Each action (such as Helen using a weapon or a monster's attack) comes with a "Wait" timer that ticks down once both combatants have chosen their move. Combat involves carefully balancing cooldowns so that you defend when your opponent is attacking and attack when your opponent's guard is down.

* WouldNotHitAGirl: [[spoiler:Zack. When he returns to help, he claims that he did not give his all in the fight against her because he couldn't figure out whether she is evil or not and because beating a girl wouldn't be very hero-like]]hero-like]]
* BonusDungeon: [[spoiler: There's a small, optional dungeon that is open after Helen defeats Zack. Be sure to arrive '''[[CrazyPrepared fully prepared]]''' however, as the enemies, except a semi-invisible ghost enemy (the notes even make mention of this in the north-eastern library in this dungeon) who only has one attack that does a mere 10 points od damage, are '''very powerful''', and while Helen doesn't need to defeat all of them, she '''must''' defeat a total of seven of them without leaving, as it will reset the counter whenever she leaves the dungeon, thus having her start over again. The main boss monster is, unlike the rest of the monsters who were created artificially, a '''real monster''' named Ahriman, and as he shares Zack's exclusive battle bgm, he proves to '''not be taken lightly'''. He first phase starts as a "test" for Helen, but once past the "test phase", he fights more seriously, even having a moves that permanently halves Helen's HP for the rest of the fight, and as he reaches near-death HP levels, his Temporary Seal attacks get replaced with [[DesperationAttack Permanent Seal attacks]], so again, do '''not''' take on the dungeon unprepared.
