** One of the criticisms given to previous episodes set in the future have been how Bart is invariably a loser while Lisa is incredibly successful, which seems to be falling yet again into the series' issues regarding positive discrimination. Here, Bart is shown to have become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as previously mentioned in "Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie", showing that his future isn't ''as'' bleak as it may seem.
** Some consider this episode a rightful call out over the somewhat mean spirited way Maude was KilledOffForReal in "Alone Again Natura-Diddly", in particular making Homer an IdiotHoudini who practically set up the whole thing.
