And both of these together cause the mob to get out of the porn business, but that doesn't mean much because they quickly find alternative ways to make money. At least she got a weekend with Larry at Camp David out of it.

In the early [[TheEighties Eighties]], an up-and-coming programmer named Chuck Benton decided to test his programming skills by churning out a small, [[InteractiveFiction text-based]] AdventureGame for the UsefulNotes/AppleII by the title of ''Softporn Adventure''. After the title received runaway success, it's publisher Creator/{{Sierra}} decided that since the game was the only text-based game they'd published, it was due for a graphical upgrade. Wait around long enough and he'll start yelling at Larry (and by extension, you) personally.

** While it takes some extra effort to accomplish, using the lotion bottle together with the resort pamphlet while on the toilet in the bathroom in Larry 6 results in Larry [[HaveANiceDeath literally dying of embarrassment]], as the entire cast of the game lines up outside the window to catch him in the act.

** And in the first game, if you try getting fresh with Faith, she responds, "Try it, and I'll blow your head off!" The next line: [[spoiler: She is referring to her use of the gun, Larry.]]
* DumbBlonde: Tawni, the blonde topless girl from [=LSL3=]. She makes out with a complete stranger (Larry) after he gifted her with his credit card. After she dumped him, Larry scammed her of her money by disguising as a native and selling her a fake carving. She failed to recognize him even though said disguise doesn't alter or cover Larry's face. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking On top of that, she forgot her towel when she left the beach]], which Larry claimed for himself.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The first game is rather different from the rest of the series: there's an overall time limit, you have a specific amount of money that you can spend on things and replenish by gambling (rather than just having a "money" item that is exactly enough for whatever you need to buy), the game world is divided into smaller areas that you can only get between by taxi (which costs money), and one of the women (the prostitute) is completely optional to interact with to beat the game. Later games play more like traditional adventure games, and every girl somehow brings you closer to the "final girl".
* EasterEgg: In LSL 7, when some specific non-compulsive actions are accomplished (such as "Milk the beaver"), the flashing image of an Easter Egg will appear on the corner of the screen and Larry will access some "sexy" extra scenes.

* RaceLift: In the 1991 remake of LSL 1, the prostitute and final girl Eve, who were originally White, have become Black. The shopkeeper, originally an Indian Sikh, became an Arab.
** ''Reloaded'' has the hooker become Russian, Eve is AmbiguouslyBrown, and the Come 'n' Go Clerk is returned to being Indian.

* ApatheticCitizens: ''Everyone'' in ''Leisure Suit Larry 2''. They don't care if you are drugged, choking to death, drowning, or dying of bad food. In fact, they ALL WANT YOU TO DIE! Except for the hairstylists, that is. For instance, during the airport segment of the game, you find a suitcase with a ticking bomb in it and you decide to get it out of there before it kills everybody. You shout that you have a bomb and that everybody should get to safety, and they all ignore you. Even the guard seen in the way out (a local who knows just basic English) is informed of the bomb and replies "Have a nice day".

** Another in Larry 2, in which you must pick the ''padlock'' holding an airplane door shut ([[ItMakesSenseInContext don't ask]]) and the narrator states that "You feel yourself being sucked." The next line? [[spoiler: "Out, unfortunately!"]]

* FanRemake: Someone made a point-and-click remake of LSL 2 for Windows, which you can find [[http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/356/ here]]. It has some musical changes, but as a whole feels like what you'd expect from VGA games, while being pixel-perfect to the original EGA version. Some puzzles get tricky without a parser, while the infamous barf bag and hair rejuvenator quirk is completely gone. It even fixes Polyester Patti by making her a brunette, though it still spells her name as Patty for some reason.

* TheMaze: Actually ''subverted'' in LSL 2. About halfway through, Larry has to cross a long, narrow, winding path above a tall cliff to reach the airport. In a game where practically everything else will kill you, it's literally impossible to fall off in this scene; instead, Larry narrowly avoids falling off, and you actually ''gain'' points. You lose the extra points once you finish crossing, though.

* MolotovCocktail: In LSL 2, you have to create one by combining a bottle of hair product with an air sickness bag as the "wick".
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: In LSL 2, Dr. Nonookee is such a character, of the James Bond spy flick EvilOverlord variety, completely PlayedForLaughs.

* RunningGag: Among others: "Don't all barber shops look alike?" and "But then, you find any kind of woman attractive" in LSL 2.

* SpySpeak: Larry's MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels Spanish pickup lines accidentally complete the sign-countersign for a KGB agent to give him a {{m|acGuffin}}icrofilm in LSL 2.

