''God Wars Future Past'' is a video game released for the UsefulNotes/PS4 and UsefulNotes/PSVita in June 2017. It focuses on a group of adventurers who are looking for one of their members' mother. Said member, a princess named Kaguya, was originally intended to act as a VirginSacrifice in order to keep Mount Fuji from erupting, but was convinced not to. The basis for the game's story is Myth/JapaneseMythology.

* ArtShift: There are four -- count them, FOUR -- art styles used throughout the game. The in-game models are done in a chibi-style, while the cutscenes take one of three forms. The most common style is subtitles, with the characters striking a single pose and not moving anything but their faces. The second is a manga-style with speech balloons and limited sound effects. The third, and least common style, is fully-animated anime-style sequences.

* BlindingBangs: Prior to Kintaro rescuing her, Kaguya's eyes are hidden by her hair. Similarly, blink-and-you'll-miss-it but Kintaro's eyes are hidden when he's smitten by Kaguya's beauty.

The "God Wars Team" at Kadokawa Games (now Dragami Games, after a corporate split) would go on to release ''VideoGame/{{Relayer}}'', a mecha strategy game, in 2022. And while nothing concrete has been shown, a sequel to ''God Wars'' is one of the first projects stated to be in development by Dragami Games.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: Your party alone grows pretty big. You'll also meet many other people along your journey.

* ViewersAreGeniuses: LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters, a bunch of references to Japanese folklore that you won't get unless you're well-versed in it, a whole bunch of locations whose names you won't remember, and mind-bending tactical gameplay.

** It's possible that the term "god" is used in this universe as a catch-all term for "spirit" -- many of the gods you encounter are nowhere near omnipotent, or even particularly powerful (although many are).

The game is part turn-based-tactics, part RPG. Out of combat, you can assign roles to your characters and allocate points to those roles; in combat, up to six of them fight on a grid and move and act during their turn.
