* PaperKeyRetrievalTrick: Discussed in ''Reloaded'':
-->'''Larry''': I've spent this whole night looking for a door I can open by sliding a newspaper underneath and poking the key out of the other side of the keyhole so that it falls on the newspaper. Every computer game character gets to do that except ME. It isn't fair.
** Note that the door he's looking at when he says this is a sliding door, so it wouldn't have worked anyway.

* VivaLasVegas: "Lost Wages", the setting of the original, is a parody of UsefulNotes/LasVegas, down to including a quickie wedding chapel.

* CrashCourseLanding: In the fifth game, Larry is picked to land his flight (Due to his experience in ''selling'' flight simulator programs) when the pilot goes on strike in the middle of the air due to a union contract dispute.

* ShaggyDogStory: Pretty much everything that Patti does in the fifth game amounts to nothing. She shoots the villain, but despite drawing a gun in the White House in the presence of the Vice President, he gets off through a convoluted ChewbaccaDefense. The mob's plan to use subliminals in music falls apart not because of her efforts, but because nobody could figure out to play [=CDs=] backwards. The mob's efforts to influence the government failed when their proposed bills got stuck in committee. And both of these together cause the mob to get out of the porn business, but that doesn't mean much because they quickly find alternative ways to make money. At least she got a weekend with Larry at Camp David out of it.

In the early [[TheEighties Eighties]], an up-and-coming programmer named Chuck Benton decided to test his programming skills by churning out a small, [[InteractiveFiction text-based]] AdventureGame for the UsefulNotes/AppleII by the title of ''Softporn Adventure''. After the title received runaway success, it's publisher Creator/{{Sierra}} decided that since the game was the only text-based game they'd published, it was due for a graphical upgrade. So they decided to delegate the task to in-house Creator/{{Disney}} game developer Creator/AlLowe who, after taking a look at the game, figured the game was so outdated it might as well be wearing a leisure suit.

Oddly enough, one of the things you can stuff your top with is [[spoiler: a handful of bars of hotel soap]]. One would think that would make for a distinctly misshapen bosom...

* BlackComedyRape: One of the game over scenes in LSL 3 just might suggest that Patti is about to get [[BestialityIsDepraved violated by a boar]]. Of course, this is also a {{Double Entendre}} (see below). So maybe not.

* BoringButPractical: In LSL 3, Larry has to do exercises such as push-ups in order to buff him up. Problem is, he has to do it like a hundred times for each exercise and that means ''the player too has to command each move in real time''. Maybe the developers wanted to convey the feeling of body exercises: it's boring, repetitive but it works out in the end? Not so much for gameplay...
** Even worse is the fact that the number of repeats you have to do in this section is determined by your CPU speed. Playing on anything faster than a 486? Have fun!
** Yes, originally it wasn't that bad. When the game first came out and you played it on the average machine from that era, you only had to do 25 of each exercise...
** Fixed if you use [=ScummVM=] to run the game.

* CannibalTribe: LSL 3 has a village of amazonian lesbian cannibals living deep in the jungle of Nontoonyt island, and the last puzzle involves Patti and Larry finding a way to escape their captors before they're cooked for lunch.

* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: The [[spoiler:''magic marker'']] in LSL 3.

* {{Going Commando}}/{{Vapor Wear}}: In Patti's section of LSL 3, several puzzles require removing articles of clothing. Her panties are the first to go. During the ending, this reaches the point where you can surely see Patti's bare rear ([[CensorShadow with her crotch shadowed out]]) when she and Larry land on the ground [[FacePlant face-first]] after the anti-gravity generator in the ''Space Quest'' section gets diabled.

* ImpactSilhouette: Parodied in LSL 3: when Patti lands face-first into the ground after falling from a great height, she leaves [[GagBoobs two distinctive round holes in the ground]]. The second time that happens she worries that she may end up flat by the end of the game if that happens again.