* YouCantGetYeFlask: One of the most infamous cases in the series of an obvious action not being possible for no discernible reason is found in LSL 2. The player is supposed to make a bomb out of a hair lotion bottle and use an airsick bag as the wick. However, typing "bag" does not work; it has to be referred to as an ''"airsick bag"''. This was caused by a bug that was not caught in testing, as the bug was discovered only a very short time before the development deadline. A programmer had changed the word "bag" from a noun to a verb to fix an unrelated bug, and testing was done by inputting as complete a sentence as possible in the TextParser used. By using the definite article ''the'' in front of ''bag'', it was identified as a noun by the parser -- something most people didn't bother with normally.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: It's possible for Larry to start masturbating in LSL 6, although doing this will result in a death screen.

The AMC Pacer was first introduced in 1975 and no Pacer with a 1973 model year exists. However, this could just be Larry not being very knowledgeable about cars.

* AssShove: In LSL 6, let's just say Larry doesn't know what a High Colonic Treatment is.

* BetweenMyLegs: The box art of ''Larry 1'' VGA remake, as seen above, depicts Larry smiling at the camera, framed by two legs in net stockings.

* {{Black Comedy Rape}}/RapeAsComedy: In Larry 6, [[spoiler: it's heavily implied that transvestite Shablee rapes Larry; after her UnsettlingGenderReveal, she walks towards Larry, the screen goes black, and there is a strange trumpet noise followed by Larry's pained/disgusted scream.]]

* GayOption: You can actually hook up with [[CampGay Gary]] the towel manager in LSL 6 but it will result in a NonstandardGameOver.

* MistakenForProfound: In LSL 6, Shamara takes basically everything Larry says or does as if it were infinitely deeper and more thoughtful than it actually is.

* OpeningTheFloodgates: This is one of the ways you can die in Leisure Suit Larry 6. "Next time, try entering the swimming pool from upstairs!"

** All of the women in LSL 6 are named after varieties of wine.

* UnsettlingGenderReveal:
** In LSL 6: Shape Up or Slip Out, [[spoiler: the dark-skinned makeup artist Shablee turns out to be a cross-dresser/transvestite (according to documentation/development notes), still sporting a sizable phallus.]] As Larry learns the truth only after some passionate kissing, his immediate after-the-reveal reaction is to recoil and start spitting and gagging. The next morning's shot shows him in his room rinsing furiously.
** In LSL Magna Cum Laude (aka, LSL 8), [[spoiler: Koko the troubled mime is a crossdressing boy.]]

* AccidentalHero: Larry in the second game. He ends up intercepting a packet of classified stolen documents from a Soviet spy, evading all their attempts to reclaim it, and ultimately destroying them... all without ever knowing that he ever had said documents, was being hunted, or had destroyed them. He was also intentionally trying to defeat Dr. Nonookee, but the method by which he did so makes it clear that most of the actions involved in the process were accidental.

* UsefulNotes/BillClinton: In LSL 7, there is a robotic stand-up comedian called Willy who looks like Bill Clinton and makes classic jokes where the characters are people related to the Clinton administration. You get points for sitting through the whole damn thing.

* BossButton: The first game had one which brought up a fake bar chart on command. However, upon closer inspection, the bar chart was not so innocent-looking (the bar labels were for different types of condoms), and when the player attempted to return to the game, they would have to restore from their last save, because, as the game puts it, "when you panic, I forget everything!"

* ChekhovsArmoury: Subverted in LSL 5: Patti gets shown several gadgets in the FBI lab at the beginning of the game, [[spoiler:but she only uses one: the bra cannon]].

* DecoyProtagonist: You play as Larry for the first half of LSL 3. After that, Patti becomes the player character to the end, even going as far as to change the game's title bar to "Passionate Patti".

* Ride/DisneyThemeParks: When Larry is venturing through the city in LSL 2, he will at one moment see a theme park far away. If you look at the scenery, you get the message:

Similar to the desert in ''VideoGame/KingsQuestVAbsenceMakesTheHeartGoYonder'', it's a large area to explore, in which Patti will die of dehydration after a fixed amount of screens. It's also a lengthy maze, so if you don't know the layout, be ready to redo this segment many, many times until you've mapped out the exact path you have to take. The "Nontoonyt Tonight" magazine/manual that comes with the game ''does'' give you directions through the maze, but it's done in a way that is very easy to overlook. One of the many things in the book is a jingle advertising Nontoonyt Nectarines. If one were to look at it closely, they might notice that every word in the song begins with either N, S, W or E. So it tells you whether to go north, east, south or west and in what order, but lots of players will just dismiss it as a mildly amusing song at first glance and then forget about it.
