Game is canceled, reworked summary to reflect. Updated with the title of the reworked new game

[[http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/ Infinity: The Quest for Earth]] is an upcoming indie MMORPG set 10,000 years in the future. Players pilot their ships, blow things up, make money, and so on. The story is driven by a disease that mankind is afflicted of that makes almost everyone infertile, which means involuntary - and dangerous for the human race - PopulationControl. Legends say the lost planet of origins may contain a cure.

Perhaps its two most important features, it will have a fully accessible milky way (between 200 and 400 billion stars); not only that, every star, planet, moon, asteroid and ship will be to scale. This means you can land on a planet, then go to its moon without any loading screen, and they will all be as massive as the Earth and its moon is.

To accomplish this, the universe is [[RandomlyGeneratedLevels procedurally generated]]. This means that instead of actually storing data on hundreds of billions of stars, planets, and other objects, the galaxy is generated by a complex algorithm: you input a seed, it outputs whatever the game needs to generate (a system, a planet...). All terrain is similarly generated.

The game was canceled after [[VaporWare years in limbo]], and its engine will be put to use in a much more reasonably sized space combat game, set inside a single solar system.

* YouFailPhysicsForever: Both averted in its most blatant aspects and played straight in more subtle ways. For example, while there is no SpaceFriction, there is no time or space dilatation when travelling at speeds approaching the speed of light, which contradicts relativity. In all fairness, [[ScienceMarchesOn doing anything involving time manipulation in a multiplayer game is quite impossible until we invent time machines anyway.]]

The scale\'s been heavily changed, and no longer specifies \"FTL\" and \"Minovsky Particles/Physics\". Removing \"we don\'t know yet\" as that applies to ANYTHING that\'s up and coming. If it\'s wrong later on, FIX IT.

Ranks somewhere between "Minkovsky Particle" or "FTL Travel" on the MohsScaleOfScienceFictionHardness, as while it ignores most of the consequences of relativity (except for the fact that it gets harder and harder to accelerate when close to the speed of light), it follows classical physics (no SpaceFriction, there is inertia, etc.).

Note that the list of tropes here is only on the aspects of gameplay that are know presently; as a significant part of the game doesn't exist yet, the list is incomplete and possibly incorrect.

there is lengthy discussion why lasers and other traditional 'ray guns' should be omitted in forums. Hence can't be sure about their inclusion

*RayGun: These will definitely be available, probably in a realistic way.