* LawyerFriendlyCameo: One of the props seen at Sierra's studios in LSL 3 is the titular [[VideoGame/TheBlackCauldron Black Cauldron]], although it isn't referred to by name, just "from another game Al Lowe worked on".

* RunningGag:
** A whole slew of double entendres in LSL 3 followed up by 'a feeling not wholly unfamiliar to you!'.
** Again in 3, Larry trying to get laid with the women in LSL 3... only to be always interrupted by something. [[spoiler: Until Patti, that's it.]]

* SquirrelsInMyPants: In LSL 3, Larry has sex with a woman called Tawni on a beach, but after a moment, he stands up and shivers because he has some crabs that have climbed in his pants. Larry announces "[[IncrediblyLamePun I've got crabs]]!", and Tawni calls it quits.

* ClothingDamage: Once Patti begins her search for Larry in LSL 3, by the time she finds him, her dress has been reduced to rags from all her adventuring. What's left of her dress is barely enough to cover up what's necessary, conveniently enough.

* GainaxEnding: ''Larry 3'', which has Larry and Patti end up at Sierra in the real world (though it's portrayed more like a movie studio, complete with Roberta Williams directing Rosella in the infamous whale tongue scene from ''VideoGame/KingsQuestIV''.

* AsianSpeekeeEngrish: Although the AsianStoreOwner in LSL 1 isn't ''East'' Asian, he speaks and even writes like this.
--> '''Sign at the magazine stand:''' "This no riblaly, no leeding!"
** Averted in ''Reloaded'', as he has speaks SurprisinglyGoodEnglish while having an Indian accent (though [[spoiler: he still pronounces "rubber" as "lubber"]]).
** Played with in ''Love for Sail'', with Wang, who was raised in Ireland, but speaks in this manner because he feels it sounds awkward otherwise. [[OohMeAccentsSlipping Sometimes he'll slip back into the Irish accent though]].

* BigOMG: The narrator says this in a disgusted tone when viewing an orgy depicted on a frieze above the door to the ballroom in LSL 7.

* TheCameo: [[VideoGame/TorinsPassage Torin and Boogle]] can be seen on the dock next to the HMS Bouncy during the opening credits of LSL 7. Later on, Torin reappears as a cameraman during one of the many attempts by Larry to get to his cabin without being seen naked.

* CollectionSidequest: ''Love For Sail'' has the '[[Literature/WheresWally Where's Dildo?]]' sidequest, which involves finding all the red-and-white-striped dildos scattered around the ship.

* EatingTheEyeCandy: Should you trigger an EasterEgg in LSL 7, Larry can stare at Drew Baringmore's bare breasts without interruption.

* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Captain Thygh in 7. There's a female competing in her contest.

** Drew in LSL 7. She insists on lounging by the ship's pool completely naked. The only way to get her to your cabin is to find her suitcase in the luggage hold.

* ImGoingToDisneyWorld: At the beginning of ''Love For Sail!'', when Larry ends up on a cactus:
-->'''Interviewer''': "Leisure Suit Larry! You've just leapt from the 40th floor of a burning building! What are you going to do next?"\\
'''Larry''': "I think I'm going to... take a cruise!"

* MaleGaze:
** This is played with in LSL 7, when Larry slowly tries to look down (twice) on Drew's breasts while they are talking but he fails as she tells him to look at her straight in the eyes. Humorously, there's an EasterEgg way to get your money's worth here. Larry simply has to plug his ears, and he won't hear her.
** One of the obstacles in the conversation minigame in ''Larry 8'' causes Larry's gaze to dip, reducing the player's chance at succeeding with the seduction.

machine.

* MumLooksLikeASister: Nailmi Jugg from ''Love For Sail'' looks hardly older than her daughter Wydoncha.

