* StopHelpingMe: A recently added, non-optional tutorial is very much a case of this. The tutorial locks out ''all'' functions that haven't been introduced yet, however obvious, important, or innocuous. Further, it interrupts what was originally smooth narrative, and when it was first introduced, the locked targeting mode function defaulting to 'Friendly' meant that the combat section of the tutorial was actually impossible to complete with a gamepad.

A {{PS3}} version, originally scheduled for a March 2011 release and initially put on indefinite hold, will now enter beta testing in November and is scheduled to be released alongside the ''version 2.0'' client in February 2013. The initial delay in releases between systems led to the PC release being somewhat jokingly ([[EightPointEight or]] [[InternetBackdraft not]]) referred to as a beta for the PS3 release. An Xbox 360 version was also in development, but has been "paused" according to WordOfGod due to some issues with Xbox Live and Microsoft. A Playstation Vita version may be considered in the future, as well as smart phone applications that could be used to access the player's inventory, for example.

Oh, I\'m glad you saw that OJ .. and, thanks, that change to Cut And Paste Environments is much better. Anyway, just changing the wording a bit for the better.. in part as an excuse to say: Can anyone think of a good trope to associate with The Path of the Twelve? I\'ve tried to to find an appropriate trope for the strange and persecuted coming together.. but the only one comes to mind is Hidden Elf Village, and that doesn\'t fit because the Path is neither all too terribly well hidden nor do they avoid involving themselves in outside events.

This is, of course, not time travel, but the actions of a person with the gift inside an echo'd memory will permanently alter the memories of the person the Echo is used on.

* CutAndPasteEnvironments: While the re-using of environmental assets is fairly common among MMORPG's, Final Fantasy XIV's huge, high-definition, constantly multiple elevation environments demanded this be taken a little further, supposedly in order to accommodate certain limitations of the PS3 beside the original intention to have massive, seamless zones. Primary textures and landscape models are repeated, with additional variation achieved through creatively differing rotations and angles and through new combinations and adjustments, as well as through the usual re-texturing, and differing selections of flora and objects.
** With the rebuild for version 2.0, the opposite strategy has been announced - in order to accommodate much more varied environments beside the supposed limitations of the PS3, the massive, seamless environments will be divided - in most cases into three or four unique parts.
** It's also worth noting that the environments are not as lacking in landmarks and distinction as many like to point out, and different areas of single zones can be very distinct from one another. For instance, Western Thanalan has a large number of deep, somewhat swampy basins seen nowhere else, and similarly, the North-eastern Black Shroud features massive, seemingly bottomless chasms with spits of rock held up by the enormous trees and their roots.

This is somewhat less so for other places in Hydaelyn, however. The Garlean Empire, for instance, sees all races who have anything to do with the Primals as being in need of purging. This generally just means the Beast Tribes. However, as those gifted with the Echo are in some way connected with the Primals, the Empire seemingly lumps all Walkers of the Path (and thus, the player) in with the Beast Tribes on the purge schedule.

** The game is also a little sneaky about its use. Prior to the Echo being explained when the player character is invited to join the Path of the Twelve, the Echo receives very little suggestion. As its use is preceded only by a soft 'whoosh' noise and a very subtle screen effect, often with no change in location whatsoever, it is only in retrospect that many players will realise certain events early in the story were actually their experiencing NPCs' memories.

''Final Fantasy XIV'' is the fourteenth game in the [[TheSimpsons groin-grabbingly]] [[RunningGag popular]] ''FinalFantasy'' series. It is an {{MMORPG}}, similar to ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXI'', and timed exclusively to the PC. There is both a standard and a [[LimitedSpecialCollectorsUltimateEdition Collector's Edition]], whose buyers were able to start the game 8 days early, get one month of free service, [[{{Feelies}} two exclusive items, a themed journal, and some other bells and whistles]]. The {{PS3}} version, originally scheduled for a March 2011, has been indefinitely delayed until such time as the game has 'reached the level of enjoyability and service befitting the ''Final Fantasy'' name'. The delay in releases between systems has led to the PC release being somewhat jokingly ([[EightPointEight or]] [[InternetBackdraft not]]) referred to as a beta for the PS3 release. A 360 version was also in development, but has been "paused" according to WordOfGod due to some issues with Xbox Live and Microsoft.

Microsoft. A Playstation Vita version may be considered in the future, as well as smart phone applications that could be usd to access the player's inventory, for example.

This game continues a tradition from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyV'' and ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyTactics'' of having a character level separate from interchangeable job ranks. This means that, unlike ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXI'' or pretty much any other MMORPG, you can switch between any job you want on the same character, but still keep that character's level no matter what rank your job is. In turn, each job or "Discipline" Rank has a cap on any given stat. The downside is that that means you only have one stat set that [[strike:can only be reset from the last 10%]] take several hours to reset between all the Disciplines.

* BattleThemeMusic: Where to even begin. There are six regular battle themes, one for each major area and one for dungeons. Then, there are at least three different boss battle themes, four different guildleve themes and the behest theme, not to mention the new instanced dungeon theme, making a grand total of 15 battle themes. And this is not even counting "Primal Judgment", which screams "Primal Battle Theme", and two songs found on the alpha rip that are likely a regular battle theme for an area not yet in-game and the Final Boss theme.

A 360 version was also in development, but has been "paused" according to WordOfGod due to some issues with Xbox Live and Microsoft.

The game is set in a region called Eorzea, on the planet Hydaelyn. Eorzea is a bit more "high-tech" than Vana'diel was, with airships akin to ''FinalFantasyXII'', a wider arrays of guns, and with an actual system of roads. Eorzea itself is a sort of frontier, being implicitly a great deal less developed and 'tamed' than surrounding Aldenard, although the various cities have existed for at least centuries. Before the start of the game, the steam-punk Garlean Empire had set to conquer the city-states of Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, Gridania, Ishgard, and Ala Mhigo. Ala Mhigo was razed by them, but soon after the Garleans retreated, forcing the remaining city-states to militarize and band together in an uneasy peace.
