The galaxy of Xerxes went through two wars and a civil war, but is now seemingly at peace. In an effort to promote unity, Princess Ellemine of House Rave is to be wed to Prince Chad of House Zephyr. Unfortunately, the Niredian Count Vorakia Estuuban has one of his pawns perform a suicide bombing during the wedding, framing High King Arcturo Rave. Ellemine flees with her bodyguard Klein in order to find a way to clear her father's name and stop Vorakia's conspiracy, but it won't be easy with the Galactic Enforcers and SWAT on her tail. Klein himself will also have to face his dark past in Kardel and realize his destiny in this grand conflict.

* AmbiguousStartOfDarkness: Percivus, Lady Tajuma, and the party discuss Reverend Sergio [[spoiler:after Klein kills him. They note that Sergio wasn't such a fanatic for the Lord of Divinity in the past, but they also wonder if he was simply hiding his darker side all along or if Count Vorakia Estuuban manipulated him into becoming a MadScientist]].
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: Sharky, the leader of the Star Raiders, wants to convince Veronica to marry him. To that end, he wants to monopolize Moldavite in order to make a gift to impress her. When she continues refusing his advances, he kidnaps her and forces her to marry him on his ship.

* BittersweetEnding: After the final battle, [[spoiler:Niredia is defeated and peace is restored to the Galaxy of Xerxes, but Klein had to sacrifice himself to take Count Vorakia Estuuban down with him]].
* BloodKnight: Sola seeks to test her combat skills against strong opponents, and is willing to be imprisoned by Lord Dorado in order to participate in his underground tournament.
* BrutalBonusLevel:
** Before the June 2023 content update, Planet X was the hardest dungeon in the game with very high level enemies, and the boss of the area is rated for level 90.
** After the content update, Planet Zaphoria introduces bosses that are even stronger than the Lord of the Unknown. Even the regular enemies are faster than most party members while hitting very hard.
* BrutalHonesty: In an scenario viewer cutscene, Sola asks Ellemine to act as a translator for Zazir's thoughts. However, Zazir answers Sola's questions with harsh truths, and Ellemine attempts to paraphrase these thoughts into something nicer sounding, such as translating Zazir's criticism of Sola's apple pies to a recommendation to use healthier ingredients.
* CardCarryingVillain: At first, Count Vorakia Estuuban tries to justify his actions as a way to protect the Galaxy of Xerxes from Ursula, but when Arcturo doesn't buy it, Vorakia quickly admits that he only cares about his own glory and mocks Arcturo for trusting him in the past.
* CharmPerson: Ellemine can inflict the Conversion ailment on non-boss enemies, which causes them to attack their own side. She normally doesn't use this ability in cutscenes [[spoiler:until she brainwashes Heron to let them sneak into Rave Palace]].
* ChurchgoingVillain: One of Count Vorakia Estuuban's collaborators is [[spoiler:Reverend Sergio. Even when speaking to other members of the conspiracy, he says "may the Lord of Divinity bless you". Unfortunately, he's also a KnightTemplar who believes that he needs to forcibly evolve sentient life with horrific experiments, as part of his deity's will]].
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: Later bosses can take actions at the start of a round or if they take enough damage, even if it's not their turn.
* CorruptChurch: The order of the Lord of Divinity teaches its followers to shun non-believers and their leader, Reverend Sergio, [[spoiler:is a KnightTemplar who believes his god wants him to forcibly evolve the people of the galaxy with dangerous experiments]]. In Tarkalia Village, Father Valermo seeks the slaughter the Farseen for defying his religion and grooms one of the children attending the church.
* CreateYourOwnHero: The Draconians imprison Prince Chad for criticizing Arcturo's arrest, which leads to Chad stealing a shuttle and coming into contact with Klein and Ellemine to join their party. If they didn't do so, he likely would have been stuck in Sector 1 with no knowledge of how deep the conspiracy goes and no means to change the outcome of the trial.
* CrutchCharacter: Bryan and Lumina are guest characters, with the former starting at level 4 and the latter having powerful offensive and support skills. This allows them to carry the otherwise weak party for the first few dungeons of the game, but they both leave the party during the events of Planet Orion.
* CutscenePowerToTheMax:
** In the Granian Research Facility, [[spoiler:Heron easily knocks out Klein with a few psi attacks, despite losing the battle earlier]].
** In Rave Palace, Klein himself [[spoiler:uses his psi powers to disable three robotic minions and pull the Erran children away from Reverend Sergio]]. Justified because he expended all his psi energy, which later causes him to collapse.
* DirtyCop: The SWAT and Galactic Enforcers are in on Count Vorakia Estuuban's plans to take over the galaxy of Xerxes, and are willing to cover up any evidence that might exonerate High King Arcturo. This doesn't seem to apply to all of them, since many of them join Ellemine's alliance once she takes back the Cosmic Cube.
* DisproportionateRetribution: The Draconians, [[spoiler:on Prince Eryn's orders]], kidnap and imprison Prince Chad for speaking out against Arcturo's arrest. This is despite him having little political clout to influence the outcome of the trial.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Eryn [[spoiler:wears a Psi-Blocker not just to hide his evil ambitions, but also because he didn't want anyone to realize his feelings of inadequacy and pity him]].
* DrawAggro: Zazir's Protector buff increases the chances of the enemies targeting him with single-target moves.
* DrivenToSuicide: Aftet the party escapes from the Galactic Enforcers on Planet Kardel, [[spoiler:Veronica's mother, Ethyl, is so distraught over her troubled past and current fugitive status that she jumps out of the shuttle into the cold vaccuum of space]].
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: Lumina [[spoiler:is abruptly killed off after the second boss fight, due to the shrapnel from the boss's explosion]].
* DualBoss: Sharky fights alongside his Robo-Thug, which can also be considered a boss in its own right due to its durability.
* EasilyForgiven: Zazir quickly forgives Klein for mistaking him for an enemy and attacking him.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Deconstructed with [[spoiler:Prince Eryn, who turns on his family in order to gain political power. Although he cares about his mother and orders the Galactic Enforcers to take her alive, his mother ends up getting killed by shrapnel anyways. As a result, he blames Ellemine and Klein for failing to protect her rather than admitting his own mistakes. It's implied that part of his reason for going rogue is because he's jealous that Ellemine gets their mother's attention]].
* EvenEvilCanBeLoved: High King Arcturo Rave [[spoiler:is betrayed by his son Eryn, who has no problem letting Count Vorakia Estuuban perform dangerous experiments on him. Despite that, Arcturo simply apologizes to Eryn for failing him as a father]].
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Lady Marselva is upset when [[spoiler:Eryn has Chad imprisoned, though this is partially because doing so will cause her husband to suspect Count Estuuban's conspiracy. She's once again angered when Eryn has Ira and Gwen taken for experimentation, and when the party captures her, she regrets killing her husband and traumatizing her children]].
* EvilFormerFriend: While it's ambiguous how genuine their friendship was, Count Vorakia Estuuban was the only councilmember to help Arcturo fend off a reinvasion from the constellation of Ursula and was crucial to their victory in the second Xerian War. However, he insisted on invading the enemy galaxy while Arcturo wanted to leave them alone and focus on protecting Xerxes, leading to Vorakia going to war with Arcturo. Although Vorakia eventually [[ISurrenderSuckers surrendered]] and seemingly rekindled their friendship, he was really looking for a new opportunity to take over Xerxes all along.
* FalseFlagOperation: An Erran traitor use a psi-bomb to [[FrameUp frame]] the Erran King Arcturo for attempting to kill humans and draconians at the wedding. As a result, Arcturo is arrested and placed on trial while the rest of the galaxy believes the Errans are trying to conquer them.