* OneDialogueTwoConversations: With Annette Boning in LSL 7. Annette wants to persuade Larry to kill her rich old husband, while Larry thinks that she just wants to have sex with him. The player can hear what they think, and so sees how they keep misinterpeting the other's words.
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: In-universe example. Wang in LSL 7 is very obviously Chinese, but since he grew up in Ireland, he has an Irish accent, which gets him strange looks... so he resorts to using YouNoTakeCandle, but unsuccessfully enough that Larry sees through it.

* PunnyName: Lots of them! Several from LSL 7 include nudist Drew Barringmore, (initially) prudish librarian Victorian Principles, and mother and daughter country music duo Wydoncha and Nailmi Jugg.

* {{Retreaux}}: LSL 7 brings back the TextParser used in the first three games for specific actions (BREAKING the glass door in the beginning, extra conversation pieces (some even required to keep the plot moving), and triggers for Easter eggs ([=MILKing=] the stuffed beaver).

** Larry keeps returning to his cabin from his endeavors in LSL 7 naked. And there's always someone to spot him.
* SceneryCensor: Particularly frequently seen in LSL 7. One of the best examples is the [[StripPoker strip dice]] game with Dewmi once she's down to her underwear. The game takes place at a glass table. The player anticipates to see Dewmi topless. Instead, she takes off her bottoms first. However, before she does that, she empties her shot glass and puts it back on the table in the only position where it completely obstructs her crotch.

* StripPoker: A variant of this is used in LSL 7, with Strip ''Dice''.

** You have to orchestrate one case in LSL 7. Replace the Victorian's book with a steamy sex novel, and she'll have a ''drastic'' change of personality and interests.

* VerbThis: Uttered frequently by the narrator in ''Love for Sail'' whenever you try an action in the wrong place.

* ShoutOut: Many. Most of these to other Sierra adventure games. For example, Princess Rosella from the ''VideoGame/KingsQuest'' series as a hairdresser in LSL 2.
** The InUniverse reason that there is no LSL 4 is that according to ''VideoGame/SpaceQuestIVRogerWilcoAndTheTimeRippers'', that game contains a virus written by Sludge Vohaul.
** Harriet in LSL 8 is a dead ringer for Michelle from ''Film/AmericanPie''. You can even get Larry to lampshade it during the conversation where he [[BreakingTheFourthWall yells at his agent]] with one of the incorrect dialogue choices.
-->'''Larry''': OK, we all saw ''American Pie''. Haha. [[WhoWritesThisCrap Let's get some fresh material.]]
** Since Larry is stuck in TheSeventies (and dressed appropriately), he partly dances at the club in LSL 1 like Creator/JohnTravolta in ''Film/SaturdayNightFever''. And [[ThatRussianSquatDance like a Cossack]], similarly to the ''Film/SaturdayNightFever'' parody in ''Film/{{Airplane}}''.
** In ''Reloaded'', one of the random doors you can knock on in the hotel has someone proclaim: "Never mind, [[Creator/AlysonHannigan Alyson]], just tell me again about that [[Film/AmericanPie one time in band camp]].."
** Also in ''Reloaded'', you can find pin-ups of [[VideoGame/SpaceQuest Beatrice Spankmeister]] and [[VideoGame/PoliceQuest "Sweet Cheeks" Marie]] in the back of Lefty's.
** Traveling to one of the new locations added in ''Reloaded'' has the Narrator explain that Larry has traveled through [[VideoGame/ColossalCave a maze of twisty little passages, all alike]].
** LSL 9 has a TON of movie and TV show references (not surprising since it takes place in a movie studio) way too many to list individually as you can see [[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1174039/movieconnections?ref_=ttgf_ql_6 here]]
** The "brain-exchanging machine" in LSL 8 is an [[Film/ThisIslandEarth interocitor]].
** The song "Cell Block Love" featured in LSL 6, is all about [[VideoGame/PoliceQuest Sonny and Marie Bonds' love life]].
** The Juggs' {{Leitmotif}} is a country rock version of [[VideoGame/FreddyPharkasFrontierPharmacist "The Ballad of Freddy Pharkas."]]
** Looking at the poodle skin in the ship's kitchen in LSL 7 will cause the narrator to exclaim "No! Not Fifi!", a possible reference to Archduke Fifi le Yipyap from ''[[VideoGame/KingsQuestVIIThePrincelessBride King's Quest VII]]''.

