* FatBastard: Gunbull, the first boss of the game, is obese and villainous.

* HitboxDissonance: Several objects have hitboxes that are larger than you would expect, creating unusual side effects:
** Enemy hitboxes are 24 units (or 24 texture pixels, as all walls and enemies have the same pixel scale) wide, making the game fairly generous when it comes to your shots hitting.
** The player uses the same 24x24 hitbox, making avoiding some projectiles tricky, and sometimes even feeling unfair.
** Pickups have a 32x32 hitbox, filling the entire space of the tile each one is found on. It is sometimes possible to pick up an item through a diagonal wall placement due to the game's wall collision handling.
** The LaserHallway traps have a 32x32 hitbox, even though each laser wall appears to be thin, making traversal of the laser hallways in question extremely finnicky.

* InterchangeableAntimatterKeys: Unlocking doors uses up collected keys. Their interchangeability comes into play in stage 2–2, where you can choose to open the door leading straight to the LevelGoal or to a room containing an assault rifle and another key.

** Later, you'll encounter large soldiers, referred to internally as "swordar". They have the same design as the Shield Bearing Mooks, only without the shield. While they can't block your attacks, they're just as tough, and like the Jacks, they walk toward you between attacks, only twice as fast.

* GiantMook: Bruisers are enemies that appear as big, shirtless, unarmed guys. They have 6 hit points, and their melee attack is twice as strong as that of the Thornies.

* PsychoPink: One enemy type (referred to internally as "valkiria") is a girl with a pink helmet and boots, a LittleBlackDress, and two knives that she'll stab you with if you let her get close enough. Compared to Thornies, they're a bit tougher, do slightly more damage with each attack, and are twice as fast, making them a decent threat.

* ShieldBearingMook: One enemy type is a soldier who stands in one place holding a shield that blocks all of your attacks. They are vulnerable only when firing, which they delay if you keep shooting at them.

8Bit KillerThere's no hyphen in the title. is a Games FirstPersonShooter created by Locomalito and released in 2008. Set in the middle of 22nd century, the game puts you in the role of a soldier working with LaResistance fighting against Master Brain, an alien who came to Earth supposedly promising a new dawn after mankind's own long and destructive war, but actually raising an army to destroy the last few cities remaining on Earth.

As you might guess from the title, the game features an Retraux 8-bit aesthetic, with entities appearing as 2D sprites in a 3D world constructed from flat textures, similar to games like VideoGame/Wolfenstein3D, with similarly NES sound effects and a chiptune soundtrack created by [=RushJet1=]. Progression is mostly linear, with 4 chapters each consisting of one straightforward stage, a second more labyrinthine stage where you have to look for keys to progress through locked doors into a third stage, where you fight a boss of the chapter. All the while, you find progressively stronger weapons and extensions to your LifeMeter and ammo capacity.

Locomalito would later on create VideoGame/LAbbayeDesMorts, VideoGame/Hydorah and VideoGame/MalditaCastilla, games that are similarly inspired directly by games from 80s and early 90s.

* GhostCity: For most of the game you travel through a city that has been abandoned save for Master Brain's occupying army.
* TheGoomba: The first enemies you meet are Thornies who have only 2 hitpoints and can only march slowly towards you.
* HeartContainer: Throughout the game you can find medkits which extend your life capacity by 10 points each and restore all your hitpoints while at it. Ammo containers likewise extend your ammo capacity.
* HornsOfVillainy: Every enemy wears some sort of helmet with horns protruding from the sides.
* InterchangeableAntimatterKeys: Unlocking doors uses up keys you collect. Their interchangeability comes into play in stage 2-2, where one key you get can open either a way to a LevelGoal or to a room with an assault rifle and another key.
* LaserHallway: Inside Mega Tower are corridors where lasers regurarily shoot out of walls, hurting you if you step into them.
* LevelGoal: You end each level by pulling a lever on a large black machine, apparently a comm station.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: In his dying speech, Kingdar realizes he was just a puppet for Master Brain and implores you to destroy it once and for all.
* OneManArmy: By the end of the game you may rack up a body count of over 450 as only one person.
* Retraux: 32*32 sprites with limited palette and 8-bit sounds.
* ShieldBearingMook: One enemy type is a soldier who stands in one place holding a shield that nullifies all your attacks. They can be hurt only a moment after they shoot, which they will delay if you keep shooting them.
* ShortRangeShotgun: The shotgun you get spreads its bullets a little bit too thin, but if you can get close to target you can deal 4 points of damage with only 3 bullets.
* ASinisterClue: All enemies carry firearms left-handed.
* SniperRifle: The fifth weapon you get is a sniper rifle which doesn't offer a scope but does offer a quick rate of fire and 3 points of damage with each shot for only 2 bullets.
* SortingAlgorithmOfWeaponEffectiveness: You start with a handgun with an unimpressive rate of fire, then you find a rifle with a faster rate of fire, a ShortRangeShotgun that shoots more bullets than it costs, an assault rifle with an impressive rate of fire, a SniperRifle that deals 3 points of damage for only 2 bullets (all others deal 1 point per bullet) and finally a BFG rocket launcher which costs only 5 bullets to take a half of EliteMook's life in one shot.
* SpiderTank: Among the enemies are crab-like robots that walk back and forth a given line, shooting you when they see you.
* TeleportingKeycardSquad: Whenever you pick up a key or even a weapon, expect reinforcements in areas you've already cleared of enemies.
* TinTyrant: Kingdar is a leader of Master Brain's army who wears a golden armour complete with a red cape.
* UniversalAmmunition: Except for the starting pistol, all weapons in your arsenal accept the same kind of ammunition. The difference is in the amount of bullets they take with each shot.
* VideoGameSetpiece: In town hall, once you pick up a key, two brutes will jump in through the windows on your way to the exit, leaving broken glass behind.
* XenomorphXerox: Wastelord bears a large mouth full of teeth right under a smooth forehead without eyes or anything resembling a face, giving it a similarity to xenomorph.