* FantasticRacism: The setting contains many different sapient species, and many people are uncomfortable with each other's different cultures, despite the Xerxes galaxy supposedly being at peace. The distrust against the Errans comes to the forefront once Count Vorakia Estuuban frames Erran King Arcturo for ordering a suicide bomber to attack the wedding.
* FauxAffablyEvil:
** Count Vorakia Estuuban acts like a sophisticated aristocrat and sometimes compliments the heroes for overcoming his conspiracy, but he's really an underhanded and ambitious schemer who wants to take over the galaxy of Xerxes.
** Captain Sharky Horder, the leader of the Star Raiders, acts charming in order to woo Veronica, but he just comes off as a creep. When she keeps rejecting him, he has his minions cast a silencing hex on her and tries to force her to marry him.
* FiveTokenBand: The party consists of two Errans (Ellemine and Klein) , a human (Chad), a Farian (Veronica), a Kunian (Sola), and a Draconian/Granian hybrid (Zazir).
* GeniusLoci: Vismel and Aldebaran are planets that have their own consciousness. The latter planet guides Ser Herdinon and the Farseen to a hidden ancient city so they can hide from Tarkalia Village's intolerant church.
* GodGuise: In the city of Volaris Prime, the Ether Demon Malgorth posed as a benevolent deity in order to corrupt the citizens.
* GoldDigger: Marselva Zephyr [[spoiler:only married King Zephyr to gain wealth and political power, and is willing to betray him to get into Count Vorakia Estuuban's good graces]].
* HalfHumanHybrid: Subverted. Klein's father is a human and his mother is an Erran. However, his mother reveals [[spoiler:she conceived him without a biological father as part of a H.E.A.L. experiment]].
* HeelFaceTurn: Ser Herdinon was once a Tellian soldier who fought for the Ursula galaxy, but when the Farseen community treats his wounds, he defects from the army and dedicates his life to helping the Farseen.
* HeelRealization:
** At the end of the party's second infiltration of the Cosmic Cube, [[spoiler:Eryn dies realizing that he was wrong to betray his family in pursuit of power. When Ellemine insists that Count Vorakia Estuuban is to blame for manipulating him, Eryn states that it's no excuse, since he performed his actions out of his own free will]].
** After the party retakes the Cosmic Cube, [[spoiler:Judicator Valinne has Lady Marselva confess her crimes to Chad, Gwen, and Ira. As she's sent to prison, Marselva notes that putting her ambitions ahead of her family cost her everything]].
* HeroicSacrifice:
** On Planet Orion, [[spoiler:Bryan stays behind to stall the Galactic Enforcers so that the rest of the party can escape]].
** In the ending, [[spoiler:Count Vorakia Estuuban captures Klein and tries to use him as a hostage against Arcturo and Ellemine while planning to steal his ether powers. Klein overloads both of them with ether, resulting in both of them being killed]].
* IgnoredEpiphany: When Prince Eryn learns [[spoiler:his mother Lumina died, he's distraught at first, but then quickly [[NeverMyFault shifts the blame]] on Ellemine for failing to protect her, even though Lumina died due to Eryn siding with Count Vorakia Estuuban in the first place]].
* InadequateInheritor: Although High King Arcturo did manage to win the second Xerian war, it's noted that unlike his predecessor Galadlar, he was unable to unite the various factions of Xerxes and gain their trust. As a result, he could only rely on the Estuuban brothers to win the war, but even this alliance didn't last and Vorakia turned on him for not being hawkish enough to invade the Ursula constellation. During the third war, he was only able to get Vismel's support, but no other planet to help him in his war with Vorakia Estuuban. By the present, Vorakia turns several key political players against Arcturo, ensuring that the galaxy is fractured.
* InformedAbility: Ellemine believes Eryn is wiser than her when it comes to politics and would make a great leader. In practice, [[spoiler:he comes off as the weak link of Count Estuuban's conspiracy. While Count Vorakia Estuuban, Lady Marselva, and Reverend Sergio perform their roles without making significant mistakes, Eryn puts their entire operation at risk by imprisoning Chad merely for speaking up for Arcturo's innocence. This accomplishes nothing beneficial for the conspiracy and causes the rest of the council to become suspicious, forcing the conspirators to kill and imprison the other council members]].