* AllMenArePerverts: To get past the pimp in the first game, you have to change the channel on his TV to a porn station. But then again, he ''is'' a pimp...

* BigApplesauce: Although Lost Wages seems like the run-down little brother of UsefulNotes/LasVegas otherwise, the only cabbie in town drives a clunky yellow Checker cab, and the pimp speaks with a Brooklyn accent.

* ContinueYourMissionDammit: In LSL 7, the HMS Bouncy's announcer will gradually goad you to do various things to keep the plot rolling, including entering the ship's lounge to start the contest, or entering Captain Thygh's cabin when you win said contest. Wait around long enough and he'll start yelling at Larry (and by extension, you) personally.

** While it takes some extra effort to accomplish, using the lotion bottle together with the resort pamphlet while on the toilet in the bathroom in Larry 6 results in Larry [[HaveANiceDeath literally dying of embarrassment]], as the entire cast of the game lines up outside the window to catch him in the act.

** And in the first game, if you try getting fresh with Faith, she responds, "Try it, and I'll blow your head off!" The next line: [[spoiler: She is referring to her use of the gun, Larry.]]
* DumbBlonde: Tawni, the blonde topless girl from [=LSL3=]. She makes out with a complete stranger (Larry) after he gifted her with his credit card. After she dumped him, Larry scammed her of her money by disguising as a native and selling her a fake carving. She failed to recognize him even though said disguise doesn't alter or cover Larry's face. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking On top of that, she forgot her towel when she left the beach]], which Larry claimed for himself.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The first game is rather different from the rest of the series: there's an overall time limit, you have a specific amount of money that you can spend on things and replenish by gambling (rather than just having a "money" item that is exactly enough for whatever you need to buy), the game world is divided into smaller areas that you can only get between by taxi (which costs money), and one of the women (the prostitute) is completely optional to interact with to beat the game. Later games play more like traditional adventure games, and every girl somehow brings you closer to the "final girl".
* EasterEgg: In LSL 7, when some specific non-compulsive actions are accomplished (such as "Milk the beaver"), the flashing image of an Easter Egg will appear on the corner of the screen and Larry will access some "sexy" extra scenes.

* {{Fanservice}}: Shows up in many of the games, but most blatantly in LSL 7, 8, and Reloaded.

* TheLawFirmOfPunPunAndWordplay: LSL 3 features the law firm "Dewey, Cheatem & Howe". He meets with Suzi Cheatem to file for divorce (and attempt to seduce her, [[UpToEleven adding another layer to the "cheat" pun]]).

* LovePotion: The pills from the first game and Reloaded. They are a strong aphrodisiac, which Larry gives to Faith (who thinks they are some kind of recreational drug). The pills work, and Faith becomes horny... [[spoiler:but they don't make her attracted to ''Larry''.]]
** In the first game, they cause Larry to become horny and indulge into bestiality, [[HaveANiceDeath getting a Game Over]].
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction[=/=]MinorInjuryOverreaction: In the opening of LSL 7, Larry leaps through a sliding glass door, embedding shards of broken glass in his flesh, then picks up a postcard and whines about getting a paper cut.

* MistakenForGay: In LSL 7, Larry ends up ... boning Mr. Boning to death, and fears he has fallen into this.

* PaperThinDisguise: Flat-out subverted in ''Leisure Suit Larry 2''. You need a perfect disguise at the beach to fool the KGB there. If not, they will mock you as they capture you ("Only in Russia do women wear leisure suits to the beach!", etc.). And even then, it doesn't work once you reach the airport -- [[spoiler: the guards there think you are a cross-dresser and let's just say that YOU ARE DEAD.]]

