Not to be confused with the 1993 game of the same name, the upcoming Beyond Shadowgate is set 35 years after the Warlock Lord's defeat in the first game and Jair's rule over Kal Torlin has been prospering while people forgot the events of Shadowgate. However evil again begins to stir as it seeks to bring for the world's destruction. After Del Thornburrow was thrown into the dungeons of the capital city Geynenthell, he manages to escape the dungeon, but now finds himself in a journey with a range that includes Gwynenthell, Torlin Forest, the Gatekeeper Mountains, and elsewhere as he seeks to stop a sinister plot that will overturn kingdoms and cast the world into darkness. While he avoids all that could kill him such as traps and monster, Del also will encounter old and new people.

-------------------------
* AdaptationNameChange: Del Cottonwood from 64 has become Del Thornburrow in the new version of Beyond, to underline the fact that the character has considerably changed in the different continuity.
* AnArmAndALeg: Failing to escape the minotaur in the Torture Cell will lead to him hacking off your hands.
* CallBack: The player can die by jumping down a well, just like the first game.
* DarkerAndEdgier: The game holds a bleaker atmosphere compared to the first game such as all the player's loved ones dying or Kal Torlin being destroyed if they fail, prisoners being tortured, etc.
* EyepatchOfPower: A minotaur was shown with an eyepatch and will hack the player down if he ticks him off by getting too close.
* GameOverMan: The GrimReaper reprises his role when the player dies and there is a bleaker outcome as not only did the player die but has additional details such as all they have loved dying or Kal Torlin being destroyed.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: The minotaur's method of killing you at the sentry post is to hack you in half before swinging his axe at your skull.
* LudicrousGibs: Another way to die at the hands of the minotaur is for him to hack you apart if you fail to escape the room called the "Isolated Cell".
* TheNightThatNeverEnds: One of the scenarios is trying to uncover the revolts that seek to have kingdoms overthrown in the name of covering the world in darkness.
* OffWithHisHead: Crossing paths with the minotaur will enrage him and promptly decapitate Del.
* OurMinotaursAreDifferent: A possible way to die is to cross paths with a minotaur where it brandishes its axe and cuts the player down.
* TimeSkip: Takes place 35 years after Jair overpowered the Warlock Lord in the first game.
