* KillerApp: {{Invoked|Trope}}; it's obvious Microsoft was gambling on this next-generation, highly-polished, not-run-of-the-mill FirstPersonShooter to kickstart sales of the UsefulNotes/XboxOne. In all fairness, the last time they took such a gamble, [[Franchise/{{Halo}} it worked]].
** Success appears to have been mixed. It sold [[http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/06/titanfall-sales-numbers/ close to a million copies in three weeks]], but that counts PC downloads, and the article points out that the UsefulNotes/{{PS4}} exclusive ''VideoGame/InfamousSecondSon'' did better in a shorter amount of time. Reviews were also ambivalent; the consensus is that it's [[ObviousBeta only about two-thirds of a game]], though that two-thirds is ''incredibly'' fun (even ''[[WebAnimation/ZeroPunctuation Yahtzee]]'' enjoyed himself).
* ReferencedBy: ''Series/MadamSecretary'' has several prominent shots of the [=McCord=] family playing the Microsoft UsefulNotes/XboxOne version (probably ProductPlacement).

Repair, don\'t respond. If something is incorrect, just remove it. Removed Artist Disillusionment, as it doesn\'t mention anyone leaving. Removed Colbert Bump, as Titanfall is not a little-known work. Removed No Export For You, as that requires, well, a region not getting something, which is not the case here.

* ArtistDisillusionment: One of the workers at Respawn responded to a forum when he found out that one of them was accusing Respawn of paying reviewers and sites for publicity.
* ColbertBump: Practically what every videogame website did up till the launch of Titanfall. This had caused some Hype Backlash, which can be seen over in YMMV.
* ExecutiveMeddling: Origin Tokens. They increase the odds of how good your connection is. This means that if you get kicked from a game of friends, and try to rejoin, you may end up with a screen telling you that you have insufficient Origin Tokens, instead of why you can't join. To get said tokens, you have to buy them.
** Entirely incorrect. Origin Tokens are authentication tokens used to recognize your client and connect it to a server. You do not "buy" or "obtain" them; they are simply generated when you initiate a connection to the game's servers. "Receiving" a token (for lack of a better word) means that your client has been approved by the servers and is able to connect to the game. No microtransactions, no executive meddling.

* NoExportForYou: Until October 2014, most European countries won't be able to buy or play Titanfall for the Xbox One. Why? The Xbox One isn't available due to language translations that have to be done, before their launch in the missing countries.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: A PS4 version was planned, but cancelled, mainly due to the dev-kit given to Respawn encored a virus.
** Incorrect. Respawn worked directly with Microsoft to design the Xbox One gamepad. This, along with Microsoft's Azure servers (which provide server connectivity in the game) led EA to sign an exclusivity contract with Microsoft, keeping Titanfall's console version exclusive to Microsoft's platforms.

Misinformation abound! Who the hell thought \"Origin Tokens\" were something you bought, or that the PS 4 version was cancelled because of a virus? This is all 1990\'s pre-internet level rumor that somehow landed on Tv Tropes. For shame, tropers.