* RaceLift: In the 1991 remake of LSL 1, the prostitute and final girl Eve, who were originally White, have become Black. The shopkeeper, originally an Indian Sikh, became an Arab.
** ''Reloaded'' has the hooker become Russian, Eve is AmbiguouslyBrown, and the Come 'n' Go Clerk is returned to being Indian.

* SomethingElseAlsoRises: In LSL 3, when Bambi is doing sexual poses for her video, the microphone turns upward.
** At the nude pool in LSL 7, Larry wears a codpiece with an elephant's head on it. The first time he sees Drew, the trunk [[UpToEleven comes to life and makes a trumpeting noise]]. Then it does so again when she describes what it feels like to be stuck there without any clothes.

* StandardSnippet: LSL 1 uses both the William Tell Overture and the Funeral March in the same cutscene when Larry commits suicide after failing to lose his virginity before sunrise.

* ThemeNaming:
** All of the women in LSL 3 have names ending in "i" (Tawni, Cherri, Suzi, Bambi, Patti ... and even Bobbi, the woman Kalalau leaves Larry for at the beginning).
** The women in LSL 7 all have punny names based on Hollywood actresses: Drew Baringmore, Jamie Lee Coitus, Whydoncha Jugg...
** The male crew members [[spoiler: except Xqwzts, the cabin boy]] in LSL 7 are named after euphemisms for a part of the male anatomy: Peter, Johnson, Wang...
* TimedMission: In the first game you have until 5:00 AM to complete the game before Larry is DrivenToSuicide. And no, buying a condom and hiring the prostitute who is available from the beginning of the game will ''not'' remove the time limit; since Larry questions the validity of losing his virginity to a prostitute, it doesn't count. In ''Reloaded'', this time limit is removed, and you are now allowed to TakeYourTime.

* TongueOnTheFlagpole: In LSL 7, Larry can lick an ice statue and get his tongue stuck for a moment.

* TotemPoleTrench: LSL 1. Larry can meet a trenchcoat flasher on the sidewalk by the hotel. When you look at the flasher, the narrator comments that it's really a little person standing on the shoulders of another. They're both still flashers, though.
** In the remakes, you can actually see their silhouettes through the coat.

Finally, the game was remade and re-released in 2013 with the subtitle ''Reloaded''.

* WholesomeCrossdresser: In LSL 3, An encounter with Cherri may end up with Larry wearing her skimpy dancing costume. [[spoiler: If you visit Suzi Cheatem with this attire, it turns out that she has a crossdressing fetish (and she too is always seen in masculine garments) and ends up having sex with her. * SubliminalSeduction: In ''5'', des Rever Records is suspected of planting subliminal messages in their records to get customers to buy porn. This is confirmed when you listen to the golden record backwards.

* ApatheticCitizens: ''Everyone'' in ''Leisure Suit Larry 2''. They don't care if you are drugged, choking to death, drowning, or dying of bad food. In fact, they ALL WANT YOU TO DIE! Except for the hairstylists, that is. For instance, during the airport segment of the game, you find a suitcase with a ticking bomb in it and you decide to get it out of there before it kills everybody. You shout that you have a bomb and that everybody should get to safety, and they all ignore you. Even the guard seen in the way out (a local who knows just basic English) is informed of the bomb and replies "Have a nice day".

* TheCameo:
** [[VideoGame/KingsQuestIVThePerilsOfRosella Rosella]] appears as a hairdresser in LSL 2, who isn't too happy to find someone with blonder hair than her. She even takes the time out to plug ''King's Quest IV''.
*** And then at the end of LSL 3.
** [[VideoGame/TorinsPassage Torin and Boogle]] can be seen on the dock next to the HMS Bouncy during the opening credits of LSL 7. Later on, Torin reappears as a cameraman during one of the many attempts by Larry to get to his cabin without being seen naked.

