--> "It was supposed to be an average cargo run. Of all the islands we supply, none of them had an active volcano, that's for sure. But when all our instruments went dead the plume of smoke on the horizon was all we had to go on, That bloody storm came out of nowhere. Not a cloud in the sky one minute and the next? Pandemonium. The sea screeched like a thousand nails dragged across a chalkboard. Before I knew it, my whole world was turned upside down."

You'll be shooting a lot of these airborne enemies throughout the game after that.

Set in the 1930s, the player(s) assume the role of a soldier escorting a cargo ship across the Atlantic during the first World War. But after the ship is caught in a freak storm and washed on an uninhabited island with only the player character surviving, the player finds out said island is home to various dinosaurs which somehow escaped extinction. Armed with his trusty pistol, the player can scavenge firearms and supplies littered all over the island from previous wrecks as he shoots his way through multiple stages.

* RaptorAttack: Velociraptors are the first and most recurring enemy in the island, attacking you as soon as you land on the beach and coming in ''droves'' in the later levels. Being TheGoomba, they're not very tough and are dangerous only when they attempt to overwhelm you through numbers.
* StockDinosaurs: Yeah, with raptors and pterosaurs as recurring enemies and a T-Rex as the FinalBoss. Not really original.
* SuperPersistentPredator: The T-Rex FinalBoss in the ruins really, ''really'' enjoy eating humans, relentlessly going after you even as you empty one grenade after another down it's throat. You'll need to fight this boss thrice during the second half of the game, and it still tries coming at you as it's stranded in a shallow canal of the ruins until the volcanic explosion fills the canal with lava, finally killing it.

* ChekhovsVolcano: The entire plot of the game hinges on your character crashing on a dinosaur-inhabited island with an active volcanoe about to go off with enough force to destroy most of the place. Besides fending off hostile dinosaurs, you're tasked with finding an escape from said island before the volcano goes off, which it did in the final stage.

''Dino Strike'' is a LightGunGame created for the UsefulNotes/{{Wii}}, and a close SpiritualSuccessor to ''VideoGame/JurassicParkArcade'', being a dinosaur-themed shooter with you shooting hostile dinosaurs the entire game.

Not to be confused with the flash game, ''VideoGame/DinoStrike''.
----
!! ''Dino Strike'' contain examples of:
* AbandonedCampRuins: Every now and then, you come across empty camps belonging to previous adventurers, explorers, and unfortunate sailors who crashed aboard the island, only to fall foul to the dinosaur population. You can collect plenty of leftover supplies as you progress.
* AirborneMooks: {{Ptero Soarer}}s are another recurring hostile dinosaur you can encounter, firstly in the third stage as you locate the boat Anna told you about, and as you fled downstream a whole flock of pterosaurs swoops over to attack. You'll be shooting a lot of these airborne enemies throughout the game after that.
* AttackTheMouth: The T-Rex boss can only be damaged by firing grenades into the mouth. All other firearms does ScratchDamage on it.
* AwesomeButImpractical: The crossbow grenade deals ''massive'' damage on targets.. assuming it can "actually" hit anything. It's a PowerUpLetdown if you're facing raptors, pterosaurs or dilophosauruses because it's slow firing rate and tendency for fired projectiles to skew too much to the left or right, missing fast-moving dinosaur foes and getting yourself injured in the process. You're better off using the Winchester, Garand or Tommy-Gun for dinosaur packs and save the grenades for ankylosaur encounters.
* AMoltenDateWithDeath: The FinalBoss, the T-Rex, who tries pursuing you as you're on your way out of the ruins. Just then, the long-awaited volcano eruption finally happens, causing a stream of lava to flow through the lower canal where the T-Rex is trapped in, effectively drowning it in molten rocks.
* CoolGuns: Due to the game's setting in the 1930s, you can collect a Thompson Machine Gun to mow down hostile dinos.
* CrateExpectations: The island is filled with leftover crates from the previous, failed expeditions, where shooting them will yield new weapons, health, ammo and various goodies.
* GiantMook: The ankylosaurus enemies, gigantic, slow-moving dinosaurs which can soak loads and loads of bullets before dying, unless you're using the grenade crossbow. Beware their TailSlap!
* GrenadeLauncher: The grenade crossbow you can obtain halfway through, useful for hitting the slow-moving ankylosauruses. It's also the only weapon that can slow down the T-Rex in the ruins.
* LivingDinosaurs: The entirety of the game have you assuming the role of a soldier in the 1930s getting stranded on an island where dinosaurs have not gone extinct yet, and must shoot your way out to survive.
* MissionControl: Your liaision, Anna, which you made contact with shortly after crashing on the island and picking up a radio. She will direct you across the island and occasionally provide hints during gameplay.
* RaptorAttack: Velociraptors are the first and most recurring enemy in the island, attacking you as soon as you land on the beach and coming in ''droves'' in the later levels. Being TheGoomba, they're not very tough and are dangerous only when they attempt to overwhelm you through numbers.
