I'm a university-age guy who lives with his widowed mother and has no social life. What little free time I have outside of school, I spend in front of my laptop reading fanfics and watching anime. I fit the image of a stereotypical {{otaku}} very closely. I salivate over spacecraft and mechas as well as preferring sci-fi over fantasy, big time[[note]]probably because when I was young, my bitch of a sister forced me to watch entire seasons of Sailor Moon without bothering to tell me that it's for girls; I now have a [[TastesLikeDiabetes pathological hate of magical girls]], with the sole exception of Nanoha's heroines[[/note]]. Most of it I acquired via bittorrent due to NoExportForYou and because I had no way to pay for it. I'm not ashamed of it; I think arbitrarily restricting culture is bull. Sure, people make a living out of it which I have no problem with but since most of that money goes to [[CorruptCorporateExecutive those who didn't make the stuff but want in on the profits]]... Or to put it in a different way: I want to pay the creators, not the copyright holders. Make no mistake, [[RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment I'm not promoting piracy for profit]] since [[EvenEvilHasStandards even I have standards]]: it's already illegal and those who even get money out of it are the ones who give all pirates a bad rep and ''deserve'' to get busted and jailed; I refuse to associate myself with them. In fact, I don't take sides at all since piracy versus copyright is a case of GreyAndGrayMorality. Besides, I never gave pirated stuff to anyone nor did I ask for it from anyone; acquisition of copyrighted stuff ''for personal use'' is legal in my country, it's only the ''distribution'' that's illegal.

* Well, I took my own direction too: what if Shinji switched places with Kaworu? And what if Kaworu is the one who gets badassed up instead of Shinji? I originally intended him to be a Kamina expy but then I realized that wouldn't be very entertaining. Sure, I can write comic relief but the story is already slated to receive one in the form of a hyper-genki (and closet yandere) Rei clone. Therefore, he's considerably saner now than originally but still not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Like if you would pluck a random 14-year old from the streets, which is pretty much what happens to him anyway.

Evangelion / Universe At War crossover, to be written as a sequel to Ascension. I've got this one planned too but no spoilers, sorry. All I say is that the story takes place in 2057 with the two [=OCs=] making cameo appearances during Israfel as main characters.//
All I can say without spoiling too much are the following:
* The Evangelion that kicked Israfel's ass is the male lead's personal Evangelion, an incomplete but operational proof-of-concept prototype designed for anti-Evangelion combat but ultimately failed to enter mass production due to massive cost overruns. Over the course of the story, it's eventually finished and upgraded into a custom unit as close to a GodModeSue as one can get without actually hitting it.
* This part of the saga will be the one that really makes it clear just how much of a CrapsackWorld the Ascensionverse is. To put it in perspective, if Ascension is the original Gundam series, then Second Movement is Zeta Gundam. No named characters are planned to die yet but expect near-nonexistent humor.
* New additions to the cast:
** Takeshi, the main protagonist. He is, in some ways, the exact opposite of Kaworu.
** Haruka, Takeshi's cousin. A GirlNextDoor with a very strong understanding between the two of them. She has a fully-functional Haro built by her father.
** Yurie, Takeshi's eight year old sister. The only person Takeshi likes.
** The Wunder's crew from Rebuild 3.0 all appear as crew of the ''Exelion''.
** Yamato Kawaguchi, the PosthumousCharacter who designed the Eva and mysteriously disappeared shortly after its completion and who turns out to be NotQuiteDead.

An original story, basically Evangelion written ''BokuWaTomodachiGaSukunai''-style with a sprinkling of ''HaruhiSuzumiya''. No mechas, no (-t much) angst and no deaths, just wacky SliceOfLife humor. Despite the premise, it won't be a harem story.

