** Finally subverted in January 2019. Max ended up being fired from the creator network which he'd been affiliated with for almost ten years due to changes in Youtube's copyright policy. However, this ended up being a blessing in disguise, since Max didn't really need it anymore and it opened him up to working directly with Youtube. After clearing things with the bigwigs, he was allowed to restore '''''all''''' the videos that he'd previously had to make private; since they contain copyrighted music they just can't be monetized, but Max has said that he's perfectly fine with that because [[DoingItForTheArt he considers the content far more important]] than making money off of it.

* WhyFandomCantHaveNiceThings: The guys have a RunningGag in their ''VideoGame/SoulCaliburVI'' "Rate the Create-a-Souls" videos where they pretend not to know where certain anime characters come from (such as claiming that [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Ichigo Kurosaki]] is from ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''). While most people understand that it's just a joke, the Youtube uploads were apparently so full of angry fans complaining "How dare you not respect my favorite show!" that Simmons (who runs the [=YoVG=] YT channel) had to disable comments on all the videos.

* MissingEpisode: The Fighting History episode for ''VideoGame/MortalKombatMythologiesSubZero'' was this for the longest time. As noted on the main page, Max had to cancel the series since Benny would no longer behave on camera, meaning he couldn't film the ''WebVideo/AngryVideoGameNerd''-style "host segments" anymore, despite having already played through and beaten the game on livestream already. In late 2019, Max just went ahead and combined the host segments he'd already filmed with footage from the livestream, then released it to the public.

** At E3 2019, Yoshinori Kitase (director of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIIRemake'') told Max that the staff working on the game used his reaction to the debut trailer as motivation when they were feeling down, since his unbridled joy reassured them that they were doing the right thing.
** In a more direct example, Hidetoshi "Neo_G" Ishizawa (the man behind ''VideoGame/StreetFighterIII'') specifically sought Max out at EVO 2019 for a picture and later tweeted it out, outright describing Max to Japanese fans as a streamer and influencer known for being honestly passionate about fighting games.

* ScrewedByTheLawyers: In early 2017, most of the Boss Rage videos on Max's Youtube channel went private. As Max explained at EVO, the library of copyright-safe music he'd used to make the videos got bought out by another company that went copyright-crazy. Thankfully Max got advance warning from his friends at Warner Bros. and Machinima and made the videos private before they could get copyright claimed and get the channel shut down. However, that still meant that he had to re-edit the videos to remove the offending tracks, and even then he could only do that for the videos where he still had the raw footage. In mid-2018, a bunch more of the Boss Rage videos and some others got taken down for the same reason, which prompted Max to look into moving these videos to Twitch since they'd be safer there.

* ScrewedByTheLawyers: In early 2017, most of the Boss Rage videos disappeared from Max's channel due to copyright claims on the music used. This forced Max to re-edit some of the videos (the ones where he still had the raw footage handy) in order to remove the offending tracks. Oddly, this seems to be centered on the generic background music rather than famous tracks; the first re-edited video, the ''VideoGame/MortalKombat9'' Boss Rage, replaces the dramatic track that plays as Steve finally defeats Shao Kahn, but retains the ''Series/{{Cheers}}'' theme from the montage at the end.
