[[caption-width-right:350:Long and Ring (not pictured: five hundred mooks lining up for an asskicking)]]

''Hong Kong Ninja'' is an action flash game made by Miniclip.com, paying homage to old-school MartialArtsMovie(s) and arcade BeatEmUp games.

Hong Kong has been overrun by [[TheTriadsAndTheTongs the triads]], whose leader, Scorpion, had formed an alliance with a rogue ninja clan to enforce his rule across the city. Two heroes stood in his way - Long and Ring, the best of disciples in a martial arts academy, and they will take on Scorpion's minions, kicking ass across the whole of Hong Kong to take down Scorpion's enforcers, one at a time, before confronting Scorpion in his headquarters.
----
* AnimeChineseGirl: Ring (or at least, a video game equivalent) is more or less [[Franchise/StreetFighter Chun-Li]] without being referred to by name, complete with rapid kicks and executing a spinning tornado move in mid-air like her inspiration.
* {{BFG}}: The mercenary's preferred weapon during his fight. If Long or Ring managed to knock his weapon out of his hands and pick it, for some reason instead of firing it they'll use the gun as a bludgeoning weapon.
* BigBad: Scorpion, the crime lord of Hong Kong and leader of the triads. Who has ''lightning powers'', somehow.
* BilingualBonus: Ohh boy.
** While fighting a bunch of mooks on an overhead bridge at night with the neon-lit Hong Kong skyline in the background, one of the random buildings has a sign that says "It's Not Delicious if it isn't Spicy" (不辣不好吃).
** The OldMaster boss fight in a hall resembling old-timey Creator/ShawBrothers movies have a "Death Contract" (生死状) - something rather common in martial arts films, notably the Shaw's ''Film/MyRebelliousSon'' - hanging from the wall.
** Scorpion's headquarters is marked by the words, "Scorpion Finances Center" in it's lobby.
* BoozeFlamethrower: There's an EliteMook variety in the game who, besides hitting really hard, can occasionally whip out a flask of alcohol from their pockets, take a swig, and breath a stream of fire that does additional damage.
* BossTease: Scorpion shows up briefly as a portrait in his headquarters early in the final stage, before finally showing up in person in the very last area, more than ten minutes of gameplay later - the helipad.
* BruceLeeClone: Long is directly modelled after Bruce Lee, wearing a yellow jacket in all his fight scenes (a reference to the yellow tracksuit from ''Film/GameOfDeath'') exposing his abs, making FunnyBruceLeeNoises in between fights and striking a pose by rubbing his nose after defeating each boss.
* CrateExpectations: Like every good beat em' up, this one has crates that can be smashed to bits for power-ups and weapons.
* DarkActionGirl: The female triad enforcers and kunoichi mooks which Long and Ring will face constantly.
* DieChairDie: Not just chairs, but also tables, benches, metal drums, road signs, phone booths, cars, double-decker buses...
* DownInTheDumps: There's a stage in a junkyard full of scrap metal and destroyable objects for points, but it's also staffed by enemy mooks. And ninjas.
* EyepatchOfPower: Sported by the mercenary boss, to complete his "I'm in charge and a bigger threat than my underlings" look.
* FlunkyBoss: All the bosses are accompanied by legions of mooks.
* GrievousHarmWithABody: A good way to get out of a fix when cornered by mooks is to grab the nearest mook and fling him / her at the group. It works even on bosses!
* GunsAreWorthless: Bullets in this game does roughly the same damage as a stronger punch, and both Long and Ring can tank maybe fifteen bullets before going down.
* HyperactiveMetabolism: Long and Ring can boost their health by collecting food, including dimsum, noodles, Chinese tea, seafood, and best of all, a whole roast suckling pig restoring health to maximum.
* KickChick: Ring's melee attacks - 90% of them - are kicks. Rapid kicks, tornado kicks, crane kicks...
* MalevolentMaskedMen: Several of the ninja mooks wears menacing-looking kabuki masks. As does the ninja boss.
* MaskedLuchador: One of the wrestler-type enemies have luchador masks as their attire.
* {{Ninja}}: A recurring enemy type since the second level. There are also kunoichi mooks.
* {{Qipao}}: Female triad mooks are dressed in this attire.
* ShockAndAwe: Scorpion, the FinalBoss, can spam electric blasts as his primary attack and land thunderbolts all over the boss arena.
* ShoutOut: As this game is a homage to kung fu movies, the fight against the kung fu master boss is pretty much lifted from old-school Creator/ShawBrothers films, to the point where the boss area could be filmed in the old Shaw backlot if adapted to live-action form.
* SkunkStripe: Scorpion has two silver streaks in his hair.
* SlideAttack: Both Long and Ring has a special move that slides them from one corner of the area to another, knocking down mooks and even bosses in their way. A sliding punch for the former, while the latter uses a sliding kick.
* TerminatorImpersonator: The third boss is a cyborg whose appearance is directly lifted from Schwarzenegger's portrayal, with mechanical limbs, an exposed robot skull and a glowing red ''right'' eye.
* TheTriadsAndTheTongs: They serve as a recurring mook in the game. Very frequently, Long and Ring will be facing well-dressed thugs in suits armed with pistols, looking a lot like extras from a Creator/JohnWoo film.
* UseYourHead: Overweight mooks will try to knock down Long or Ring with a powerful headbutt.
* VillainInAWhiteSuit: Scorpion wears a sleek white suit as his default attire (matching his SkunkStripe) and he's the BigBad of the game as well as the insanely powerful FinalBoss.
