Added DiffLines:

* ChangingGameplayPriorities: Certain items such as fall off later on due to the -2 damage taken being strong early when units may only have an attack of like five while food buffs often become stronger as you start losing other things to spend money on and get more pets that benefit from eating food.
* CrutchCharacter: The Caterpillar is valuable in the mid game because it's easy to get and basically duplicates your strongest unit as a Butterfly, but it has no ability and can't really use a constant food buff either. As such, when the T5 and T6 units start appearing and scaling up it starts becoming a liability.

* HundredPercentCompletion: Medals are rewarded for getting a pet species to Level 3, while Ribbons are rewarded for completing an Arena run with a Level 3 of a given species. This can be tough, as some pets don't reap much benefit from levelling up and some can only be acquired by forcing certain pets to faint outside of battle.
* AndYourRewardIsClothes: Levelling up your account rewards cosmetics, from silly lil' hats for your pets to backgrounds.

* AngryAngryHippos: The Hippo gains attack and HP after defeating an enemy, so there is a good chance a Hippo can get out of control if it opposes a lot of weak pets and recovers HP back to survive the next pet's attack, especially if it levels up.

* ArtEvolution: The original, vanilla roster of pets have their artwork based off of Google , a simple, cutesy art style with BlackBeadEyes. Eventually, pet packs necessitated having to create brand new, fully original art for species not depicted in Emoji, the result being comparatively more detailed. The original species' sprites are to be replaced with new art as well.
** The devs do plan on providing the option to change between the old and new styles, however.
* AttackAttackAttack: Some pets' Abilities benefit from attacking directly over and over again. One notable example is the Hippo, who temporarily gains stats from defeating enemies. While this heavily punishes teams that rely on summoning, even a well-placed Melon can be enough to stop a Hippo cold.

While this heavily punishes teams that rely on summoning, even a well-placed Melon Melon, Pepper or Peanut can be enough to stop a Hippo cold.

* DamageReduction: There are a variety of food Perks that that reduces damage the pet takes, such as the Garlic Perk reduces damage taken by 2 for the entire battle, the Melon Perk reduces damage taken by 20 once per battle, and the Potato Perk reduces damage taken from pet's abilities by 10 twice per battle.

* FullBoarAction: The Boar gains attack and HP before it attacks, so it can easily get out of control if it faces a lot of weak pets and recovers HP to survive the next pet's attack.

* LateCharacterSyndrome: Tier 6 Pets can fall victim to this, as their late appearance in Shops means their stats are quite low compared to a unit with several turns' worth of stat investment.

to:

* KillStreak: The Hippo gain attack and HP for each opposing pet it defeats.
* LastChanceHitPoint: The Pepper Perk allows the pet to survive with at least 1 HP from a single attack, even from those with the Peanut Perk. The downside is that the Pepper wears out after one attack, even from pets that don't faint it in one attack.

* MoreDakka: A battle can quickly escalate into this if there are several units that can damage random enemies without it having to be in the very front (i.e., the Blowfish, the Snake, the Octopus).

Super Auto Pets (often abbreviated as SAP by players) is a free-to-play auto-battler by Team Wood Games about teams of cute animals ("pets") coming together... and beating each other up 'til one side's left standing.

The premise is simple; You form and prep a team of pets to then battle against someone's own gang of critters. You have a chance to adjust your party before each battle, spending coins at the shop to purchase units and Food (consumables that do all sorts of things, from flat stat buffs to applying specific effects called Perks). You can even buy additional units of a given species and combine them to gain EXP (and maybe even level them up), increasing stats and buffing its Ability. Unit placement, strategy, and luck all play a factor in a successful run.

run. It's all highly addicting - You have been warned.

* Arena Mode: Asynchronous matchups - Once your party is ready to go, the game matches you up with someone with a similar (if not the exact same) run ratio of battles had / wins / remaining lives. There's no turn timer, meaning you can take as much time as you want before the next battle.

* Versus Mode: Here, you essentially match up against a set number of players in a player-created lobby. The game rules are mostly dictated by whatever the lobby creator had set. Players can even create private lobbies to battle their friends.

The game was initially released as a browser game on itch.io and Newgrounds at April 14, 2021, and is currently available on [=SteamOS=], Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS. In November 2021, the game was ranked #65 on popular streaming platform Twitch, with 3 million hours watched.

SAP frequently updates with new content and balance changes, being very responsive to player input. It is also highly addicting - You have been warned.

This can be tough, as some pets don't get ANY benefit from levelling up, some can only be acquired by forcing normal pets to faint outside of battle. Truly achieving 100% completion takes a lot of work and dedication.
** The most notorious of them all is the Sloth: It's so rare that seeing a single one in dozens of hours of gameplay is not uncommon, it has no Ability, and levelling it up doesn't yield stat gains.

* AttackAttackAttack: A few units activate their effects when they attack, but the most notable is the Tier 6 Boar. It gains stats before it attacks, making it a more powerful Hippo, that only gains stats after it attacks and survives. However, it is acquired late compared to the Tier 4 Hippo, and raising its stats to survive more than a single hit is rarely worth it. The Octopus is perhaps a better example of a useful Attack ability, but only gains this at Level 3.
* AwesomeYetImpractical:
** The Boar gains stats before every time it attacks. However, because of how late it's acquired, the enemy team may already outpace it unless you focus on buffing it, and a comparable result could already be achieved by a well leveled but more easily available Hippo.

** The Swan is a Tier 2 friend with absolutely no battle or buffing abilities, but it has decent stats and gives an extra gold every turn (that improves with the level). Not the most exciting of units, but incredibly useful since this is one of the only ways to influence the economy in the game and appears so early.
** The Mosquito can randomly attack an enemy for 1 damage, and will attack more enemies the more it levels up. While the attack damage quickly gets outpaced, its true value lies in the late game, where melon armor becomes more commonplace; mosquitos wind up being a respectable tier-1 in the late game, purely for armor breaking purposes.
* CarFu: The Deer invokes this by being a unit with very low base stats, but summoning a much-stronger Bus upon fainting.

* JunkRare: The Sloth is the rarest friend in the game, with only a small chance to appear in any shop. It has the lowest possible stats with no battle ability, and its rarity means the only way to level is with the Tier 5 food item, Chocolate, or a level 3 Hatchling Chick. Of course, there are medals awarded for having a level 3 of each friend in a 10 win team, making the Sloth always tempting! Plus, he BELIEVES in you!

* MoreDakka: The Blowfish deals a few points of damage to a enemy target whenever it survives damage. Combine this with a build of garlic to reduce damage, reviving Hedgehogs to damage all units, Camels to keep its health up, and a Tiger to activate its ability multiple times, and a battle can involve nothing but pinging damage all around the battlefield after a single attack.
* MosquitoMiscreants: The mosquito is one of the more popular tier 1 units, and its random targeting can be useful even in the late game for breaking melon armor.