** Another in Larry 2, in which you must pick the ''padlock'' holding an airplane door shut ([[ItMakesSenseInContext don't ask]]) and the narrator states that "You feel yourself being sucked." The next line? [[spoiler: "Out, unfortunately!"]]

* FanRemake: Someone made a point-and-click remake of LSL 2 for Windows, which you can find [[http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/356/ here]]. It has some musical changes, but as a whole feels like what you'd expect from VGA games, while being pixel-perfect to the original EGA version. Some puzzles get tricky without a parser, while the infamous barf bag and hair rejuvenator quirk is completely gone. It even fixes Polyester Patti by making her a brunette, though it still spells her name as Patty for some reason.

* TheMaze: Actually ''subverted'' in LSL 2. About halfway through, Larry has to cross a long, narrow, winding path above a tall cliff to reach the airport. In a game where practically everything else will kill you, it's literally impossible to fall off in this scene; instead, Larry narrowly avoids falling off, and you actually ''gain'' points. You lose the extra points once you finish crossing, though.

* MolotovCocktail: In LSL 2, you have to create one by combining a bottle of hair product with an air sickness bag as the "wick".
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: In LSL 2, Dr. Nonookee is such a character, of the James Bond spy flick EvilOverlord variety, completely PlayedForLaughs.

* RunningGag: Among others: "Don't all barber shops look alike?" and "But then, you find any kind of woman attractive" in LSL 2.

to:

* RunningGag: Among others: "Don't all barber shops look alike?" and "But then, you find any kind of woman attractive" in LSL 2.RunningGag:

* SpySpeak: Larry's MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels Spanish pickup lines accidentally complete the sign-countersign for a KGB agent to give him a {{m|acGuffin}}icrofilm in LSL 2.

* YouCantGetYeFlask: One of the most infamous cases in the series of an obvious action not being possible for no discernible reason is found in LSL 2. The player is supposed to make a bomb out of a hair lotion bottle and use an airsick bag as the wick. However, typing "bag" does not work; it has to be referred to as an ''"airsick bag"''. This was caused by a bug that was not caught in testing, as the bug was discovered only a very short time before the development deadline. A programmer had changed the word "bag" from a noun to a verb to fix an unrelated bug, and testing was done by inputting as complete a sentence as possible in the TextParser used. By using the definite article ''the'' in front of ''bag'', it was identified as a noun by the parser -- something most people didn't bother with normally.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: It's possible for Larry to start masturbating in LSL 6, although doing this will result in a death screen.
-->"Possessing absolutely no self-control, you refuse to stop before you go blind!"

* ArtisticLicenseCars: In LSL 6, Larry is escorted from the ''[[ShowWithinAShow Stallions]]'' set to La Costa Lotta in a taxi which Larry comments in awe how it's a "cherry '73 [[TheAllegedCar Pacer]]". The AMC Pacer was first introduced in 1975 and no Pacer with a 1973 model year exists. However, this could just be Larry not being very knowledgeable about cars.

* AssShove: In LSL 6, let's just say Larry doesn't know what a High Colonic Treatment is.

* BetweenMyLegs: The box art of ''Larry 1'' VGA remake, as seen above, depicts Larry smiling at the camera, framed by two legs in net stockings.

* {{Black Comedy Rape}}/RapeAsComedy: In Larry 6, [[spoiler: it's heavily implied that transvestite Shablee rapes Larry; after her UnsettlingGenderReveal, she walks towards Larry, the screen goes black, and there is a strange trumpet noise followed by Larry's pained/disgusted scream.]]
** One of the game over scenes in LSL 3 just might suggest that Patti is about to get [[BestialityIsDepraved violated by a boar]]. Of course, this is also a {{Double Entendre}} (see below). So maybe not.

** La Costa Lotta's gate guard in LSL 6 is named and modeled after Daryl F. Gates, who, at the time, recently took over the ''VideoGame/PoliceQuest'' series from original creator Jim Walls.