* JerkassToOne: Klein isn't the nicest of the party to begin with, but he's especially cold towards Chad, despite how the latter is his liege Ellemine's fiancé. It's implied that Klein hasn't let go of his prejudice against humans, causing him to distrust Chad despite the latter's loyalty to Ellemine.
* KarmicDeath: Robert Jancarlo sold Klein into sex slavery at Kor's Facility. Later, Jancarlo is kidnapped by the Enforcers, who take him to that very same facility and mutate him into a mindless monster.
* KlingonPromotion: Count Vorakia Estuuban is the ruler of Niredia, having obtained the position by killing his predecessor Ragnar Quasag.
* KnightTemplar:
** Reverend Sergio and his followers are fanatics for their deity, the Lord of Divinity, and considers all other religious beliefs to be inferior to their own. Worse yet, [[spoiler:they join Count Vorakia Estuuban's conspiracy for the sake of utilizing their experiments, since they believe their god wants to forcibly evolve people into "divine" beings]].
** Similarly, the Archlight scientists want to force humanity to become immortal cyborgs because they believe humans need to evolve in order to keep up with the other races in the galaxy.
* LethalChef: There are several scenario viewer cutscenes where Sola's apple pies turn out horribly, to the point where they immediately send people to the restroom.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: The Archlight scientists, like Reverend Sergio, seeks to use science to forcefully evolve people. However, they're willing to back down when it's clear that they took things too far and accept Chad's suggestion to use their science in safer ways, making them come off as genuinely more [[WellIntentionedExtremist well-intentioned]].
* LovableJock: Prince Chad is well-known in his school for his athletic prowess, and he's very approachable and willing to help complete strangers. He's also one of the few people in Sector 1 who wants the give the Rave family the benefit of doubt when they're framed.
* MagicKnight: Klein can learn physical skills as well as skills that make use of his INT. His ATK and INT growth are also about the same, unlike other characters who specialize in one of these stats.
* ManipulativeBastard: Count Vorakia Estuuban is out to conquer the galaxy of Xerxes, and he gains allies by preying on their own lust for power and insecurities. However, the story makes it clear that he never forces his closest pawns to do anything they didn't already want to do, and that being manipulated by Vorakia doesn't absolve them of responsibility.
* MentorOccupationalHazard: Bryan is a CKA officer who teaches the basics of combat to Klein. On Planet Orion, [[spoiler:he dies fighting Galactic Enforcers by himself so that the rest of the party can flee to the shuttle]].
* MercyKill: Thanks to her empath abilities, Ellemine realizes that many of the wandering mutants are in constant pain. The mercenary leader Dart points out that regardless, killing them is the only option both because of the threat they present to innocents and because it's the only way to end their suffering.
* MixAndMatchCritters: Zazir was created with both Draconian and Granian DNA, giving him high physical strength and telepathic powers.
* NatureVersusNurture: The Draconians are known for being power-hungry darwinists and Farians are known for resorting to crime, but it's implied that these traits are due less to inherent racial attributes and more because Niredia and Kardel have very unforgiving environments, since Zazir displays none of the negative traits of Draconians despite having their DNA and the Farians of Opalius Village live peacefully with Kunians.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Unlike most of the other races, Errans do not leave a corpse behind when they die.
* NoHonorAmongThieves: Count Vorakia Estuuban's conspirators are willing to betray each other, as shown when [[spoiler:Eryn has Gwen and Ira kidnapped for experimentation, despite Lady Marselva's insistence that they be spared]].
* NotAlwaysEvil:
** Although the Draconians are portrayed as valuing power and authority above all else, Zazir, a Draconian-Granian hybrid, has none of these traits, showing that such values are learned rather than an inherent part of their race. It's implied that Niredia's harsh environment fostered the Draconians' darwinist mindset.