I absolutely hate darkfics with a passion. I'm already suffering from chronic depression and reading a darkfic (especially one with sexual exploitation) acts like a Despair EmotionBomb for me. The main reason for this is that I'm extremely imaginative and impressionable: ever since I was a kid, whenever I read a book I subconsciously imagine the scene in my mind, providing perfect immersion. I think that this is a required personality feature to fully understand fiction. You can say that I prefer a happy ending and I won't say a word to the contrary because that's the case. However, don't think I'm all giggles-and-sunshine: I find it easier to identify with angsting characters to the point where my favorite anime is Evangelion especially because I see traits of myself in the kids (loneliness and hopelessness in Rei, insecurity and betrayal in Shinji, hate and apprehension in Asuka).

** My all-time favorite, I first saw episodes 23 and 25 on a satellite broadcast of [=ORF1=] in the early [=2000s=], didn't understand a word of it since I don't speak German. I first watched the whole series a few years ago and instantly fell in love with it. Watched the ''Rebuild'' movies too and it only reignited that love; I informally refer to those movies as "the new series". I'm so smitten with the franchise that I hunted down the only existing (and incomplete) Eva mod to ''Unreal Tournament 2004'' (google "Evarena") and made some tweaking to it. I completely finished off the Evangelion sections of FF.net and Darkscribes.org and now I'm out of reading material. I'm still following ''Nobody Dies'' but lately it's just not as exciting as before. OK, it was funny and all but not anymore.

** This very site introduced me to the series. It HAS some interesting stuff but it's not as good as NGE.

** Saw the first two seasons in TV; the third season wasn't dubbed to my language so I watched it on Youtube before it got taken off. I love this one.

** Saw it on TV. Interesting one and has a freakin' awesome English dub.

When I was younger, I used to beat every game with cheats. Then I discovered the beauty of giving the AI a chance... I'm an RTS fanatic (and notorious turtler), by the way. High-school classmates introduced me to CS but I quickly lost interest in it. I still play FPS games and I favor sniping/ambushing when possible because my reflexes suck. Or at least, they used to suck but thanks to said high-school's dactylography lessons, I now have decent hand-to-eye coordination.

** Hoo, ''boy''! Yuri's Revenge was my first computer game EVER. I learned the industry of RTS gaming on this and subsequently branched out. I recently added Red Alert 3 to the list of C&C titles I played; now only Kane's Wrath and Tiberium Twilight are remaining. I also have some modding knowledge in the RA2/TS engine; it's so easy even my five year old nephew could do it.
*** And now said nephew is playing RA2/3 as well! He's just good enough to beat the AI on Easy; for me, Brutal in RA2 is a MASSIVE pushover.
*** Not anymore on my machine. On 11/06/28, the little fuck insisted so hard I eventually obliged and started the game for him, only to have the laptop overheat and shut down from the strain. I'll break his hand if he touches it again.

** Well-knowledged of this one. My primary fanfic originally started out as original fiction with a background story almost identical to the first Homeworld game; boy, was I pissed when I found out someone already came up with it years before me. HWC is okay, HW2 is just unfair in terms of difficulty. I recently pulled down the Macross mod for HW1 and, well... it's much harder, so much so that it forced me to use a trainer at first to actually stand a chance. And the insane amounts of missiles are none-too-gentle for the CPU either.
*** SelfImposedChallenge: other than mission objectives and unique (Kadeshi/Pirate) ships, don't capture enemy ships at all.

*** SelfImposedChallenge: in the campaign, only build as many top-class ships as you can carry over to the next mission. The rest of the military quota must be composed of lower classes. For example: if you can carry over four ships and have cruiser technology, only make four cruisers at most; the others must be corvettes or fighters. To make it even more interesting, only build ONE battleship and man it with your main hero. Trust me, massed enemy battleships really give your cruisers a run for their money.

** Didn't finish this one either but it's VERY good. Those who have never heard of it before should get it somewhere (I don't think there are any legal copies in stores).