** Click the hand icon on the ashtray in the lobby LSL 6 and you will get a repeat of the Thunderbird video.

* GayOption: You can actually hook up with [[CampGay Gary]] the towel manager in LSL 6 but it will result in a NonstandardGameOver.

* MistakenForProfound: In LSL 6, Shamara takes basically everything Larry says or does as if it were infinitely deeper and more thoughtful than it actually is.

* OpeningTheFloodgates: This is one of the ways you can die in Leisure Suit Larry 6. "Next time, try entering the swimming pool from upstairs!"

** All of the women in LSL 6 are named after varieties of wine.

* UnsettlingGenderReveal:
** In LSL 6: Shape Up or Slip Out, [[spoiler: the dark-skinned makeup artist Shablee turns out to be a cross-dresser/transvestite (according to documentation/development notes), still sporting a sizable phallus.]] As Larry learns the truth only after some passionate kissing, his immediate after-the-reveal reaction is to recoil and start spitting and gagging. The next morning's shot shows him in his room rinsing furiously.
** In LSL Magna Cum Laude (aka, LSL 8), [[spoiler: Koko the troubled mime is a crossdressing boy.]]

* AccidentalHero: Larry in the second game. He ends up intercepting a packet of classified stolen documents from a Soviet spy, evading all their attempts to reclaim it, and ultimately destroying them... all without ever knowing that he ever had said documents, was being hunted, or had destroyed them. He was also intentionally trying to defeat Dr. Nonookee, but the method by which he did so makes it clear that most of the actions involved in the process were accidental.

* UsefulNotes/BillClinton: In LSL 7, there is a robotic stand-up comedian called Willy who looks like Bill Clinton and makes classic jokes where the characters are people related to the Clinton administration. You get points for sitting through the whole damn thing.

* BossButton: The first game had one which brought up a fake bar chart on command. However, upon closer inspection, the bar chart was not so innocent-looking (the bar labels were for different types of condoms), and when the player attempted to return to the game, they would have to restore from their last save, because, as the game puts it, "when you panic, I forget everything!"

* ChekhovsArmoury: Subverted in LSL 5: Patti gets shown several gadgets in the FBI lab at the beginning of the game, [[spoiler:but she only uses one: the bra cannon]].

* DecoyProtagonist: You play as Larry for the first half of LSL 3. After that, Patti becomes the player character to the end, even going as far as to change the game's title bar to "Passionate Patti".

* Ride/DisneyThemeParks: When Larry is venturing through the city in LSL 2, he will at one moment see a theme park far away. If you look at the scenery, you get the message:
--> '''Narrator''': "Hey! Is that Disneyland? Nah, not in an Al Lowe game!" (which is ironic as Al Lowe worked on many Disney games for Sierra).

* EroticEating: Eve, with an apple, at the end of ''Larry 1''.
--> "She's really turning you on! You had no idea fruit could be so exciting."
** Michelle Milkem eating a banana split in LSL 5. Complete with the remains of the banana split having a rather suspicious phallic shape...

* {{Foreshadowing}}: In LSL 6, Cavaricchi wears a tank top with "USMC" on it, but since the bottom half of the tank top is cut off, the upper parts of the letters look like "[[ButchLesbian HOMO]]". [[spoiler:Later you get involved in a threesome with her, but she ignores you and runs off with Burgundi.]]

* FrenchJerk: Jacques the croupier in LSL 7.
--> '''Jacques''' (thinking): "Hm, American asshole!"
* FullBoarAction: One of the obstacles Patti runs into while looking for Larry is a ferocious wild pig [[spoiler: which she must dispose off by throwing it a coconut-filled bra.]]
* FunWithAcronyms: C.A.N.E.: Conservatives Against Nearly Everything, in LSL 5.
* FunbagAirbag: In the opening of LSL 7, Larry, while trying to jump to safety from the penthouse, ends up bouncing back on the humongous bosom of an opera singer practicing on her balcony.

