Marisa also claims to have beaten the Yama before to Kutaka in Wily Beast and Weakest Creature, although this specific route [and thus statement] are non-canon. It is likely however that all the routes occured in some fashion, with all the characters meeting Komachi and Eiki and discovering the truth of the incident, as it would explain the statements of all three characters,

*CreatorBacklash: As part of [=EoSD=]'s 20th anniversary exhibit, ZUN comments on how this game lead to Cirno's MemeticLoser status in the fandom and he seems to somewhat regret it:
