** Many, including the devs, believe this is the reason so many people voted for Ankylosaurus as the new playable herbivore, as most commenters on Kickstarter thought the gameplay for Anatosaurus would have been more fun, but Ankylosaurus is a popular and well-known dinosaur that the majority of mainstream gamers are familiar with. It's worth pointing out though that playing as Anatosaurus would have involved migrating, which would have been a nightmare to program.

* StockDinosaurs: The game includes such familiar faces as Tyrannosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Edmontosaurus referred to as Anatosaurus by the devs, due to E. annectens being different enough from E. regalis for the team to consider them separate genera, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Ornithomimus, the flying reptile Quetzalcoatlus, and the sea lizard Mosasaurus, but also a few more obscure genera.

Seldom Seen Species is no longer a trope.

* SeldomSeenSpecies:
** Confirmed creatures include Dakotaraptor, Acheroraptor, Champsosaurus, Chamops, Habrosaurus, Borealosuchus, Thoracosaurus, Basilemys, Didelphodon, Denversaurus, Avisaurus, Thescelosaurus, Palaeosaniwa, Cimolopteryx, Pectinodon revealed in an issue of Prehistoric Times, Brodavis, Toxochelys, Axestemys, Meniscoessus, Brachychampsa, Anzu, Casterolimulus, Lonchidion, Ophisthotriton, Scapherpeton, Palaeobatrachus will be heard but not seen, due to their tiny size, and Lepisosteus.
** The featured species of Triceratops is T. prorsus, as opposed to the more popular T. horridus. Similarly, Quetzalcoatlus is the smaller Quetzalcoatlus lawsoni instead of the giant Quetzalcoatlus northropicontrary to popular belief, Q. northropi was not even native to the Hell Creek Formation, though admittedly its range was almost certainly not restricted to any one area due to its powerful flight abilities.
** Animals cut from the game are Alamosaurus, Leptoceratops, Obamadon, and Trierarchuncus.

* NoNameGiven: A number of species have not been formally classified as of the game's release and are thus unnamed, including the ornithomimid (although that one has been nicknamed O. minutusIt doesn't have any relationship to Ornithomimus; it is based off remains initially assigned to Ornithomimus and has not yet been reclassified into a new genus) and a rail-like bird know simply as the "Bone Butte bird"/DePalma's ornithuran (in reference to the scientist who first described it in an overview of the game's Bone Butte site).
