* MysteriousPast: The tie-in manga gave more backstory to the playable characters, except Kayenne. We only know that he's [[Really700YearsOld 112]], that Mingane is his sister and that Nashoba is his "[[BloodBrothers hunting brother]]", nothing else is known about him, not even how he met Rosalya in the first place.

* AwesomeMcCoolname: Chado is pronounced like "shadow". His name was actually Shadow in Samir Rebib's very early drawings before he Frenchified it.

* TheRunaway: Princess Rosalya ran away from Adorya to seek the Lands of Life, where she hopes to be freed from her curse, and because she suspects her father of planning to [[ArrangedMarriage marry her]] to Ayron.

* NeverTrustATitle: No place in the game is called the "Lightning Kingdom". The closest thing it has is the Sparkling Kingdom, which was the name of the former alliance between Gendys and Adorya.

* TakeMyHand: Askel does this to save Rosalya when Mantara ends Ayron's assault by diving into a lake. The song that plays during this cutscene is even titled "Take My Hand".

''Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom'' is a 2017 [[ActionRPG action RPG]]/[[FightingGame fighting game]] [[GenreMashup hybrid]] developed by the French studio Enigami and published by [[Creator/FocusHomeInteractive Focus Home Interactive]] for PC, [=PlayStation 4=] and Xbox One (and later ported to [=PlayStation 5=] and Xbox Series X|S).

* DreadlockRasta: The mischievous isolitos all wear dreadlocks.

After the heroes defeat him without killing him, he's given a MercyKill by [[StakingTheLovedOne his own daughter]] Irys.

* AbortedArc: The tie-in manga introduces Altania, a powerful ally of the Adoryans, and the game reveals that she's the third daughter of the fallen Gendyan King Meos. However, the Gendyans seem to believe she died when Meos's palace was attacked by the gromiz and the manga doesn't explain what happened to her after this and why she joined the Adoryans. She ends up never appearing in the game, and the questions about her are never answered.
* AccidentalMurder: [[StoryBranching Depending on the player's choices]], either [[spoiler:Irys]] or [[spoiler:Kaorys]] accidentally kills [[spoiler:her sister]] while trying to reason [[spoiler:her]] when [[spoiler:she makes a FaceHeelTurn]].

* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: The reason why [[spoiler:[[StoryBranching either]] Irys or Kaorys [[FaceHeelTurn betrays]] the Mantarians]].

* SpiderPeople: The dark shi turned Meos into a combination of a human and a GiantSpider.

* TheAtoner: Ajoss [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom made the mistake]] of throwing Altonataros's SpellBook into the Gromiz Lair, where Zagrom found it and used its powers to destroy Meos's kingdom. Cycles later, the now-undead Ajoss is trying to atone for his mistake, and the player can [[StoryBranching choose to side with him]] when his wife Vrynn, who believes him to be a traitor, confronts him.

* BadassesWearBandanas: Chado wears one on his head and Askel one around his neck.

* FantasticRacism: Both the game and the tie-in manga feature [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain shelk-hating Adoryan soldiers]]. Irys also hates the Gromiz, though this is justified in that they slaughtered her father's people and are responsible for his curse.

* TokenHeroicOrc: Ragan and Zlog are the only friendly Gromiz in the game. The former was the king of the Gromiz before Zagrom overthrew him and gives the heroes some useful information to enter the Gromiz Lair, the latter becomes Zagrom's [[BenevolentMageRuler benevolent successor]] if the player [[StoryBranching chooses]] to give him Zagrom's book of spells after defeating him.

* ElementalPowers: The party's spells use the four basic elements, [[BlowYouAway air]], [[PlayingWithFire fire]], [[MakingASplash water]] and [[DishingOutDirt earth]], as well as two compound elements, [[ShockAndAwe lightning]] (air+fire) and [[GreenThumb plant]] (water+earth). The [[FantasticFlora snow bloodor]] also produces [[AnIcePerson ice shi]], Ayron can use [[ExtraOreDinary metal shi]], and [[TimeMaster time shi]] and [[SpaceMaster space shi]] are mentioned as extremely advanced forms of shi manipulation. Interestingly, each fighter has a different [[ManaMeter shi meter]] for each of the four basic elements, for instance air spells only consume shi from the air meter.

* SeeTheInvisible: Rosalya has the power to reveal invisible chests and doors. However, she can't use this power in battle, so it's unhelpful against [[OurSpiritsAreDifferent shivos]], who can turn invisible.

* MadeOfEvil: Serkans are creatures made out of dark shi.

* InvasionOfTheBabySnatchers: Sabba started abducting children to raise them as her own after she [[OutlivingOnesOffspring lost her son]] and became [[LoveMakesYouEvil corrupted]] by the dark shi.

* PlayingWithFire: Rosalya starts the game with a high fire affinity, which is justified in that she was [[TheChosenOne summoned]] by the Shiness of Fire.

* DishingOutDirt: Chado starts the game with a high earth affinity. He can also summon menhirs and use them as [[BoulderBludgeon projectiles]], but this doesn't consume shi and [[NonElemental counts as a physical attack]], oddly enough.

* FantasticRacism: Both the game and the tie-in manga feature [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain shelk-hating Adoryan soldiers]].

* FurryFemaleMane: [[spoiler:Chado's mother]] sports one in the vision he has of her after defeating Sabba. Averted with the shelks, who all sport a mane whether they're male or female since they're humanoid lions.

* FreeRangeChildren: Chado is 11 and Poky 10, yet they both left their home meteora and wander around Gendys with little concern from adults, Poky even mentions that he chose to leave his family behind to follow Chado. This is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by the wakis attending their airship's takeoff in the tie-in manga.

* OnlyOneName: All of the game's main characters seem to only have one name, only a few unimportant [[NonPlayerCharacter NPCs]] such as the biologist Feindar Fourbépines have surnames. Averted in the original manga, however, where the protagonists had surnames.