** The Farians of Planet Kardel are known for resorting to crime, but the Farians on Planet Yurielle live peacefully. Like with the Draconians, this is due to the latter planet being more bountiful and habitable than the former.
** The Tellians are a winged-race that was among the invaders from the Ursula galaxy. One of them, Ser Herdinon, decides to defect from the army and live the rest of his live in peace with the Farseen.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Lady Tajuma seems like a strict authority figure, but she turns out to be into the tabletop game, Asteroids and Aliens, a [=DnD=] parody.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist:
** Prince Eryn claims [[spoiler:that siding with Count Vorakia Estuuban will put him on the throne, which will allow him to use his position for the good of the galaxy, but he's clearly acting out of jealousy towards his sister Ellemine for being chosen as the heir to the Rave throne, going as far as to blame her for their mother's death just to avoid his own guilt. Even worse is that Ellemine would have gladly shared political power with him, so he could have chosen a much safer means of improving the galaxy if he was more willing to cooperate with his sister]].
** Count Vorakia Estuuban claims that he needs to take over the galaxy of Xerxes so he can invade the rival constellation of Ursula, stating that this is the best way to protect and expand Xerxes. Arcturo accuses him of only caring about his own power and glory, which Vorakia immediately admits to.
* OpeningTheSandbox: The player is mostly railroaded into new locations until they clear Kor's Facility, at which point the Atlas can take the party to almost any location in the galaxy to complete sidequests.
* PragmaticHero:
** When Tessa asks the party to rescue Veronica from Captain Sharky, Klein recommends against it because he wants to focus on proving Arcturo's innocence. He only relents when Ellemine makes it clear that she wants to protect ''all'' citizens of the galaxy.
** Although Lord Percivus privately opposes Reverend Sergio's takeover of Rave, he doesn't make a move against the latter because he knows his soldiers are outmatched. He only does so once Ellemine's faction shows up to help him.
* PragmaticVillainy: Lady Marselva Zephyr [[spoiler:is upset when Prince Eryn Rave has Prince Chad Zephyr kidnapped, not because she cares about Chad, but because this action could cause Lord Falric Zephyr to become suspicious of Count Vorakia Estuuban's conspiracy. This is proven true, since the rest of the Galactic Council becomes suspicious about Chad's disappearance, forcing the conspiracy to accelerate their plans and kill or detain the other council members]].
* PsychicLink: Ellemine gives Chad a bracelet that allows him to see visions of her situation through telepathy.
* TheQuisling: Two royals, [[spoiler:Prince Eryn Rave and Lady Marselva Zephyr]], secretly conspire with Count Vorakia Estuuban to take over the galaxy of Xerxes.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Judicator Valinne is the judge presiding over [[spoiler:Arcturo's trial. While everyone else jumps to conclusions about Arcturo's guilt, Valinne is more impartial, though she admits that the evidence against him is damning and gives him a week to find proof of his evidence. She also shoots down Sergio's accusation that the Rave family kidnapped Chad as a hostage to bargain for Arcturo's freedom, since they would have made an announcement already if that were the case]].
* SelectiveObliviousness: Ellemine admits that she suspected [[spoiler:Eryn of being a traitor because of his Anti-Psi device, but didn't want to believe her brother was capable of turning on the Rave family]].
* SequelHook: On the Greldian Asteroid, Ellemine encounters a mysterious being that has vague but ominous plans for the galaxy. In the ending, [[spoiler:the mysterious being states that they will use Ellemine's desecendants for their plans]].
* SinisterMinister:
** Reverend Sergio [[spoiler:is in on Count Vorakia Estuuban's plan to take over the galaxy of Xerxes, and he uses the [[SpacePolice Galactic Enforcers]] to help achieve that goal. Worse yet, he sees himself as a righteous prophet even as he forcibly transforms people into "divine" mutants]].
** Father Valermo is even worse, since he uses his position as a Lord of Divinity clergyman to get away with molesting children. He also wants to exterminate the Farseen community for rejecting the Lord of Divinity.