I already managed to get the weapons to spawn normally but it's buggy: the guy who coded it did a crapjob and coded the Evas in the mod to use a different pawn class then referring specifically to that class in the guns' firing function. Due to this, spawning the mod guns without my mutator causes the guns to not fire since the gun can't recognize it's owner. I fixed this by inheriting every single gun into a subclass and overriding the problematic part with a copy that had the owner fixed. Despite the code that handles weapon replacement from vanilla UT2004 guns into Evarena guns written correctly (at least I think so: all names are correct and the game compiles and runs the code without problems), the game still spawns the "bad" guns on pickup but spawning them via the console gives the fixed guns that all work correctly. I also intend to tweak some of the guns so that they'll function like their show counterparts: for example, instead of having the positron rifle firing lightning on primary and a linkgun beam/towing beam on secondary, I'd have the primary firing shockballs that explode into shock comboes on impact (refer to episode 22) and the secondary expending all remaining ammunition into a single beam whose power depends on how much ammo was available (weaker than a vanilla shockbeam at low ammo, instagib on full ammo). Oh, and the mutator also switches out powerups since my first intention for writing it was to make vanilla maps playable with the mod instead of having to resort to custom maps.
** SelfImposedChallenge: prefer using only one, max. two weapons in Tournament mode. And neither can be a rocket launcher but something with much less bang, preferably hitscan (this will force you to improve your accuracy and not always depend on splash damage; in extreme cases, go to CTF-Face, pick up the sniper rifle and NoScope from the tower). Thanks to this, I finally learned how to headshot a bunnyhopping enemy from fifty meters with the Lightning Gun and can now handle Godlike instagibs in the original. 2004 Sniper Rifle sucks ass because even if I shoot the guy in the frakking face, the game won't register it as a headshot because the hitbox is too small to hit.

Last protoss mission: no building battlecruisers at all, you'll have to make due with the Hyperion only. Carriers should also be restricted to 2-3 in the last mission, none in the penultimate mission and just one before that.
** If you really want to have fun, download and install the Gundam Century mod. It completely rewrites game balance from what you're used to but has a few bugs and imbalances I have more or less fixed thanks to a trio of little programs called MPQEditor, MPQDraft and DatEdit. I also tried FireGraft but that one hardwires the created mod executable to not load the original Starcraft campaigns, only the Brood War ones.

Armored Valkyries fire even more) are actually causing this 10+ year-old game to lag my machine.