* {{Hammerspace}}: Lampshaded in LSL 2 with the GiganticGulp drink, which Larry muses for a moment as to how he's going to carry it, before shrugging and stuffing it into his pants. Also a case of HollywoodDensity, since 32 gallons of soda would weigh more than Larry does, and that's not counting the weight of the other things in his inventory, like $890,000 in hundred dollar bills. Not bad for an out of shape middle-aged programmer.

* JoeSentMe: The pimp in the first game won't let you into his room until you give him the password: "Ken sent me." The name is, of course, that of Ken Williams. "[[Creator/AlLowe Al]] sent me" is also accepted in the AGI version.
* {{Joisey}}: Jamie Lee Coitus in LSL 7 speaks this way.

* OptionalSexualEncounter: Having sex with the prostitute in LSL 1 is completely optional, but necessary if you want to [[HundredPercentCompletion get the maximum score]] - and just ''getting'' to the hooker's room is mandatory to get some of the items.
** Suzi Cheatem in LSL 3. You need to get your divorce papers from her, but whether the transaction is businesslike or erotic depends on [[spoiler:what you're wearing]]. (You'll have to take the sexual route if you want the maximum score.)
* OverlyLongGag: To name a few (both from LSL 2, the scene where Larry finds himself lost in a jungle (you go through this every time you come there)[[note]]Thankfully, there's a way to skip it. Just type "leave", and Larry will find a shortcut.[[/note]], and the seating scene:
-->"Why, Mr. and Mrs. Rich/Famous/Gates/Leach/Williams," says the Maitre d'. "What a pleasure to see you again. Of course I have a table for you!"\\
"Please, walk this way."\\
Well, that was certainly rude! You were here before them. You feel yourself becoming perturbed/annoyed/indignant/incensed/enraged!\\
"I hope you find this satisfactory, Sir," grovels the Maitre d' with his palm extended.

* PressXToDie: Typing "give onklunk" any time you have the onklunk in LSL 2, which means that the precious onklunk containing the secret info either ends in the hands of [[BigBad Doctor Nonooke]] or in those of KGB. You traitor!

* SoftGlass: Subverted in LSL 7: Larry has to crush through a glass window-door to escape from a fire and he gets a lot of bleeding cuts in the way. And it ''hurts''. Not to mention the "paper cuts"...

* SpannerInTheWorks: In LSL 2, so much. Of the unaware variety. Seriously, [[IdiotHero Larry]] ends up screwing Nonookee's plot without ever being aware of it, and to add insult to injury, kill him by accident.

* StealthPun: There are some cases, like when you make Larry talk to a bush in LSL 5, he will say:
--> '''Larry''': "Hi, is by any chance your name George?"

* TrashLanding: In LSL 1, Larry leaves a brothel by jumping out of the window and landing in a large dumpster, in which he finds a hammer which he needs later in the game.
* TrialAndErrorGameplay:
** The bamboo forest in ''Larry 3''. Similar to the desert in ''VideoGame/KingsQuestVAbsenceMakesTheHeartGoYonder'', it's a large area to explore, in which Patti will die of dehydration after a fixed amount of screens. It's also a lengthy maze, so if you don't know the layout, be ready to redo this segment many, many times until you've mapped out the exact path you have to take. The "Nontoonyt Tonight" magazine/manual that comes with the game ''does'' give you directions through the maze, but it's done in a way that is very easy to overlook. One of the many things in the book is a jingle advertising Nontoonyt Nectarines. If one were to look at it closely, they might notice that every word in the song begins with either N, S, W or E. So it tells you whether to go north, east, south or west and in what order, but lots of players will just dismiss it as a mildly amusing song at first glance and then forget about it.
%%* {{Trope 2000}}: The Cybersniff 2000 in LSL 7.

* ZillionDollarBill: In the second game you get a million dollar bill. Fortunately, there's a store in town that sells $100,000 (plus tax) speedos, and is able to give change in 100s.
