* BonusDungeon:
** The demo has one. It can be accessed by [[spoiler:moving Punch Tanaka's pile of crashed motocycles using the Low-Level Goon form]] in the Wilted Lands. It is [[SurpriseCreepy strikingly different in tone than the rest of the game]], containing a creepy, claustrophobic environment that shifts to trap you inside and features creepy, hand-like rock formations. At the end lies [[SnakesAreSinister Slither]], a very difficult BonusBoss.
** The mine in the Giant Garden may also count, though Jimmy is clearly incapable of fully exploring it in the demo. It's less overtly creepy, but monsters are shrouded in darkness until the second turn of battle, and there are ominous spiderwebs in the deeper sections.
* ByTheLightsOfTheirEyes: In dark areas, monsters are obscured on the first turn of battle -- except for their eyes.

Added DiffLines:

* MetalSlime: Rad Ghosts, encountered in the Wilted Lands. They're worth 200 experience, but they only take three actions: nullifying all damage for the turn, inflicting a status effect that prevents someone from gaining experience, and running away. They're also incorporeal, making them resistant to most attacks. Defeating one requires careful use of Buck's stunning ability and the Happy Little Sunflower's light spell.

Added DiffLines:

* SnakesAreSinister: This probably has something to do with why the boss of the SurpriseCreepy BonusDungeon is a giant snake.

Added DiffLines:

* SurpriseCreepy: Both {{Bonus Dungeon}}s in the demo are much creepier than the cheerful, comedic tone of the main game -- they're dark caves that limit your field of vision, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere, and one of them ends in a [[SnakesAreSinister sinister]] BonusBoss. According to the developer, this is very intentional: in the full game, horror elements will be mostly confined to optional areas.

Civilized Animal refers to humanlike animals who still act like animals (foraging for food, avoiding predation etc.). Always Accurate Attack also doesn't count for this use, I believe, since it's specifically for exceptions.

* JerkJock: Jimmy's older brother Buck. He's rude and domineering towards Jimmy, and kills Information Guy for being too wordy. His skillset is even labeled "Nerd Bash"!
* TheMedic: The Happy Little Sunflower's skillset is comprised mainly of healing abilities. Its one offensive skill is [[LightEmUp an anti-undead light spell]].
* NeverSayDie: Averted. Despite the childish aesthetic, there is frequent mention of death, alcohol, and drugs. Information Guy is even bloodily killed in the Wilted Lands!
* NoSell: Helga's optimism gives her immunity to most StandardStatusEffects.
* RandomEncounters: Though they can be avoided if your level is high enough.
* {{Retraux}}: The graphics have a grainier and more retro style than most RPG Maker VX games, the aesthetic is very obviously ''VideoGame/{{Earthbound}}''-inspired, and the world map uses the same style as ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger''.

** Information Guy being the ButtMonkey, [[TheyKilledKennyAgain which often involves him getting killed horribly]].
