonist is; [[spoiler:if certain conditions are met, they become recruitable]])
** The SixthRanger - [[Anime/TheBigO Schwarzwald]]
* FixFic (At one point, Destiny follows the plot of Megazone 23 Parts I and II (putting the "Trash" gang [[PutOnABus on a bus]]), until Eve sends the entire Megazone to another dimension to keep ADAM from destroying everything)
** Destiny also allows the player to gain back [[spoiler: [[{{Macross 7}} Kinryu]], who was KilledOffForReal in the TV series]]. In addition, [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Junko Jenko and Odelo Heinrik]] do not die in Destiny, however, [[spoiler: [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Oliver Inoue]]]] does still die, albeit through a different manner than in the series.
* FragileSpeedster (Most notably the [[{{Megazone 23}} Garland]], as well as the [[{{Godmars}} Cosmo Crusher]] and the [[{{MacrossSeven}} Valkyries]])
* GalacticConqueror (Emperor Zul)
* GameBreakingBug (A primary reason why some gamers were ticked off about Destiny: the armor coding is so bugged that it {{nerf}}s {{super robot}}s and their ability to tank)
** This appears to be a case of the defense stat getting more emphasis than usual in damage calculations; in practice, high pilot defense plus high armor rating for mecha = tank.
** On the flip side, this also turns the under-3-meter tall Garland into a GlassCannon. A stiff breeze will probably kill it, but it can kill the stiff breeze - or get it to retreat.
* GratuitousLatin, ThemeNaming (All Ruina characters and mecha. [[FridgeBrilliance There's actually a pretty good reason for this...]])
* TheHeartless (The Ruina, in the sense that they're powered by negative emotions of some sort or another)
* HeroicSacrifice ([[spoiler: [[GundamWing Trieze Kushrenada]] does this to defeat Perfectio]])
* [[HumongousMecha Humongous]] [[CombiningMecha Combining]] and/or [[TransformingMecha Transforming]] [[RealRobot Real]] and {{Super Robot}}s
* MidseasonUpgrade (Destiny notably gives Amuro ''three'' of them in a single playthrough: he begins with the Re-GZ, then moves to his canon Nu Gundam. If certain requirements are met (Amuro gets 50 kills by a certain stage and you go on the Angel Halo route), the Nu Gundam HWS (Heavy Weapons System) is unlocked. Finally, the uber-powerful Hi-Nu Gundam is a ''mandatory'' upgrade for the finale levels of the game)
* MythologyGag (Getter Robo in Destiny uses the exact same Open Get sequence from ''[[SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Super Robot Wars Impact]]'' (Getter 3/Shin Getter-3/Shin Poseidon, Getter 1/Shin Getter-1/Shin Dragon and Getter 2/Shin Getter-2/Shin Liger))
* NewGamePlus (All kill counts, customizations and cash carry over to the next playthrough. However, customizations are specific to a unit, so if you get a new or secret unit/character for the first time, it starts as a blank slate)
* NintendoHard (Variation: Haman will only join if you a) go on the [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Angel Halo]] route, b) launch Char, Kamille and [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Judau Ashta]] during a certain scenario (and they survive) and c) Char, Kamille and Judau's kill count total is 400 or more before a point in the game. The first two are easy. The last one? [[NewGamePlus Basically impossible/impractical your first time through]])
** And just to twist the knife further, if you cheat and set those characters' kills to the appropriate amount, you still have to wait until you clear the game once before Haman can join you. Yes, that's right. Haman Karn is exclusively a NewGamePlus SecretCharacter.
* PhysicalGod (Aside from Perfectio, Emperor Zul pulls some reality-warping bullshit on you to such a degree it was never matched until [[SuperRobotWarsZ The Edel Bernal]] came along and one-upped him)
* PutOnABus (Aside from the [[{{Megazone23}} "Trash"]] gang, [[{{Macross 7}} Emerald Force member Physica and Gamlin's custom VF-22]], [[MazingerZ Dr. Hell, Baron Ashura, Count Brocken]], [[GreatMazinger the Mycenae Empire]], [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Judau's friends and younger sister]], and all members of the [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Shrike Team]] (except Junko) do not appear in Destiny)
** For obvious reasons, [[{{Megazone 23}} Eve]] has a negligible presence once that storyline has been completed, but [[TheBusCameBack in her case - in about the best way possible]].
* RedshirtArmy (For once, not the basic grunts from a Gundam series, but the [[{{Macross 7}} VF-11 Thunderbolt]] appears as well. There's also a [[GundamWing Taurus]] squad that gets destroyed by the [[GetterRobo Shin Dragon]])
** In fact, if nameless {{Macross7}} OR [[GundamWing OZ]] forces show up on your side at any given time, consider them already
* SharingABody (Cliana is actually two personalities - "Chris" and "Liana" - in one body. They work together surprisingly well, given the setting and plot, but really, it's not even the strangest thing in Destiny)
* ShutUpKirk (Emperor Zul gives one to [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Relena Peacecraft]])
* TookALevelInKindness ([[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Chronicle and Katejina]] are much less bonkers and murderous in the game than they were in the series, to help suspend the disbelief that they'd be worth saving in the first place.))
* UnnecessarilyLargeInterior (The final scenario is a particularly egregious example: it takes place in an underground base at the South Pole. One of the battleships available for the mission is the [[{{Macross 7}} Battle 7]]: a [[TransformingMecha transforming]] CoolStarship that stands 1400 meters tall (about 200 meters short of a mile). It ''still'' has room to either fly or walk)
** A scenario or two earlier tries to take this into account: the only battleship you can use in said level is the [[CharsCounterattack Ra Calium]]. However, you can still sortie the ''much larger'' Shin Dragon as one of your units.
* WhatIf (Londo Bell failed to stop the Axis drop (and in fact seems to have not been formed in the first place due to OZ's coup d'etat) and got assimilated into Neo Zeon's forces? This is how Destiny starts out)
* YouKilledMyFather ([[MazingerZ Kouji Kabuto]] and [[GreatMazinger Tetsuya Tsurugi]] want to defeat Ignis for making Dr. Kabuto sacrifice himself)
* WhereItAllBegan (The final battlefield is located in the South Pole, where you first get to control Joshua and Cliana)
* WhyAmITicking: Takeru is connected to [[EarthShatteringKaboom a bomb that can wipe out the Earth]] via his brainwaves stored in the Godmars itself; therefore, players unfamiliar with Godmars are likely to be surprised when they get a game over if Godmars is destroyed (although, if you've played any of the games featuring ''SpaceRunawayIdeon'', you'll be quick to pick this little detail up).
