* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: An Uncut dual-language release of the series was planned, but as of August 2009, only 2 [=DVDs=] containing 3 episodes each were ever released before the project was cancelled. Outside of those releases, the rest of the series has never been on DVD in the U.S.A. Interestingly the show never even got a release of the edited anime making this doubly harsh.

* StudioHop: The 2021 anime is being produced by Creator/{{Bridge}} instead of Creator/{{Xebec}}.

* RelationshipVoiceActor: In the original Japanese version, Anna, Manta, and Horohoro are [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Jessie]], [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Meowth]], and [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Wobbuffet]]/[[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Brock]].

** Despite all of the above, the series has yet to get a reboot/remake anime adaptation in the same vein as ''[[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood]]'' or ''Anime/HunterXHunter'', but reruns of the original anime have been shown in Japan. In fact, in response to a question about this on Twitter, Takei responded that [[http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2017/02/15-1/shaman-king-manga-author-refused-an-offer-for-anime-remake he did indeed receive the offer to do such a remake]], but turned it down since they weren't able to get the original voice actors or soundtrack music.
** That is, until, until June 2020, when [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyzqCA8aVSo a teaser]] for a 2021 adaptation dropped.

* ShesAManInJapan: In the anime's English dub, Opacho was turned into a little boy. It's not easy to tell, since the VA is still female and his/her gender isn't mentioned often.
** In Brazil, Hao became a woman until it was shown that he was male. They changed the gender back to male and acted like the initial gender change never happened.
*** The same dub also made Kororo a boy, and Goldva was changed into a guy as well... Even though she was ''still a woman in her first appearance''.
** In the Latin American dub, Goldva goes through a ''reverse'' of what happens in Brazil; she's played off as an elderly man in her first appearance and turned back into a woman after.

* CashCowFranchise: After the original manga line-up cancellation, the series suddenly had a rise in popularity, {{Spin Off}}s, {{Prequel}}s and {{Sequel}}s have been spawning left and right, which served to make the [=KanZenBan=] (Ultimate Edition) print line possible and give a proper ending to manga, and yet more works have been born lately. The recent ''Shaman King Zero'' says it best:

* NamesTheSame: One of the BoZ Brothers is named Ryo Kamishiro in the anime. The name also matches another major character [[Anime/YuGiOhZexal named Rio Kamishiro.]]

* HeyItsThatVoice: In the Latin American dub, Manta is kid Goku.
** And Kid!Gohan. And Kid!Goten. And [[Manga/InuYasha Shippo]], and [[Manga/CrayonShinChan Shin-chan]], and [[WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}} Tommy Pickles]]... And basically every animated child in the last two decades. Laura Torres could be the poster child for [[ManOfAThousandVoices Woman Of A Thousand Voices]], if only they didn't all sound exactly the same. Needless to say, Manta's voice brings back memories for almost everybody.
** Also, in the Japanese version, [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 Ken Ichijouji]] is a {{Badass}} [[TheAtoner Atoner]] Chinese warrior, [[Manga/{{X1999}} Karen Kasumi]] is a slightly sociopathic British kid looking for revenge and [[Anime/CowboyBebop Faye Valentine]] is a {{Badass}} medium who wants to be Shaman Queen.
** Hey! Let's not forget [[VisionofEscaflowne Dilandau]] who, well, has [[PyroManiac a fair bit]] [[VillainousBreakdown in common]] with his Shaman King counterpart.
** In the English dub, Pirika is [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Misty]], she even uses the same voice for both characters. Tamao also stares as [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} a traveling companion of herself]]. Veronica Taylor was both Ash and May's VA.
