* AllThereInTheManual: Much of the lore of the Seven Heroes comes from either supplementary guides only released in Japan or other spin-off games that came much later and many of them were [[NoExportForYou not released outside Japan.]] The remaster added some additional background about them in the BonusDungeon unique to this version, and fortunately the remaster is the version that got a global release.

* ConvectionSchmonvection: Needless to say, a stone boat little bigger than a canoe would not protect a human from the heat of the environment as they try to sail through lava on Mt. Comroon to get to Zemio. The boat itself would heat up to the point of burning them to a crisp in seconds, let alone the air around them.

%%* JunglePrincess: She rules over the Salamat jungle as its tyrannical ruler.

abilities.

LethalLavaLand: Comroon Volcano.Volcano is an active volcano and depending on the players actions it will either freeze up or continue to generate burning lava that damages the player in combat. The town of Zemio is inhabited by Salamanders that can withstand the lava naturally, and only a stone boat can allow the player to reach it.

… this is a bit excessive. They’re not THAT impossible and of course being able to always run makes their difficulty negligible. It also has a very OP rare drop for this point in the game.

* ChestMonster: The Doppelgangers in this game '''[[PunctuatedForEmphasis do. Not. Fuck. Around.]]''' If you trigger any of [[EarlyBirdBoss the 4 of them hidden among the chests in the mansion in Somon]], then just ''forget it.'' They have 999 HP at a point in the game where almost no other enemy has more than 100, can drain your HP to heal themselves, and their Mad Biting attack can confuse your party members, assuming it doesn't just [[OneHitKill one-shot them]]. To add insult to injury, you don't even get anything worthwhile if you do somehow beat them. The only mercy is that, unlike most instances of this trope in turn-based [=JRPGs=], you're allowed to flee from the battle, because if you couldn't [[TotalPartyKill you'd be dead]].

They have 999 HP Somon manor right at a point in the start of the game where almost no other enemy has more than 100, can drain are ''incredibly'' powerful and likely to curbstomp new players who haven't learned the tactics they'll need to handle such a powerful enemy. This early your HP characters are also unlikely to have any skills able to easily whittle them down or heal themselves, and their team, while the Dopplegangers Mad Biting Bite attack can confuse your party members, assuming it doesn't just [[OneHitKill one-shot them]]. To add insult to injury, you don't even get anything worthwhile if you do somehow beat them. The only mercy is one shot almost anyone. On top of that, unlike most instances of they only rarely drop loot (though the item, the Stardust Robe, is rather OP mage gear for this trope in turn-based [=JRPGs=], you're allowed to flee from part of the battle, because if you couldn't [[TotalPartyKill you'd be dead]].
game.) This particular enemy is both a hard skill check and a lesson in teaching players to know when to just run, as the Flee command works on almost every enemy in this game.
* ChosenOneChosenOne: The Inheritance magic that Leon takes on at the start of the game allows all of his descendants, beginning with Gerard, to continually gain the skill of every predecessor until all of the Seven Heroes are finally beaten. Hence every Emperor after Leon is really the only one strong enough to do the job since the lessons learned by predecessors are the only way to survive the deadly powers of the Heroes (particularly Kzinssie's Soulsteal which requires Leon to first die to it so Gerard can learn how to dodge it by inheriting his father's power.)

''[=Romancing SaGa 2=]'' is the fifth game in the ''VideoGame/{{SaGa|RPG}}'' series from Creator/{{Square|Enix}}soft, originally released [[NoExportForYou only in Japan]] for the UsefulNotes/SuperFamicom in 1993. It would eventually be brought to the rest of the world more than twenty years later (as an EnhancedRemake for iOS/Android, and later all major consoles and UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} on December 15, 2017). It does not focus on just one character, but the lineage of an empire.