** The Evas are all sentient. Their personalities are dependent on the stimuli they're exposed to prior to becoming self-aware. Lilith/Unit-00 is essentially an adult, more extroverted Rei. Adam/Unit-01 is a DeadpanSnarker and a practicer of Zen. [[spoiler:Sekhmet/Unit-02 is a Khornate Berserker expy[[hottip:*:they let her read WH40K during development and she figured: if she's a weapon of war, she might as well enjoy it]]. Loki/Unit-04 is a cold and calculating tactician who has trouble determining what counts as "acceptable losses".]]
** Kaworu is a hot-blooded guy with a hard case of idealism. He's essentially a Kamina expy, even going so far as to directly quote the guy. It's entirely intentional for him to come across as a MarySue. Surprise: he's not. In fact, season 2 reveals he doesn't even come ''close'' to saint territory. He's cocky but deep down, he has doubts whether what he's doing is truly the right thing to do. When Asuka calls him out on it, you can guess the [[HeroicBSOD result]]. He has no idea how guns work and is so [[UnskilledButStrong unskilled and untrained]] that he frequently improvises in battle, preferring to use the Lance of Longinus as a naginata/quarterstaff hybrid. He essentially runs on CrazyAwesome to survive.
** Asuka has her canon personality preserved, with [[ForWantOfANail one exception]]. She wasn't abandoned by her father after Kyoko's death and has grown up MUCH better. She remembers her mother fondly and has kept one of her possessions as a reminder of what she's lost. So fondly in fact that [[FailureKnight she pursues a military career precisely so that no one else will have to go through the same thing]]. She also has an additional secret she kept safe from her father: she's bisexual and an abject nymphomaniac. She's already an ace pilot in conventional mechas, having the secret identity of "the Red Baron", a several-times champion in sport piloting; she's a CQC specialist but has no aversion to using ranged weaponry either. Her fighting style is purely practical, focused on taking out opponents quickly and efficiently. She has mild hyperopia she offsets via glasses; she switches to contacts when in public, of course.
** Rei is essentially her canon personality crossed over with canon!Shinji. She's a loner who doesn't have any friends and never associates with anyone outside work; she's a nihilistic NietzscheWannabe who sees no value in herself and directly invokes WhoWantsToLiveForever when asked about it. There's only one exception: she treats her Eva like an older sister. Her outsider status made her a fan of unconventional clothing; namely, lots of black, a heavy trenchcoat, shades, as well as going commando and bra-less. She's an expert marksman and possesses a whole ''arsenal'' of knives, swords and firearms including pistols (her favorite are a pair of Mateba Autorevolvers [[HandCannon chambered to the highest pistol cartridge there is: the .454 Casull]]), machine pistols (especially Micro Uzis; she had a pair since she was eight), a sniper rifle (she bought one for her ninth birthday) and a [[MoreDakka grenade launcher]] (don't ask...), all of them aquired through illicit means (read: black market). In melee, she prefers the sword with SheFu, coupled with some GunFu.
** Shinji (hasn't appeared yet) [[spoiler:has a secret he's forbidden from telling anyone but is eventually revealed to the others against his will. Said secret [[CursedWithAwesome gives him frequent migraines and mild epilepsy but in return he's a freakin']] ''genius'', having already earned a master's degree in robotics and a minor in computer science. He works for Gehirn under Gendo as a designer but he's not allowed to have any friends so he's a ShrinkingViolet, just like his canon counterpart. Despite his job requiring him to design weapons of war, he has an extreme opposition to violence; [[WellDoneSonGuy he does it anyway however because he wants to have a use to his father]]. When he was young, he fell victim to a polio outbreak and lost use of his legs; he's currently [[WheelchairWoobie the constant user of a motorized wheelchair]]. He's old childhood friends with Rei and is very eager to meet her all grown up.]]
** Yui and Gendo were the co-founders of the AEL. During one of their less-than-legal projects however, Gendo crossed a certain line and invoked Yui's wrath on himself; they divorced and he quit the AEL, taking Shinji with him and founding Gehirn. He's still as cold to his son as before. Yui on the other hand coped with Shinji's loss by adopting Rei; she's a rabid workaholic and spent more time with work than with Rei, leading to the girl's psychological state.
** The HalfLife verse's legendary badass Adrian Shephard is an OCStandIn main cast member of the fic. He's Asuka's father and a PapaBear. He's essentially a [[StargateSG1 Jack O'Neill]] expy: snarky, doesn't understand a word of technobabble, not much for protocol, never pulls rank to make his subordinates do suicidal jobs, etc.

Evangelion / Universe At War crossover, to be written as a sequel to Ascension. I've got this one planned too but no spoilers, sorry. All I say is that the story takes place in 2057 with the two [=OCs=] making cameo appearances during Israfel as main characters.

** Weaponry consists of a multitude of weapon hardpoints across the body: dual-barreled miniguns on the right wrist (Unit-02 has a [[ShortRangeShotgun Pummel Gun]] instead), an [[GrenadeLauncher MDM Mortar]] on the underside of the right forearm, a missile hardpoint on the left shoulder and a reverse-engineered [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BeehiveBarrier Scion stasis shield]] [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe on the left forearm]]. Consequently, they are not genderflipped but retain their canon personalities. Rei (the original TEO one, although over a hundred years old) is cast as co-inventor of the IS with Tabane although many believe she's a fictional person made up by Tabane to downplay her contribution to the IS project; this is further reinforced by the fact that Rei was supposedly never seen by anyone other than Tabane because they use Kaworu as their envoy. Rin is switched out with Mayumi but otherwise the entire Stratos cast are cast in their canon roles.
* Setting
** Same as in Stratos except that Shinji is the guy sent to the IS Academy. Then the Angels start attacking and everyone's confused as hell.