* SmallStepsHero: Ellemine insists on saving Veronica from Captain Sharky and the Star Raiders, even though saving Arcturo from the corrupt council is a more important task. Her reasoning is that if she can't save a single person from a planetary EvilOverlord, she can't save her family from a galactic conspiracy.
* TheSocialDarwinist: Niredia's culture is based on a hierarchy of strength and considers KlingonPromotion to be normal. Count Vorakia Estuuban considers the rest of the galaxy to be weak for rejecting this ideology and for not going along with his plan to invade Ursula. It's implied that this ideology is partially due to the planet's harsh environment, which would encourage a survival-of-the-fittest mentality.
* SpacePirate: The Star Raiders are a criminal organization that operates all over the galaxy of Xerxes. Their leader, Sharky, even has a pirate hat.
* SuperiorSuccessor: Despite Ellemine's worries about how worthy she is in succeeding her father Arcturo, she did manage to unite the majority of Xerxes's factions against Niredia while he had a hard time finding allies for the second and third Xerian wars. Arcturo himself acknowledges her potential as a leader for forming these alliances.
* TacticalRockPaperScissors: Physical damage is good against Tech enemies, Tech damage is good against Ether enemies, and Ether damage is good against Physical enemies. However, at least two bosses, the Lord of the Unknown and Malgorth, have no type advantages or disadvantages.
* TilMurderDoUsPart: When Count Vorakia Estuuban's conspiracy starts becoming impossible to hide from the rest of the council, [[spoiler:Lady Marselva Zephyr kills Lord Falric Zephyr so that he can't get in Vorakia's way]].
* ToiletHumour: During an optional scenario viewer event, many characters get food poisoning from eating one of Sola's apple pies. Chad is distraught that all the stalls are in use, and it's implied that he either soiled his pants or released his stool on the floor.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Downplayed with Milo, a member of the Star Raiders. Most of the Star Raiders are ill-tempered brutes who peddle addictive drugs, but Milo is more [[AffablyEvil affable]] to the party and is willing to earn money legitimately through his mercenary contacts. He's still not the nicest person around, since he's willing to abandon Chad in order to steal a shuttle for himself, though he at least has the decency to leave behind a key so that Chad can pilot a different shuttle.
* TotalitarianGangsterism: The Star-Raiders are a group of SpacePirates that rule over Planet Kardel with an iron fist while running a drug ring.
* TragicBigot: Klein is cold and distrustful towards Chad for being a human. In a flashback, it's revealed that Klein had an [[AbusiveParents abusive]] human father, Robert Jancarlo, who sold him into sex slavery.
* TragicKeepsake: If the player returns to Villa's house on Planet Orion, [[spoiler:she'll give them Bryan's sword, which cannot be equipped and is instead kept as a key item to remind the party of his HeroicSacrifice]].
* {{Tsundere}}: When the party rescues Veronica, her employee Tessa claims that she only asked them to do this so that she gets her paycheck, but in an earlier conversation, Ellemine sensed that Tessa was genuinely worried for Veronica. When the authorities go after Veronica, Tessa remains loyal to the latter instead of selling her out, though she does expect a pay raise for helping.
* TheUnfought: During the AI invasion quest, Doctor Francesca and the Archlight scientists are the ones behind the rogue robots, but they're quick to surrender when confronted.
* VillainBall: The Draconians, [[spoiler:under Prince Eryn's orders, kidnap Prince Chad Zephyr for criticizing King Arcturo Rave's arrest. As Lady Marselva notes, this just ends up making the rest of the council that isn't part of Vorakia's's conspiracy more suspicious, forcing the conspirators to take drastic measures in killing and imprisoning other council members, which risks their VillainWithGoodPublicityStatus. As a result, Princess Ellemine is able to recruit the surviving council members to her cause, which would be much harder otherwise]].
* WingedHumanoid: Tellians are a race from the Ursula Constellation, and they look like angels.
