* MooksButNoBosses: You spend the game gunning down legions of Breed soldiers, aircraft, turrets and the like, but there's nary a boss in sight. Even the Breed leader in the mothership is just an EliteMook version of the regular Breeds who doesn't put up much of a fight.

But not all hope is lost for humanity. Aboard the space station USC ''Darwin'', the '''grunt'' project - a program to create genetically enhanced human soldiers - is finally online. And in the last days of the Colony Wars, a platoon of grunts makes one last strike against the Breed to end the invasion.

''VideoGame/{{Battlefield}}'' meets ''VideoGame/StarWarsRepublicCommando''.

''Breed'' is a squad-based FirstPersonShooter made by Brat Designs in 2004.

In the distant future of 2600, humans have left Earth to colonialize surrounding planets, with various human settlements in the nearby Besalius binary star system. But an antagonistic alien race called the "'''[[AntagonistTitle Breed]]'''" unexpectedly attacks the human colonies, with intentions of taking over the entire star system, as distress signals were sent to the human headquarters on Earth.
The invasion lasts over two decades, as humans and Breeds fought each other in a series of battles later recorded in history books as the "Colony Wars"; near the tail-end of the war, by the year 2625, humans are near the brink of defeat.

Not to be confused with ''VideoGame/AlienBreed''. Well, they both involve SpaceMarines fighting alien invaders, but that's pretty much it.

!! In 0700 hours, permission for assault given...
* AerialCanyonChase: One of the aerial levels have you piloting a fighter ship through a canyon to infiltrate one of the Breed's bases, and dogfighting against Breed aircraft along the way. There are turrets on the valley's sides to complicate things even further.
* AirborneMooks: In outdoor levels, you might get assaulted by flying Breed aircraft.
* AliensAreBastards: No reasons are given to why the Breed are invading and enslaving mankind, other than "of course". In fact it's implied humans ''aren't'' the first civilizations they have wiped out in the past.
* AlienBlood: Breed soldiers bleeds blue or green when shot.
* AlienInvasion: The Breed invasion which occurs in the backstroy, and the entire game have you fighting to reclaim earth.
* AntagonistTitle: The Breed are a hostile alien race that wants to invade and conquer all planets.
* AntiAir: All aerial missions where you're piloting aircrafts or riding on the side of marine choppers have the Breed sending out sky-based turrets firing at you, but you usually make quick work of them thanks to the gatling cannon or missile launchers.
* ArtificialHuman: The Grunt units are genetically-engineered SuperSoldiers serving as SpaceMarines to repel a deadly alien invasion. Inevitably, you're one of their best members.
* AssistCharacter: Fellow grunts and marines can be seen shooting at Breed soldiers in all the ground-based missions, and they're surprisingly competent.
* AsteroidThicket: The final stage have you piloting a starfighter through an asteroid field while fending off Breed fighters in order to force your way into the Breed mothership.
* AwesomePersonnelCarrier: One shows up in the level where grunts are transported to the Breed's prison colony, and you're tasked with defending it along the way. Luckily said carrier has a gatling canon on it, and you can go crazy blasting enemy soldiers and aircraft all over the level.
* BattleshipRaid: In the final level, you force your way into the Breed's mothership. By this point your weapons are fully upgraded with maximum firepower, and you easily mow down waves and waves of Breed soldiers, OneManArmy-style.
* CarFu: The prison level sees you escaping in a military buggy around the prison compound while running down Breed soldiers left and right, besides using the buggy's turrets to take out surrounding enemies. It leads to an intense chase sequence when the Breed brings out ''their'' vehicles too.
* TheEndOrIsIt: [[spoiler:The game ends with a human victory against the Breeds as they successfully took over the mothership and wipes out all remaining Breeds. Cue the cheering, until a cutscene reveals a ''massive'', green, multi-limbed monstrosity hiding in the mothership's bowels awakening]]. And then the game suddenly stops there. Said revelation was LeftHanging considering the lack of a sequel.
--> '''Marine''': Sir, I think you better see this...\\
'''Narrator''': ToBeContinued...
* EnemyDetectingRadar: Most levels grants you one on the upper-right corner. Breed units are manifested as red dots.
* EnergyWeapon: The Breed's forces seems to use laser and plasma weapons exclusively. Meanwhile, the grunt and human SpaceMarines prefers bullets and rockets.
* EyeLightsOut: Breed soldiers have with glowing blue eyes and assorted glowing electronic appendages attached to their body. When killed, not only does the Breed's eyes goes out, but also every component on them.
* FlashOfPain: Getting hit by Breed lasers will have the screen flashing for a split-second.
* FunWithAcronyms: Grunts - '''Genetically Revived Universal Tactical Sentient'''.
* GatlingGood: Missions where you ride on gunships and tanks, in control of the vehicle's gatling cannons on their sides with you being tasked with gunning down incoming Breed aircraft and mooks while defending your vehicle.
* MechanicalLifeforms: The Breed, despite being a sentient alien race, looks more like robots than organic life-forms. Although they do let out an agonized "ahh!" that sounds human when killed.
* MooksButNoBosses: You spend the game gunning down legions of Breed soldiers, aircraft, turrets and the like, but there's nary a boss in sight. Even the Breed leader in the mothership is just an EliteMook version of the regular Breeds who doesn't put up much of a fight.
* OldSchoolDogfight: A few levels where instead of fighting on foot, you're in a USC spacecraft or starfighter, battling Breed ships either in the skies or outer space.
* OneWordTitle: "Breed", it's just that.
* PoweredArmor: The grunts have one simply called a "BODYSUIT", that you put on in a few levels. It increases your firepower as well as your ammunition count, kicking a ton of ass in levels you have access.
* SentryGun: Breed outposts tends to have laser cannons installed on the ground, firing automatically when grunts are in range. You could spot and destroy them before they can shoot you however.
* ShoutOut: The prison escape have a soldier telling you "[[Film/TheTerminator Come with me if you want to live]]!"
* SlowLaser: All the lasers fired by Breed soldiers can be seen onscreen and avoided by ''sidestepping'', and is absolutely AwesomeButImpractical compared to machine-guns and rifles used by USC marines and grunts which hits Breed troops instantly. Most of the difficulty actually comes from onscreen bullet density.
* SniperRifle: You're given one which proves surprisingly lethal against the Breeds, though the alien forces have ''laser'' snipers.
* TheSquadette: Late into the game, you join a grunt platoon led by one Colonel Carla Alvarez, among the few women serving as leaders in the space marines.
*ToBeContinued: How the game ends, right after [[spoiler:human victory against the invaders on the Breed mothership before an unknown, gigantic monstrosity reveals itself in the ship's bowels]]. The narrator even said "To Be Continued" in-verbatim before the credits roll.
