* PermanentlyMissableContent: Once you enter the fourth dungeon, the White World, you can no longer finish the glowing paper sidequest, which changes the ending. Nothing telegraphs this at all (the [=NPCs=], though not the items, are even still there, they simply refuse to talk to you about it anymore). Also, once you beat the final boss, you can no longer do anything else in the game but finish it (prior to the boss you could still use the escape dungeon option, and in fact have to in order to turn in all of the Meowsterpieces). The game has no PlayableEpilogue, so you must be careful with your save slots.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: It being a manga-inspired game, the characters have these. Giraffe's hair is a shade of blue, Lily's hair is light purple, and the mother rabbit has pink hair.
** The ending swings this more into ElderlyBlueHairedLady territory, as the two characters with unusual hair colors with [[spoiler: real human counterparts, Giraffe and Lily, are both elderly (although their actual aged appearances show more realistically gray shades). The real Lily, Lisa, is even shown to have had a normal hair color when she was younger]].

* YouHaveResearchedBreathing: The three main powers you unlock are jumping, swimming, and sprinting. In the game's defense, the jumping is much higher and further than real life and allows [[JumpPhysics slight mid-air repositioning]], and the sprinting is fast enough to shatter boulders (at least in a cutscene).

* FridgeBrilliance: It may not be a surprise to see SailorFuku as an unlockable outfit in a Japanese game, but when [[spoiler: Grandma Lisa reveals in the ending that Annika's default outfit]] is what she wore as a child, and [[spoiler:Lily's dancing during every boss fight]] creates a connection between [[spoiler:Lisa]] and the dancer's dress, it's possible that all of the outfits, aside from the final, secret outfit, are based on things that [[spoiler:Lisa]] used to wear. SailorFuku have been getting phased out as uniforms, but in [[spoiler:Lisa]]'s time they would have still been common.

* DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist: Dying immediately brings you back to a spot generally close to where you died at with no other penalty. However, if you're going for the speedrun achievement, this lost time can still add up.

* MultipleEndings: If you beat the game normally, Annika will briefly see [[spoiler:a ghostly image of Giraffe along the side of the road]] before going to full screen credits. If you beat the game after completing the glowing paper quest and returning the ring to its owner (see PermanentlyMissableContent), Giraffe will be [[spoiler:completely solid in the ending and will not disappear as he heads home carrying his luggage]].

Didn't think the example came out right after all.

* AmbiguousEnding: While the ending is ''generally'' straightforward, the exact nature of a couple of key moments are left vague. [[spoiler:Was it all just Lisa's dream (since Annika doesn't remember anything)? Was it a shared dream that Annika just doesn't remember (since she admits she also slept unusually long)? Did you free Giraffe's spirit to finally allow him to rest (since Annika catches a glimpse of his ghostly form heading to Lisa's house)]]?
** In the good ending, Giraffe is [[spoiler:solid and doesn't disappear as he heads home with his luggage. Is he actually back? Lisa insisted he wasn't dead and the lifeboats were never found. If the dream was more than a dream and the Star Fragment Pendant really has magic, could magic have also explained his disappearance? The Mysterious Spica Island book implies the island has some strange legends even in the real world]].

* ChekhovsGun: One of the first things you can find is [[spoiler:a newspaper article about a ferry lost off the coast of the island]]. You can find another couple of references to [[spoiler:the ferry]] that also don't impact the main quest, but it's not until the end of the game that you find out that it's essentially what the game has really been about the entire time. The ending even has a secondary element to this when it shows that the [[spoiler:theoretical bridge mentioned in the article was eventually built]].

* FantasyKeepsake: [[spoiler:Grandma Lisa]] gives Annika a bag that contains the [[spoiler:Star Fragment Pendant in the real world]]. This ends up being more of a twist than usual, because up until that point it was implied that [[spoiler:the Star Fragment Pendant was simply based on the collar worn by the cat that Annika was conflated with in the dream world]]. If you look closely, the orb is not part of the cat's collar in the ending.
